$55.99
Dassault Mirage F-1 was developed to replace the renowned delta-wing supersonic fighter, the Mirage III, which had established the French aviation industry as a global benchmark in the 1960s. The Mirage F-1, in its fighter configuration, entered service with the French Air Force at the end of 1973 and, within a few years, replaced the earlier Mirage III fleet. Unlike its predecessor, it features a swept-wing design, which significantly improved its flight performance and manoeuvrability. Over the years, the Mirage F-1 evolved through continuous upgrades in onboard electronics, avionics, and weapon systems, enhancing its operational longevity. The aircraft also achieved significant commercial success, being adopted by numerous air forces worldwide to equip their fighter squadrons.

At the end of the 1930’s the Italian Regio Esercito (Royal Italian Army) began to deploy self-propelled artillery guns to provide support for tanks and infantry units. The ‘Semovente’ 75/18 was developed on the back of the ‘M’ series medium tank hull and soon became the most feared Italian armored vehicle. In addition to its primary artillery role, the 75mm howitzer installed in the casemate proved to be a highly effective anti-tank weapon, capable of destroying even the most powerful and heavily armored British and American tanks. During the war however, the Italian Regio Esercito requested the development of a version with increased offensive capability. The 75/34 cannon which was originally designed for an anti-tank role, was fitted to the hull of the M42 self-propelled tank. The initial units of which, were distributed to the Italian Army in the spring of 1943. As a result of its effective operational performance, it was also used by German anti-tank battalions after the armistice in September 1943.

To better meet the logistical and transportation needs in the challenging environmental conditions of the Eastern Front, the Wehrmacht developed tracked tractors capable of towing various types of vehicles and transporting different loads, including ammunition and supplies. The official designation of this series of vehicles, which were highly versatile in operational use, was "Raupenschlepper-Ost" (Crawler Tractor-East). The RSO was predominantly built by the Austrian company Steyr, which also developed an anti-tank version that was simple and cost-effective to produce, armed with the reliable and formidable 75mm PaK40 cannon. The vehicle essentially had the same technical structure as the tractor and featured increased frontal protection, given its operational use in direct contact with the enemy.

The Landing Craft Mechanized (LCM) is arguably the most famous landing craft in history, its profile intimately linked to Allied amphibious operations in World War II, from Anzio to the beaches of Normandy. The LCM-3 variant is certainly one of the most successful and effectively employed. The design was simple and straightforward yet extremely rational. The large front loading ramp allowed for the rapid disembarkation of a fully armed infantry squad as well as a 30-ton medium Sherman tank. The armor was very light, protecting the diesel engine, which enabled the LCM to reach a maximum speed of 8 knots, and the crew required for navigation and close defense, consisting of four men. However, significant was its loading capacity and operational flexibility, which allowed the LCM-3 to carve out an important place in 20th-century military history.

The JU-87 dive bomber is certainly one of the best known aircraft of WW2. The characteristic "gull wing” aircraft gained great notoriety at the beginning of the war, and is considered, together with the Panzer Divisions of the Wehrmacht, as defining symbols of the Blitzkrieg. During the war, new versions with differing operational profiles were introduced. The Ju-87G was developed as an "anti-tank" version of the Stuka, to counter the vast array of enemy armored vehicles deployed on the eastern front post 1943.The Stuka “ace” Hans Ulrich Rudel proposed the addition of two 37 mm Flak 18 cannons housed in underwing pods to better counter this developing threat. With this configuration the Ju-87G "Kanonenvogel" proved extremely effective in the hands of experienced pilots.

At the start of the 2nd WW, Great Britain did not have all the technical equipment needed for such a conflict, therefore a lot of vehicles were ordered urgently. Motorcycles, mainly used by the well known DR “Dispatch Riders” for communication between different units, were converted from civilian bikes with small changes, like military color and the addition of frames for the canvas bags. Triumph proposed in short time the model 3HW, based on the civilian “Tiger 80”, with an overhead valve engine and parallel forks. This model served on all fronts where the British Armed Forces fought, such as Africa, Europe and Asia. After 2nd WW these motorcycles were delivered to many other nations, such as Italy and Greece, where the Triumphs served for a long time thanks to their reliability and robustness.

The F4 Corsair is considered to be one of the most successful carrier-based fighter aircraft to be developed during the Second World War, although, when it first came into service, the technical experts of the U.S Navy considered this large cantilever wing aircraft to be unsuitable for use on aircraft carriers. The Corsair obtained many outstanding aerial victories. In the Pacific Ocean theatre alone, the F4U shot down over 2,000 Japanese aircraft, with a loss of only 189 Corsairs, resulting in a kill / loss ratio which has never been equaled throughout history. This aircraft was produced for ten years, until December 1952, a fact which established the Corsair as the American aircraft to remain in production for the longest period of time after the Second World War. The F4 was also used extensively by the French Naval Aviation during the war in Indochina and the Suez campaign of 1956.

The renowned US Portland based company "Freightliner Trucks", which operates in the industrial vehicle sector and is owned by the automotive giant Daimler, is mainly known for being one of the key manufacturers of trucks used for “on road” transportation roles. However, it is also important to recognise the versatility and success over time, of those Freightliners that were dedicated to "heavy duties" jobs. In fact, market demand for "quarry and construction" vehicles saw strong growth in the late 1970s and early 1980s, subsequently impacting the production volumes of the main truck and heavy vehicle manufacturers. Freightliner designers have worked on the most suitable technical solutions to meet the needs of the construction market, namely, reinforced chassis and rear axles for greater payload, tough and sturdy tipping rear decks, optimized engines and transmissions for demanding loads and steep slopes.

The Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet is a modern twin-engine, carrier-capable, single-seat fighter directly derived from the original design of the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. Larger and heavier than its predecessor, it is characterized by significantly improved flight and combat performance. Noticeable evolutionary design changes can best be seen in the revised wing-shape which is able to ensure maximum performance, particularly in terms of maneuverability. Additional design improvements can also be seen in the newer intake ramps for the engines, and also in the enhanced tail design. The aircraft originally entered service with the United States Navy in the early 2000’s to replace the F-14 Tomcat, with the primary role of fleet air defense. Deployed with an increased mission range and the adoption of improved avionic systems, it is one of the more effective carrier-based fighters. It is armed with a 20mm M61 internal gun and can carry air-to-air missiles mounted on its under-wing hard points. The two-seater F / A-18F Super Hornet was designed and developed from its earlier single-seat version. It used the reliable mechanical components as the Mk 1 but adopted a new design based on a squared-style look able to be in line with the aesthetic and stylistic taste of the 70s. The product range was wide, declined in three body styles (2 doors, 4 doors and 3 doors station wagon), five type of engines and a significant variety of settings and configurations. The Escort Mk 2 was mainly produced in the Ford Group German plants and achieved a good commercial success. In addition to the more classic version, it was also released the Escort Sport version characterized by a more aggressive look and distinctive sport interiors. To compete, successfully, in World Rally Championship, a dedicated model, the RS 1800, was introduced to complete the line up. Successful results has been achieved. The team Waldegård Björn - Thorszelius Hans, that got the second place in the Wordl-famous Monte Carlo Rally in 1979, won the World Rally Championship at the end of the year.
