$89.99
Windstorm Dragon – wooden mechanical 3D puzzle from Ugears
Welcome to the dwelling of a wise and cunning beast guarding countless treasures he will only reveal to the one bold enough to face his mechanical magic! Behold – the magnificent Windstorm Dragon of the Ugears’ automatons collection is here to challenge your wits and skills in your next mechanical models adventure.
The Windstorm Dragon is a classic mythical reptilian, the embodiment of ancient might and power, presented in wood and animated by the wizardry of Ugears engineers.
Wooden DIY 3D puzzle Windstorm Dragon has an open-style design that allows you to see its mechanical heart – rubber-band motor – beating. The model has a winding key in the frontal part of its chest. To wind it up, hold the dragon by its body and rotate the key clockwise. Release the motor by pulling the start lever. This is when the magic begins: the arms, legs and even the whole body of the Dragon will start to move. And of course, the amazing pair of strong and beautiful wings will be set in motion. This is your Ugears Dragon’s very special feature: the bones of the wings are made of wood, but the rest is beautifully designed feathery paper cutouts. Softer and flexible material makes the flight look very realistic and leaves room for your own ideas.
The model can be set on a special support or hung on twine. It will look equally fascinating with its laser engraved scales and spiky tail. It’s a perfect gift for your family and friends.
Like all Ugears models, this automaton is made of high-grade wooden materials and comes with everything you need in the box. Solve the mechanical mystery of an ancient beast and become a Dragon Master with Windstorm Dragon Ugears model kit!

Ugears 70154 Aero Clock 320pc
$125.99
Aero Clock. Wall clock with pendulum – wooden mechanical 3D puzzle from UGEARS
The time has come! For years, we've been hearing the same question again and again from our loyal customers: "Can Ugears create a working clock model kit, one that actually keeps accurate time?" A working mechanical wooden clock has long been our #1 "most-requested" new design. Your dream has also been our dream, and our team of dedicated Ugears engineers and designers has been working hard to bring this shared dream into reality. Finally, the wait is over. Ugears is proud to present the Aero Clock, a fully-functioning DIY wall clock with pendulum.
The Aero Clock isn't just a 3D wooden mechanical model, or a pretty showpiece. The Ugears Clock is an actual working clock that you can build yourself, mount to a wall, wind up, then watch as the seconds, minutes, and hours tick by. The Aero Clock is an ingenious puzzle and DIY clock mechanism, unlike any other clock. It is a lovely piece of precise engineering that reveals the workings of a weighted pendulum clock to builders and viewers alike. Like all Ugears models, it also has that extra touch of whimsy, to captivate and charm our growing legion of fans.
This simple-yet-elegant Ugears clock is driven by the force of gravity pulling down a weighted bag (you can fill the bag with sand or salt). Raise the bag on its pulleys to wind the clock. As the weight slowly descends, it rotates a drive gear, which then rotates an escape wheel through a reducer. The clock features an adjustable weighted pendulum which interacts with the escape wheel through the steady tick-tock of the anchor mechanism. You can adjust the clock's ticking action to the second, by sliding the pendulum's top and bottom weights. The reducer also transmits rotation to an hour disc and a minute disc. One of the interesting features of our Aero Clock is that time is not read with rotating hands on a clock face, but rather a fixed pointer indicates time on the slowly-rotating, numbered hour and minute discs. Moreover, these discs rotate counterclockwise—did you know that before standardization, some clocks moved clockwise while others moved counterclockwise? In the role of "cuckoo” the Ugears Aero Clock features a model hot air balloon. The suspended balloon rapidly descends when the hour strikes, then slowly rises again over the course of the next hour.
The theme of the Aero Clock is early aeronautics. Take a trip back in time to the dawn of flight and the "balloonomania" that seized France and England in 1783 on the occasion of the first free aerial voyage in a balloon. This was followed two years later by the first aerial crossing of the English Channel by intrepid aeronauts Jean-Pierre Blanchard and John Jeffries. We love this wooden model clock's steampunk sensibility and spirit of adventure, and we think you will too! Imagine yourself a discoverer of new horizons and a conqueror of the four winds. The casing and intriguing wooden clock mechanism represent an air base located among the clouds, where zephyrs blow and filtered rays of sunlight dapple the machinery, while you, in the role of aeronaut, launch a new voyage of exploration on the hour.
