FLYWHEEL UNIT The gyroscopic stabilization force created by its heavy steel flywheel — spinning at over 22,000 rpm with the 2700Kv motor — does wonders for the motorcycle's stability. Mounted as low and as far forward as possible in the frame, the flywheel unit enables the Promoto-SM to pivot around its center point to improve jumping, changes of direction, and the accuracy of the bike's performance. HEAD DAMPING With eight pounds rapidly powering down the track, it takes quite a stiff servo saver spring setup to properly guide the Promoto-SM into the next turn. Like anything heavily sprung, the best way to control the strong springs is to dampen the movement. A key development for the Promoto platform is a fluid-filled friction chamber between the upper and lower head tube bearings. The chamber is filled with heavy 500,000cSt which dampens the servo saver well and helps to control any possible "head shake.” SERVO SAVER The servo saver's stiff circular springs, captured by bearing-mounted composite plates, provide consistency in steering with enough give to protect the servo. But that's not all. It also drastically improves the bike's performance when setting down from wheelies, landing from jumps, power sliding through a turn, and pushing the front tire over a curb. REALISTIC RIDER FIGURE The rider figures of other RC motorcycles are made entirely of foam, which quickly fails. Promoto riders have a rubberized plastic exterior that can give and flex under impacts and flips. To keep the rider from bobbling around on the bike, the torso has a foam insert. It keeps the body firm during normal operation but still able to give under impact. With its updated gear, the Promoto-SM rider looks ready for aggressive on-road racing action! PRO-LINE RACING OE (ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT) SUPERMOTO STREET TIRES The Promoto-SM is outfitted with new Pro-Line Racing OE (Original Equipment) Supermoto street tires. In addition to complementing the bike's scale looks, the Supermoto tires are designed specifically for the unique wear and traction requirements of supermoto-style road racing. DISPLAY/MAINTENANCE & STARTING STANDS Working on a real bike is easier with a proper bike stand. So the Promoto-SM had to have one, too! The included stand for maintenance and display is modeled after a real bike stand, complete with graphics. To keep the bike balanced on the stand, the Promoto-SM keys into the bike stand. But taking it a step further, a hands-free starting stand is also included. This starting stand cradles the rear tire and holds the bike upright and ready for a gate-style start. TRUE-SPOKE WHEELS Before Losi introduced the Promoto platform, no other manufacturers had been able to create proper-looking spoked wheels with the durability needed for an RC bike. It took the determination and expertise of the Losi product development team to make it happen. For the Promoto-SM, the realistic, true-spoke wheels are smaller, in keeping with the design of real on-road motorcycles. PLASTICS WITH GRAPHICS Big or small, no street bike would look right without a proper body panel kit wrapped in vinyl graphics. The Promoto-SM has all the goods — fenders, number plate, fork guards, front and rear side panels — all looking fresh wrapped in updated, highly durable vinyl graphics. REALISTIC DETAILS Even tiny touches matter, and Losi hasn't overlooked a thing — exhaust, brake line, foot pegs, brake rotors, you name it. The Promoto-SM also includes hand guards, recreating those used on full-size supermoto bikes to protect the brake and clutch levers during a fall. REAR FENDER Wheelies happen. A normal, rigid-mounted rear fender would really take a beating. But the Promoto-SM has the solution — a hinged elastomer sprung rear fender that can deflect out of the way during wheelies to expose a durable nylon rear bumper. It substantially increases the durability of the rear fender. FRONT CRASH STRUCTURE The front crash structure of the Promoto-SM is rigid during normal running, but compresses until the front tire bottoms into the chassis frame to absorb front impacts. That protects the front fork tubes from bending, keeping them safe and true. SKID PLATES & AIR VENTS Molded composite skid plates line the front and bottom of the Promoto-SM chassis. They offer protection during crashes and keep debris out of the chassis, helping to protect the electronics mounted inside. The air vents on each side of the bike come closed in the box, but can be opened to provide cooling airflow when ambient temperatures are high. TWIN ALUMINUM PLATE CHASSIS Twin aluminum chassis plates house and protect all of the bike's electronics and help to give the Promoto-SM its realistically narrow appearance. They also give the frame the rigidity and durability required for harsh impacts. FRONT FORK The front fork of the Promoto-SM is another Losi innovation with an internal spring and dampener. Designed to work similar to normal RC shocks, the front fork tubes can be rebuilt and tuned by changing the silicone dampening fluid. Using counter-wound upper and lower springs, spacers can be used to adjust the ride height of the Promoto-SM as well. And maybe most importantly, they look awesome — just like the real deal. RISING RATE REAR SUSPENSION Just like a real bike, the Promoto-SM has a rising rate rear suspension. The suspension starts soft around ride height, for smooth handling and a superior grip. It becomes firmer as it gets deeper