Games Workshop Layer paints have a lighter pigment count than base paints, meaning they can be applied in multiple layers to help bring out extra detail on your miniatures. They’re particularly great for edge highlighting.

Layer – Step 1

Apply Layer paints to your palette and thin them to the consistency you want with water. Then, apply them over the base paints into areas where you want a brighter colour.

Layer – Step 2

If you want to pick out details and make them pop then successive applications of Layer paints, working from darker to brighter, will let you highlight areas so they stand out.