The Ugears wooden model clock kit celebrates the role of clocks in exploration. Did you know the problem of calculating longitude, critical to accurate navigation at sea, was solved with a clock? The idea was proposed by Dutch mathematician Gemma Frisius in 1530, but it wasn't until the mid-18th century when English clockmaker John Harrison developed a series of shipboard clocks so precise (accurate to within a ⅕ of a second per day) that ship captains could at last calculate their position at sea to within a few nautical miles. By knowing the exact time back in London (Greenwich Meridian Time, or GMT), and calculating the time at current position with celestial observation, navigators could calculate where they were on the earth's surface. Latitude had been solved by the Phoenicians as early as 600 B.C. with celestial reckoning—measuring the altitude of the sun at noon, or the angle made between the North Star (or other navigational stars) and the horizon. But the longitude problem would bedevil explorers for another 2,000 years. Harrison was eventually awarded the £20,000 first prize (roughly $1.5 million today) established in Parliament's Longitude Act of 1714, after demonstrating the accuracy of his masterful clocks at sea. Now you too can become a clockmaker, with the Ugears Aero Clock model kit!
Released at a moment when the world seems to have slowed down, the Ugears Aero Clock, a wooden wall clock with pendulum that you build yourself, is both timeful and timeless in its simple elegance. This beautiful and functional wooden wall clock model is for horologists, for hobbyists, for explorers, for creatives and romantics of every stripe, anyone who is ready for new challenges and ready to take risks. If you've ever gazed up at the sky and thought, "I want to be there!" or looked at a pendulum clock and wondered, "How does that work?" then the Ugears Aero Clock is for you.
As you build the Aero Clock, a wooden wall clock with pendulum, you will learn the basic principles behind clockworks, how the steadying influence of a swinging pendulum operates through a rocking anchor, locking and unlocking the gears on an escapement one second at a time, thereby regulating the (slow) descent of a weight as it drives both power gears and timekeeping gears.
The Ugears' Aero Clock with pendulum is a marvelous puzzle, and the perfect family project. When you work together to assemble this DIY wooden clock model kit, you will experience the satisfaction of building something together, and not just any model, but an actual functioning timepiece. Afterwards, you'll have a beautiful object for the home, something your family can enjoy together as time goes by.
The Ugears Aero Clock with pendulum is a new and exciting addition to the Ugears collection of fascinating mechanical models, 3D puzzles, game accessories, wooden puzzle boxes, children's toys and education STEM Lab model kits.

Ugears 70156 Marble Run Cha...
$89.09
Marble Run Chain Hoist – wooden 3D puzzle from Ugears
What is it about marble runs that makes them so compelling? Kids (and adults!) can watch marbles going down a track, passing through various obstacles, for hours on end. Marble runs are fascinating, they grab our attention, and yet they're also relaxing. Marble runs and races have become an unexpected YouTube phenomenon, with thousands of videos racking up millions of views. You choose a marble to watch, to cheer for, you wonder which path it will take, you put yourself in the marble's place, imagining that you are right there with the glass ball, going on a marvelous, unknown journey, with twists and turns and surprises around every corner. The thrill is even greater when you've built the marble run yourself. Now you're not just passively watching a video, you're fully invested because you built a wondrous machine with your own hands.
Presenting the Ugears Marble Run Chain Hoist—an exciting combination of art and engineering. The Marble Run Chain Hoist is both a beautiful kinetic sculpture and an intricate toy that teaches as it entertains. This DIY wooden marble run features a chain hoist powered by a hand crank, and a series of tracks, each with its own unique and fun obstacle or element. Turn the handle clockwise to set the machine in motion, and watch as the wooden chain hoist collects and lifts the marbles to the top of the machine, where a 3-way switch distributes them on different tracks. One marble plunges down a chute with a loop-the-loop at the bottom; the next tumbles down the various stages of the cascades, while three others are collected in the accumulator then released down one of three short tracks. All marbles pass through the common tray or collector before returning to the chain hoist to be lifted on their next journey.
The Marble Run Chain Hoist is modular, and can be connected to other Marble Run Chain Hoists (2 or 4 models can be connected, in pairs) using special connectors (included). Attach two Marble Run Chain Hoists together frontally, or connect four together, both frontally and laterally, for a mini system of hoists and runs.
