Built by English Electric at its Vulcan Foundry in Lancashire, the locomotive this RailRoad model is based on started life in January 1961 as D6705, going new to Stratford depot in London. After becoming 37005 under TOPS, it was rebuilt as a Class 37/5 in April 1985, which included replacing its EE generator with a new Brush unit, and a complete re-wire, with a consequent renumbering to 37501. It was then painted into its distinctive British Steel pale blue colour scheme, gaining Thornaby Kingfisher motif and British Steel logos. It was then named ‘Teesside Steelmaster’ in 1987. It was later modified for the proposed Channel Tunnel sleeper ‘Nightstar’ project (which was later aborted) to become a 37/6 in February 1995 and renumbered to 37601. It is currently one of six Class 37s leased by Rail Operations Group from Europhoenix for contracted movement of passenger stock, including EMUs. It was returned to its 1987 guise during a repaint in 2025. First introduced in 1998, the Class 66 revolutionised the rail freight sector in Britain and have become the most prolific type for heavy freight work. In 2000, a new 66/6 sub-class was created with a lower gear ratio version enabling heavier trains to be hauled, albeit at slower speeds. A total of 25 were put into service by Freightliner, numbered 66601-625 and some of these have since moved overseas for use with Freightliner Poland. Used mainly on oil, aggregate, and cement trains, 66601 is one of 22 still operating in the UK and, on 18th March 2025, was turned out at Eastleigh Works in a new green ‘Freightliner 60’ livery. We've faithfully recreated this locomotive in RailRoad model form, keeping plenty of detail but incorporating more durable features, making it ideal for a busy model railway layout. As the first member of class (originally to be designated Class 87/2 as the locomotives were seen as an upgraded version of the existing Class 87s), 90001 initially went to the Rail Technical Centre at Derby for testing in October 1987. It entered service at Willesden depot in October 1987 and, in 1989, was named ‘BBC Midlands Today’. That name was removed in 2004 and, ten years later, it was given the name ‘Crown Point’ while based at Norwich with Abellio Greater Anglia. In April 2020, it was bought by Locomotive Services Limited, Crewe for main line excursion work. They repainted it in the original InterCity ‘Swallow’ livery and renamed it ‘Royal Scot’. It is one of three Class 90s currently owned by LSL, the others being 90002 and 90026. The Class 90 is a type of locomotive designed for mixed traffic work on the 25kV AC overhead network as replacements for aging electrics such as the Classes 81, 82, 83, 84 and 85 that dated back to the 1960s. Between 1987 and 1990, 50 examples were built at BREL Crewe and put into traffic on the West Coast Main Line during the latter years of British Rail and were equally at home on freight and passenger traffic. Following privatisation of BR, the type served with various operators, such as Abellio Greater Anglia, Virgin Trains West Coast, GNER, and freight operators Freightliner and EWS. This RailRoad locomotive model of 90020 is depicted during its time as part of the EWS fleet when named ‘Collingwood’. The RailRoad Class 57 locomotive model brings you a detailed, yet durable version of a classic diesel locomotive. With sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings, this is a great example of a modern locomtive. Plus, it's DCC sound-fitted, ready for use on your HM7000 layout. The Class 57s were a rebuild of Class 47s, retaining the basic bodyshell. They were fitted with reconditioned EMD engines and similar traction motors to those used on the Class 56s. The initiative came from Freightliner growing increasingly frustrated at the poor reliability of its ageing fleet of Brush-built Class 47s. The work was carried out at Brush Traction in Loughborough between 1998 and 2004, with 33 remanufactured locomotives completed. Freightliner abandoned plans to convert further examples, instead choosing the new Class 66. Operators have since included Virgin Trains, Arriva Trains Wales, First Great Western, Colas Rail, Direct Rail Services, Rail Operations Group and Advenza Freight. 57306 was formerly 47814, it is still in service with GB Railfreight. Hornby R30419 OO SECR H Cla... $228.95
This OO gauge SECR H Class locomotive model is a faithful representation of Harry Wainwright's H Class. With sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings, this model is DCC ready with an 8-pin socket ready for upgrading to digital control. Designed by Harry Wainwright, 66 of these locomotives were built for the South Eastern & Chatham Railway at its Ashford Works between 1904 and 1915 for London suburban and semi-fast trains. Completed in June 1909, 161 engines carried the elaborate SECR livery, like the locomotive depicted by the model, until receiving a lined olive green livery when taken into SR stock and renumbered 1161 at the Grouping in 1923. It later became BR 31161 and was withdrawn at Tunbridge Wells West in November 1961 after a creditable 51 years and 5 months’ service Specifications Item Length - Without Packaging (cm): 13.2 Item Height - Without Packaging (cm): 5 Item Width - Without Packaging (cm): 3.5 Item Weight - Without Packaging (kg): 0.31 Item Scale: 1:76 Scale 00 Gauge Gauge: OO DCC Status: DCC Ready 6 pin socket Operator: SECR Designer: Harry Wainwright Minimum Curve (mm): Radius 2 Number of Parts: 1 Buffer Type: Sprung Metal Buffers Coupling Type: NEM Tension Lock Hornby Decoder Compatibility Primary: HM7000-8TXS: Bluetooth® & DCC Sound Decoder (8-pin)
