From Kyosho’s legendary rear motor Optima Series Comes the triumphant return of the Optima Pro! From its debut in 1985 the Kyosho Optima 1/10 scale electric 4WD buggy quickly established itself as a top-level competition model. The innovative design featured a ladder frame with rear motor layout like the 2WD Scorpion series but incorporated a chain drive to the front wheels. The pinnacle of the Optima series evolution was the Optima Pro released in 1987. Retaining the frame and drive system, the relaunch of the Optima Pro uses the advanced slim aero body and underbody form with revised mounting positions of the battery and steering servo to improve weight distribution and concentrate heavy components in the center of the chassis for significant performance improvements. After 37 years, the Optima Pro is making its long-awaited comeback as the 15th model of the Kyosho Vintage Series. Like other Vintage Series models, it retains the same basic design but with updates that match each component to modern R/C systems and power sources. These functional components are unique to the modern version of the Optima Pro. The frame is a traditional ladder tube type incorporating a belt-driven 4WD system, which was an option on the original, and a gearbox with increased durability. The modernized radio plate mounts the battery and R/C components and is unique to the modern Optima Pro. Major aluminum parts, including the front and rear oil shocks, have a gunmetal finish that was a signature color of the Kyosho works team at the time. The Optima’s timeless slimline body and underbody design delivers enhanced aerodynamic performance. Although the original version had a short sales period of only about six months, the revival of Optima Pro will make the Kyosho Vintage series even more exciting for years to come as the ultimate rear-motor powered Optima. Nearly fully assembled Optimal Pro 4WD buggy features rear motor layout incorporating ladder frame with newly designed resin radio plate. Changed mounting positions of the battery and servo deliver improved maneuverability. The combination of a cabin that minimizes air resistance and an aerodynamic wing-shaped underbody realizes stable high-speed driving. The threaded ride height adjustment is inspired by the pressure shocks, which were a popular option part in the 1980s. The gunmetal color finish, which was the team color at the time, comes with fine selection spring with an optimum spring rate. The resin-molded front shock tower, which has the same dimensions as the team carbon front shock tower (OTW108), achieves stable handling by increasing the shock mounting angle. The rear shock stay is made of high-strength (7075) duralumin, finished in stylish gun metal like the shock absorbers. In addition to robust crash resistance, the rear stay supports agile movement of the rear suspension. The belt drive, which was an option on the original model, uses a low-friction (OT260) drive belt for greater efficiency. However, you can recreate the chain-drive style from the 1980s by changing to the (OT226) chain (sold separately). The new Optimal Pro features a specially designed injection molded resin radio plate that optimizes the position of the battery and steering servo for improved handling. High-rigidity suspension arms welcome the intensity of hard driving and are included as standard. Proven in the Turbo Optima, the suspension arms deliver superior driving stability. Long front swing shafts remain secure even when the suspension is in full stroke and deliver improved reliability in combination with the hard suspension arms. The front and rear shock stays have been upgraded from the RB7's plastic material to 4mm thick carbon fiber, significantly enhancing strength and rigidity. "FANTOM EP-4WD Ext" is the last reincarnation of the famous FANTOM EP form! Two years after the seismic impact of the FANTOM EP-4WD’s debut win, the "FANTOM EP-4WD Ext" stunned the world by achieving the same feat against an even more competitive field at the 1985 Japan Championship. Racing surface conditions at that time were improving and race formats changed from the fiery 4-minute races to 8-minute endurance races. The "FANTOM EP-4WD Ext" was developed to meet this trend. Kyosho was the first to introduce the chain + one-way 4WD system developed for 1/8 engine models into 1/12 electric racing cars. The front one-way system enabled power to be applied earlier through corners, allowing for more aggressive driving. On the other hand, energy efficiency didn’t improve and it was prone to stalling when power was taken off. In the Ext, high-dimensional fusion of the 3P suspension reinforces weak points. 2.2mm suspension stroke is realized through specially shaped springs creating a "progressive spring effect" by compressing the suspension according to the roll amount of the chassis when entering a corner, and then extending from when it starts clipping too much to minimize stall when power is taken off. At the same time, energy efficiency is improved by reducing the time power is ON. The main chassis has been enhanced with an evolved front suspension to deliver increased rigidity from a reinforcing plate on the front that allows optimal movement of the suspension. Incorporating the direct servo saver into the steering servo increases the front load, allowing the chassis to be shaped so that the rear rolls and pitches flexibly in sync with the front. Oil damper is added for pitching control to improve the ground contact of the rear. When first developed, the Ext was focused on weight reduction and its 880g was lighter than the first generation. The commitment to light weight remains in this relaunched version with the inclusion of lightweight knuckle arms and wheel nuts.