The world's tallest rolling ball sculpture, at 72 feet, is the "Energy Machine," located inside the Hong Kong Science Museum. At one foot tall our Ugears wooden marble run may not be the biggest, but we think it's the cutest! Multiple elements are packed into a compact space in our DIY Marble Run Chain Hoist, keeping you guessing which path your favorite marble will take. As marbles enter the 3-way switch each marble closes a "door" behind it, allowing the next marble to pass further. The third marble, passing through the last hole, opens the doors using a lever.
Experience the satisfaction of building your own intriguing, 3D puzzle/kinetic sculpture/marble run with your own hands. Everything you need for this fun DIY project comes right in the box, including pre-cut wooden boards, 10 marbles, wax and sandpaper (for optimal gear function). Each Ugears model kit, 3D puzzle, or brain teaser comes with a set of detailed, illustrated instructions in 11 languages. The Marble Run Chain Hoist has 400 pieces, is rated "Medium" level, and has an estimated assembly time of 7 hours. As you build this ingenious wooden marble run, you will learn about the action and interplay of drive gears and driven gears in gear sets, the delicate action of counterweights, and be intrigued by the mechanics of the 3-way switch and accumulator as they determine the marbles' course.
You and your family will have hours of fun constructing this DIY kit together, without need of glue or special tools. Just snap the wooden pieces out of their laser pre-cut boards, then snap them together and watch your marble run take shape. Our high-quality precision laser-cut pieces are made from natural wood composites, have a wonderful smell, and fit together snugly. If you break a piece during the build, no problem! Ugears models each come with a few spare parts, and if it's a unique piece that's damaged or broken, just contact our customer service and we will gladly send you a replacement part free of charge! Free replacement parts—just part of Ugears' commitment to customer service.
The fun doesn't stop with the build. With static models the completed model often gets put on a high shelf collecting dust. Not so with Ugears! Once you finish building this DIY marble run the fun is just beginning! Watch the wooden puzzle come to life as you crank the hoist to send the marbles on their adventures. For anyone looking for a toy that will give more than 5 minutes of fun, a marble run is certain to capture the attention of any child (or adult!).
Looking for a unique gift for home or office? The Marble Run Chain Hoist is an engaging way to relax your mind before going back to the task at hand, whether that's tidying your desk, sending out an email, or getting ready for your next zoom call. Everyone enjoys watching marbles pass through an intricate machine—it's just part of human nature! Perhaps there are some children in your life who would be delighted to help build this model and watch the marbles loop-the-loop, trickle down a counterweighted cascade, or take any of several other paths as they work their way to the bottom. The Marble Run Chain Hoist is a fun, unique gift idea for just about anyone in your life—for birthdays, holidays, any occasion or no occasion.
Let the good times roll!

Ugears 70159 Mini Bi-Plane ...
$17.95
Mini-Biplane – the new mechanical model by Ugears
The Wright brothers got it right. When these talented bicycle mechanics set out to build the world's first motor-driven, heavier-than-air airplane, they needed wings that could provide enough lift, yet be light and strong. They went with a biplane design, seen in early hang gliders. Biplanes have two fixed wings, one on top of the other, connected with supporting struts; the bracing permits a lighter wing structure. WWI flyers took to the skies in biplanes, and while the Red Baron is known for his iconic crimson triplane, most of his decorated combat career was spent in biplanes. Advances in aviation technology and materials made the biplane obsolete by the late 1930's, however, biplanes remain a fixture and fan favorite at airshows to this day.
Ugears is known for producing beautiful wooden DIY models characterized by a throwback, steampunk sensibility. Naturally, when we decided to add a flyer to our collection of "Easy" models for young modelers, we couldn't resist the beauty and historical significance of the biplane. The Ugears Mini Biplane model is both a fun toy and an attractive decorative item to place on the shelf. We opted for an open design, making the Biplane fuselage light and transparent, revealing the model's inner workings. Machines should not be mysteries! We want to encourage our young builders' natural curiosity, and help them learn about motors and simple mechanics.