into up travel, to provide proper preload on jumps and prevent bottoming out in landings. Dialed in with a full oil-filled coil-over shock, the Promoto-SM is ready to rip over any on-road surface. BRUSHLESS POWER SYSTEM The Promoto-SM comes out of the gates HOT with a powerful Spektrum Smart brushless power system. The Optima Mid is remembered for its brilliant debut at the 2nd Electric Off-Road Car World Championships in England 1987, where the prototype occupied 5 out of the 10 qualifiers in the A-Main final and finished in second place. Optima’s chassis layout with midship motor position and undercarriage grew in popularity and became the foundation for modern racing buggies. It is this Optima Mid that will be reproduced as the 10th model in the Kyosho vintage series. The main chassis is made from 6016T6 aluminum alloy that guarantees high rigidity. Each component of the car has been updated to match a modern power system, such as the 48-pitch gear for improved efficiency and precision gear ratio setting. The recreated Optima Mid also features adjustable belt tension using a tensioner not available at the time, ultimately achieving a smooth drive with minimal loss. Furthermore, equipment from the Turbo Optima Mid such as the FRP front and rear shock stays, and countersunk main chassis have also been incorporated into this model. The racy form of the original Optima Mid body design is faithfully reproduced in line with the popular vintage series. As the name suggests, the layout allows for midship motor mount and driving performance optimized by centrally locating heavy components on the chassis. 6061T6 Aluminum Alloy Chassis The 6061T6 aluminum alloy main chassis achieves an excellent balance between rigidity and crash resistance and uses hex screws with the countersunk holes for a flat underside of the chassis. Shock Stays The front and rear shock stays have been updated from the original aluminum to FRP similar to the Turbo Optima Mid specs.  Gold Anodized Oil Shocks Equipped with gold anodized oil shocks that resemble the pressure shocks that dominated the era. Threaded shock bodies with dial adjustment collars allow for easy ride height tuning for precision chassis setting. Optimized Suspension Stabilizer end mounting holes have been added to the front suspension arms. The quality of the material has been optimized for increased strength and driving stability. Belt Tensioner Belt tension can be adjusted through the newly equipped belt tensioner, which also improves driving efficiency and reduces power loss. Drive Belt Cover The belt cover has been updated from the previous vacuum-formed part to a molded resin part that effectively protects the drive belt from dirt and dust. The new belt cover is easier to assemble and provides more complete protection from dust. Slipper Clutch 48-pitch spur gear is equipped with a slipper clutch that enhances traction and protects the gears from shocks while driving.  Standard 48P Gears Standard 48P gears are now used and can be interchanged with optional gears and slipper pads from the RB series. Incorporating a resin pipe-frame body resembling the innovative aluminum pipe frame body of the 1/8 scale Land Jump engine powered buggy, the new Javelin features the proven performance of double wishbone suspension with a narrow backbone-style skid frame that delivers ideal geometry for wide-angled steering. This combines with the Javelin’s superior sealed compartment 4WD chain-drive system to produce excellent performance and durability. Nylon pipe frame and aluminum rooftop form a high strength roll cage body structure. Includes large bumper similar to the original design as well as a mini bumper suitable for racing. New large size wing and wing stay is made from reinforced nylon material. The original Javelin wing was mounted on the roll cage directly. The new wing stay is now separate from the roll cage adding more durability and the wing is fixed with body clips for easier maintenance. The wing mounting position is the same as the Scorpion series allowing installation of the smaller wing used for the Scorpion onto the new Javelin. Equipped with choice of two drive systems. The original 1986 version used a chain drive with an optional belt drive sold separately. Both are included as standard in this Vintage Series version. The gearbox is equipped with a slipper clutch to protect the drive system from sudden load changes such as jump landings. It can respond to various road conditions with simple adjustments. Main chassis, shock stay and plates are made from 6061T6 aluminum alloy for corrosion resistance and increased strength. Countersunk flat head and tapping screws realize flush finish and reduce the number of nuts used. While faithfully replicating the original 1986 design, the oil shocks on the new version lift performance potential with stainless steel shafts on front and rear and aluminum cylinders with outer diameter increased from φ10 mm to φ12 mm. Shock resistant nylon double wishbone suspension with long stroke delivers superior durability and running stability in combination with the increased bore of the oil shocks. Replace resin bushes on the rear hub carriers to chose from three different toe angles (0°, 1°, 2°). Aluminum hexagonal wheel hubs can be fixed with set screws. While staying true to the Javelin’s original design, tires feature more pins and a revised compound to ensure increased grip. Includes lightweight chrome dish-type wheels.
