In addition, the included slipper clutch protects the transmission as well as delivers efficient traction that takes the Scorpion s control feel and durability to a new higher level. Precision 48 pitch gears reduce traction pulsation for direct driving control characteristics while the flat under surface of the countersunk chassis has no protruding screw heads for minimal contact resistance and scraping, resulting in higher durability. Stainless shafts combine with aluminum cylinders in the oil shocks for smooth stroke from top to bottom and running performance worthy of a true racing buggy. Like the original Scorpion, the 2014 version is packaged as an unassembled kit, but nearly all tapping screws and nuts have been replaced with the improved lightweight and security a hex screws. Based on the solid foundation of the Scorpion, the Tomahawk was modified and launched as a pure racing vehicle. On its release, the Tomahawk swept challengers away from Japan and around the world to create a legend that is still remembered by many R/C racers today. In response to many requests from R/C fans, Kyosho is proud to add the Tomahawk as the 3rd Immortal model in the Vintage Series. Incorporating metal parts from the 2014 Scorpion such as the 6061T6 aluminum main frame chassis, forged suspension arms, 2-piece aluminum diecast gearbox with built-in diff gears, the Tomahawk will always be a pure racing machine with its characteristic Spartan double deck. The new Tomahawk is not simply a reproduction of the original machine. Each key component has updated with modern R/C racing technology and power source to product superior circuit performance. After more than 30 years since the original release in 1986, this electric off-road competition model has been recreated as the sixth model in the Kyosho Vintage Series. Incorporating a resin pipe-frame body resembling the innovative aluminum pipe frame body of the 1/8 scale Land Jump engine powered buggy, the new Javelin features the proven performance of double wishbone suspension with a narrow backbone-style skid frame that delivers ideal geometry for wide-angled steering. This combines with the Javelin’s superior sealed compartment 4WD chain-drive system to produce excellent performance and durability. At the heart of the external features that faithfully represent the image of the Javelin of 30 years ago, this Vintage Series version is packed with modern racing performance potential and is compatible with modern power sources. At the heart of the drive system is a counter gear equipped with slipper function and a final gear case made from metal to strengthen its load bearing capacity. The king of 1/12 electric racing returns… with its captivating avant-garde design!  In august 1983, a mere six months after its debut, a new Kyosho machine blew its more established rivals away at the 5th JMRCA 1/12 Electric Racing Car Japan Nationals, held at a specially built track at Nakayama Racecourse Chiba Prefecture. RC on-road racing was changed for a generation by the 1/8 FANTOM 20 EXP 4WD engine racing car, and its bloodlines ran strong in the FANTOM EP 4WD. The FANTOM EP 4WD revives its glory days as the first on-road racing model and 9th addition to the Kyosho Vintage Series! The 1/12 on-road racing scene of the time featured a variety of designs such as 3-point suspension and 4-wheel independent suspension, 4WD ladder-chain drive + front one-way bearing system that normally didn’t produce front drive but drove the inside wheel when power was applied through turns for stable cornering and minimal drive loss. The FANTOM EP 4WD pioneered specs such as the FRP chassis that created a suspension effect that delivered optimal weight balance on the inside wheel. The 2020 version model not only recreates the look and feel of the original, but also maintains the superior cornering speed and stability, even on low grip surfaces, with its part-time 4WD and front one way. As with all Vintage Series models, each key component is consistent with the original design but has been improved to handle the latest power sources and deliver the FANTOM’s distinctive sharp handling and control on modern RC circuits. To handle the increased power of modern motors, the original resin front sprocket has been changed to an integrated machine cut steel one-way bearing holder for superior durability and reliability through the drive system. Precision CNC machined motor mount is hard anodized in white (clear). Low center of gravity is achieved through a lower motor mounting position that matches that of the machine cut motor mount, which was an optional upgrade at the time of the original Fantom. The rear axle is equipped with a height adjuster. Chassis height can be adjusted 1.3mm up-down by reversing the mounting direction. In addition, the wheelbase can be changed 1mm by swapping the left and right adjusters, thereby allowing adjustment of chain tension. Equipped with a 48-pitch gear differential incorporating ball bearing that delivers smooth operation, even with the side force of the original works-spec. Stamped FRP components have all been upgraded to CNC cutting. Independent servo saver mount plate used in later models is also included as standard. World beating racing buggy drives again! Revival of the famous Optima Mid! England 1987 was the scene of the 2nd IFMAR (International Federation of Model Race Cars) electric off-road world championships. In addition to the standard Optima, Team Kyosho entered a midship motor mounted prototype in the 4WD Class. Racing under its ‘Mid Optima’ project name, the prototype stunned the world making up five of the ten cars to qualify through to the A-Main Final, but unfortunately missing out of the top prize in finishing a credible 2nd to demonstrate its outstanding performance potential. The prototype was close to the final product released to the market under its official name ‘Optima Mid’ allowing racers around the world to experience its revolutionary capabilities. Still as popular as the original back in 1980, the Optima Mid joined esteemed company as part of the Kyosho Vintage Series with its revival in 2022. To commemorate Kyosho’s 60th anniversary in 2023, the original World Championship prototype spec Optima Mid will be released as a limited edition.