The Mini Biplane wooden model has a turning propeller and is powered by a rubber band motor—just pull the model back along a surface to wind it up, then release and watch it go! No glue or special tools are required to assemble this DIY kit, just punch the pre-cut pieces out of their composite wood boards and snap them together. When assembling the airplane model, remember to lightly sand and wax the moving parts to make them run smoothly. The model's toy-like appearance and simple mechanics make the Mini Biplane an excellent starter model and introduction to the fascinating world of Ugears 3D puzzles, DIY model kits, automatons, robots, wooden puzzle boxes and STEM Lab model kits. As your child learns to build these delightful, engaging toys they will also be building their mechanical knowledge and aptitude.
The Mini Biplane will appeal to anyone who loves model planes or who is interested in aviation. It joins the Aviator (with its interchangeable airplane and helicopter components) and the Flight Starter models in our Ugears family of flyers (you could also count the fearsome Windstorm Dragon and beautiful Butterfly as flyers!). Are there any kids (or grownup kids!) who love airplanes in your circle of family and friends? Why not give them a Mini Biplane as a gift for their next birthday or for the holidays? The Ugears Mini Biplane is a fun, lightly challenging, and satisfying creative project for families to work on together, and an attractive addition to your home decor. Let Ugears help your child's imagination take flight!

Ugears 70161 Drift Cobra Ra...
$97.95
Assemble me. Burn tires!
We know you love car modelling and you love the Ugears Dream Cabriolet, Roadster, and U-9 Grand Prix. Well, make room on the shelf, because a powerful new mechanical model just muscled its way into the Ugears Automotive collection. Introducing the Drift Cobra Racing Car, a beautifully-styled, two-seat convertible—our twist on what may be the most revered sports car of all time: the Shelby Cobra 427. The Cobra 427, produced between 1965-67, had a 7.0 litre 450-510 horsepower engine, did 0-60 mph in just over 4 seconds, and had a top speed of 185 mph.
Carroll Shelby, a former race car driver and automotive designer, was hired by the Ford Motor Co. to develop a high performance racer able to compete with the dominant Italian race team of Ferrari. The Americans' four consecutive victories at the prestigious Le Mans 24-hour race between 1966-69, in Ford GT40s, is the stuff of legend. More recently, it was the subject of the Oscar-winning 2019 film, "Ford v Ferrari," starring Matt Damon as Shelby and Christian Bale as Ken Miles, the ace driver for the 1966 Ford team. The success of the cars coming out of Shelby's surfside Venice, California shop were the crest of a wave of American high performance supercars or muscle cars, characterized by powerful V8 motors placed into relatively lightweight, mass-produced, rear-wheel drive chassis. The Shelby Cobra stands out as an American icon, perhaps the greatest muscle car and most "posterized" car in history.
Designed for drag racing but street legal, muscle cars offer incredible automotive power at a relatively affordable price point. The scarcity and unbelievable auction prices today of some of these classic street beasts is due in no small part to the fact that they were often more car than their owners could handle, resulting in frequent crashes. Muscle cars have squared off in many an illegal street race, sometimes with ownership papers on the line (another way to lose your muscle car!). In that spirit, why not convene a gathering of model building friends, show off your newly-built Ugears Drift Cobra Racing Cars, put your car modelling prowess to the test and race for pinks! But remember: the first rule of Ugears race club is: you do not talk about Ugears race club. The second rule of Ugears race club is: you do not talk about Ugears race club!
Driven by a powerful spring motor, the Ugears Drift Cobra racing car has the fastest team of horses under the hood of any mechanical wooden model we know. The model is wound by means of a ratchet knob under the chassis. Before winding your 3-D wooden Drift Cobra model racing car, move the air filter that protrudes from the hood toward the windshield, and flip the switch in front of the passenger-side seat into the Lock position (parallel to the door). Now twist the ratchet underneath the car's body. After 6 to 6.5 turns of the knob the spring is fully loaded, and — vroom! vroom! — your racer is ready to roar! Set the gear shift lever, located between the driver and passenger seats, to the desired position (Reverse, Neutral, Drive). To start the model, set it down on a flat surface, slide the air filter forward, and watch your Cobra lay rubber in a spin out (start with the wheels turned to one side), do circles, or speed down the track in a straight line.
