Originally a Russian T-55 tank, the Tiran 5 was a modified version of the T-55 taken by the Israeli Defence Force and upgraded extensively during the 60s up to the 80s. It was armed with a 105mm gun as well as M2 machine guns and although it was withdrawn from Israeli service, it continued to see action across several other countries. From the 1970s through the 1980s, Group 5 races gained immense popularity with thrilling on-track battles between powerful, highly modified vehicles. The Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo was designed to take on the DRM (German Racing Championship), sporting a low and wide body and powered by a 375hp 1,427cc inline-4 engine. With the body making extensive use of FRP, the car weighed in at a mere 790kg. It debuted in summer 1978 at Hockenheim, and then in October took its maiden victory, winning the sprint race at the Nürburgring. Features This is a 1/24 scale plastic model assembly kit. The 1978 Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo was developed by West Germany’s Zakspeed team for the DRM. With a lightweight 790 kg, wide-body aerodynamic design, it was powered by a 1,427 cc turbocharged inline-four producing 375 hp. The Capri Turbo claimed its first victory at the Nürburgring in 1978 and went on to secure wins and podiums in the 1979 season, becoming one of the most iconic Silhouette Formula race cars in DRM history. This R/C model assembly kit recreates the 1978 Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo from the 1978 DRM (German Racing Championship), a series which was a part of the immensely popular Group 5 racing scene in the 1970s and 1980s. The car - developed for the DRM by West German racing team Zakspeed – has its wide and low form depicted by a polycarbonate body, with stickers included to recreate color sections in the livery and various sponsor logos.
