The 500 series 7000 series was converted to Kodama service between Shin-Osaka and Hakata in 2008, and began operating with a shorter 8-car formation. From autumn 2015 to March 2017, one train was given a special SHINKANSEN: Evangelion Project wrapping. The DE10 type, which belonged to JR Freight Aichi Locomotive Depot, was active in the Nagoya area for shunting, construction trains, and towing Class A return trains.