We think this 3D puzzle / DIY model is a beaut, with its fat tires, bulging curves (thanks to pieces that are precision laser-cut into fine 1mm plywood), a big open mouth up front, and open-air convertible design. This wooden car's moving parts include turning front wheels, doors that open, and a hood and trunk that can be raised. Instead of a rubber band motor we've used a powerful spring mechanism to provide the "muscle" in this racer and extend the model's usable life. The ratchet mechanism means you don't have to hold the knob the entire time you're winding the model—potential energy is stored with each twist, without slippage, until the strong internal spring is fully loaded.
To put the model in "drift mode," turn the front wheels fully to one side or the other, set it down on a smooth surface such as tile, and watch as the model peels out in a sideways skid (ideally, your model should make a half to a full revolution before continuing forward, depending on the driving surface and turn angle of the wheels). When the wheels are set in their straight position, the model covers a lot of ground—8 meters or more! Set the wheels in a gentler turn, or put the racer down on a less slippery surface, and watch your Drift Cobra complete two or three full circles.
The DIY model kit for the Drift Cobra Racing Car includes 370 parts, with an estimated assembly time of nine hours, and is rated Advanced level. Why not take a page out of Carroll Shelby's book and experience the pride and satisfaction of building a beautiful, functional automotive machine with your own hands. Everything you need for this challenging but doable DIY wooden puzzle project comes right in the box: high quality plywood boards with precision laser-cut pieces that you snap out then snap together without need of glue or special tools, a metal spring that powers the mechanism, and of course a set of detailed, illustrated instructions in 11 languages.
Ugears model kits appeal to builders and hobbyists who love quality, clever design, and who appreciate ingenious mechanical elements with real world analogues. The Ugears Drift Cobra Racing Car is a great DIY idea and perfect gift idea for the car lovers among your circle of friends and family. Anyone who loved the film Ford v Ferrari, who loves car modelling, DIY projects, 3D puzzles, or who appreciates outstanding mechanical and aesthetic design, is going to love the Drift Cobra Racing Car.

Ugears 70163 Vintage Alarm ...
$19.79
Vintage Alarm Clock by Ugears – decorative alarm clock with its own history
Brrriiiiiiiing! Time to wake up, in the last century! In an age before cell phones and digital alarms there once was a fantastical device called an alarm clock, with two bells mounted on top that were struck by an oscillating hammer. You would wind the clock with a ratchet key, set the alarm hand for the time you wanted to wake up, and when the clock's hour hand caught up to the alarm hand those bells would ring for all they were worth, until you turned it off or flung it against the wall (a one-time snooze option)! Can you believe such an amazing, simple-yet-ingenious mechanism ever existed?
The Ugears' Vintage Alarm Clock is a charming throwback, a decorative reminder of the mechanical alarm clock sitting on the bedside dresser in your parents' or grandparents' home. When you move the large gear on the side, the arrow hands of the Alarm Clock spin and the bells jangle, giving the wooden clock model its characteristic "clacking" alarm sound. While this decorative wooden model clock doesn't actually keep time, the hands of the clock are geared so that one complete rotation of the minute hand advances the hour hand one position. The clock face features design elements including the sun, plants, curlicues, and a progressing sundial, and sits atop columns that give the whole model an attractive architectural structure.
The Vintage Alarm Clock is a complement and companion piece to the Steampunk Clock in the Ugears catalogue. Both feature an openwork style of decorative carving and gearing, blending steampunk style with a slight tinge of Venetian appeal. Both models are rated "Easy" for beginners or junior builders, and both deliver a big decorative payoff and will harmonize perfectly together on your shelf or table. No glue or special tools are required to assemble this DIY clock model, just punch the pre-cut pieces out of their composite wood boards and snap them together, with a bit of sanding and waxing to make the gears run smoothly.
This DIY wooden model Alarm Clock is not just an attractive display piece, but includes dynamic motion and sound elements, including the careful gearing of minute and hour hands and the surprising inclusion of the clattering alarm. Ugears 3D puzzles, DIY model kits, automatons, robots, wooden puzzle boxes and STEM Lab model kits are known around the world for their ingenious mechanical actions and charming, unexpected extra touches. The Vintage Alarm Clock expands our collection of easy-to-assemble models, making it a great gift idea for children and adults looking for a fun, relatively easy DIY project to do at home on a rainy day.
The Vintage Alarm Clock will appeal to fans of retro steampunk design, horology, and anyone who has already enjoyed building the Ugears Steampunk Clock. Are there any clock lovers or watch collectors in your circle of family and friends? Why not give them a set of Ugears DIY clock kits as a gift for their next birthday or for the holidays? The Ugears Vintage Alarm clock is a fun, lightly challenging, and satisfying creative project for families to work on together, and an attractive addition to your home decor. So go ahead, pull out your phone and set an alarm reminder to buy the Ugears Vintage Alarm Clock!

Ugears 70164 Desert Buggy 80pc
$18.89
Welcome to the expanding fleet of vehicles in the amazing collection of Ugears wooden mechanical models. We would like you to meet our new little pet: the fast and fun Desert Buggy. This miniature dune buggy is ready to take you on a ride!
If you are new to the world of Ugears clever mechanisms, the Desert buggy is one of the models you want to start with. It won’t overwhelm you with the amount of details as some of our more advanced-level models might, yet, the assembly of the Buggy is an interesting and very engaging process. Here you will need to use the color step-by-step instruction manual that comes in the box, but no glue or extra tools are required – everything you need for assembly is provided with the set.
The Desert buggy is driven by a rubber-band motor. Due to an open style body design, you can see the movement of the gears and wheels in the working motor. Just wind it up, pull the switch in the rear side of the model and your dune buggy will dart ahead. Or not ahead: you can adjust the direction of movement of your tiny vehicle by turning its front wheels – make it run circles chasing its tail if you like! While the front wheels make your Buggy maneuverable, the back, driving, wheels also provide stability. The rear wheels are larger and have rubber-band tires that ensure better surface traction and a smoother ride.
Like all Ugears models, the Desert buggy is made of natural fragrant plywood, the quality of which is verified by European laboratories.
If you still aren’t convinced that the Desert buggy equals an exciting time, we’d say that only two Mini Buggies can beat how much fun you can have with this model. Why? The explanation is very simple – two Desert buggys is a race!

Ugears 70226 Steampunk Airs...
$37.79
Steampunk Airship | Assemble me. Take to the skies for grand adventures!
Build a cabin in the sky, suspend it from a balloon and soar away through the clouds on grand adventures with the Steampunk Airship, a fanciful wooden mini model zeppelin. This DIY mini dirigible has that throwback steampunk sensibility Ugears is known for, with a tugboat-style cabin and back porch, wind-up rubber band motor with Start/Stop switch, engine-driven propellers, spinning ship's wheel, movable stabilizers, and wheels that allow the model to turn back and forth up to 2m along a flat surface, giving the thrill of mechanical motion. Our whimsical Airship features only 170 parts and is rated "Easy" so that even beginners can build this fanciful flyer.
German inventor Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin worked on his concept and design for an inflatable airship for more than twenty years before patenting his invention in 1895. Perhaps one of his early sketches looked something like the Steampunk Airship? Commercial zeppelins have large cylindrical bodies made of fabric stretched over a rigid metallic frame containing the large gasbags that provide buoyancy. Our Airship is smaller-scaled, more personal and homey—you can imagine piloting your craft with a cup of tea on the table where you've spread out your navigational maps.
The Steampunk Airship is a fun, easy DIY project for anyone interested in aviation or model building. You won't need glue or special tools to build this retro wooden model Airship. With Ugears 3D puzzles and models you just punch the laser pre-cut pieces out of their art-quality composite wood boards and snap them together. Everything you need comes in the box, including instructions in 11 languages (Ukrainian, English, German, French, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Korean). Model kits also include a piece of sandpaper and wax so you can smooth and lubricate the moving parts to ensure smooth operation of your Steampunk Airship.
The creative process doesn't have to end once the model is assembled. Keep those juices flowing by painting, coloring or staining your Steampunk Airship in a color scheme of your choice (paints not included). Ugears models also look great in their natural wood state. Then engage in imaginative play, dreaming of the fields, lakes, mountains or oceans you will cross in your personal dirigible.
The Steampunk Airship joins the Mini Biplane, Mad Hornet, and Aviator (with interchangeable airplane and helicopter components) models in our Ugears family of fabulous flyers. The toy-like appearance and simple mechanics of the Airship make this charming mini model a great gift for your child, grandchild, niece or nephew. When you introduce young builders to the fascinating world of Ugears 3D puzzles, DIY model kits, automatons, robots, wooden puzzle boxes and STEM Lab model kits they don't just build delightful toys, they build mechanical competence. This lightly challenging DIY model will be a fun project for families to work on together, and a great addition to any child's bedroom decor.

Ugears 70228 Mini Locomotiv...
$39.59
Mini Locomotive | Assemble me. Get on the adventure express!
Ugears has designed some beautiful and challenging train models over the years, including the Locomotive, V Express Steam Train with Tender, and Hogwarts™ Express. With the Mini Locomotive from the Smart collection, we bring you a simple, "Easy"-rated DIY train model that anyone can build, including junior train enthusiasts. This rubber band-powered wooden train (locomotive plus tender) model has surprising get up and go in such a compact body, and is able to travel over 2m on a single winding. Sleek, retro styling harkens back to the 1930's—the last decade when coal-fired steam locomotives held prominence.
The locomotive features a wind-up ratchet key, "Start/Stop" switch for easy operation, and three main paired wheels with connecting rods, to send the train speeding away along any flat surface. The locomotive couples with an open coal tender that can be used to carry a favorite toy, snack or note to a loved one across the room!
To operate your DIY mechanical wooden train model, set the On/Off switch on the top front of the train to the "Off" position, give 6-7 turns of the ratchet dial on the side of the locomotive, place your train on the floor or on a table while holding it with your hand, then flip the switch to "On" and release. Rotational power is transmitted to the wheels through a gear block, while a flywheel slows and evens the acceleration of the train. The train's rubber band motor can be wound again and again, and if you ever need to replace the rubber bands this can be done easily by spooling out the line to which they are attached, using the ratchet key.
One of the great things about Ugears models is they can be built without glue or special tools. Everything you need for assembly comes right in the box. Just punch the laser pre-cut pieces out of their composite wood boards and snap together. Made from art-quality composite wood, Ugears models can be left in their attractive natural wood state, or colored, stained or painted in a color scheme of your choosing (paints not included). When assembling your Mini Locomotive remember to lightly sand and wax moving parts to make them run smoothly (wax and sandpaper included).
The DIY Mini Locomotive with tender is a great starter model for any youngster who loves trains, and provides an introduction to the larger fascinating world of Ugears 3D puzzles, DIY model kits, automatons, robots, wooden puzzle boxes and STEM Lab model kits. As your child learns to build these delightful, engaging toys they will also be building mechanical competence.
The Mini Locomotive will appeal to anyone who loves model trains, building things with their own hands, or to parents looking for an engaging craft project for a young builder. Get on the adventure express with Ugears' Mini Locomotive!

Ugears 70248 Rome Colosseum...
$17.95
Assemble me. Welcome to Rome!
The ancient Colosseum of Rome is something of a paradox: it is both a stunning architectural treasure from the ancient world, showing the heights to which human architecture and building skill can ascend, but also a testament to human depravity, a haunted arena where people were killed for sport and entertainment.
Construction on the Colosseum began under Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD and was completed a mere eight years later (with some subsequent modifications). Built of limestone, volcanic rock, and concrete, the Colosseum was and is the largest freestanding Amphitheatre in the world and could hold up to 80,000 spectators. What those spectators watched is another matter. Battles to the death among gladiators. Public executions. Animal hunts. Reenactments of famous battles, including naval battles for which the Colosseum was flooded. The Colosseum served up a stream of gore to a bloodthirsty public. After the fall of the Roman Empire the building was variously used for housing, workshops, a cemetery, a den for bandits, and a Christian shrine. Today it is a tourist attraction, a symbol of Rome, and the image on Italy's 5 euro cent coin.
The Ugears Colosseum model, from the World Cities collection, is a 1:1000 scale wooden DIY model of the iconic Amphitheatre, with dimensions of 100 x 75 x 85 mm. With 63 pieces made of art-quality composite wood, the Colosseum is rated "Easy" and can be built in about 30 minutes. You won't need glue or special tools to build the model, just push the pieces out of their laser pre-cut boards and snap them together. Illustrated instructions in 11 languages (English, German, Ukrainian, French, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Italian, Chinese and Korean) guide your build. This static 3D puzzle is perfect for display on a shelf or table in your home or office.
The Colosseum model will appeal to those who dream of travel to Rome, students of Roman history, architecture buffs, or anyone who wants to build and display a beautiful model of this icon of Rome.
