Academy 18157 DaVinci Flying Pendulum Clock Plastic Model Kit Academy 18157 DaVinci Flying Pendulum Clock
ACADEMY
Academy 18157 DaVinci Flyin... $32.95 $36.99
Not your ordinary educational models, the da Vinci kits are based on the early designs of Leonardo da Vinci. The Flying Pendulum Clock needs no glue, paint or battery to finish and operate. Easy to build, it delivers a learning experience during assembly, and serves as entertainment when watching the completed timepiece operate. Da Vinci was fascinated by how timepieces operate. Based on one of his sketches, it uses the laws of motion and a vertical flying pendulum escapement to keep accurate time. The pendulum's weights, in a bucket suspended from a crane-style arm, act as the clock's power source. The weights propel the pendulum from vertical post to vertical post. As it flies it turns precision gears which in turn keep time. To speed up or slow the clock, adjust the weight-balance of the pendulum by adding or removing weights. In addition to many iconic works of art and inventions, the restless mind of Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519) was frequently occupied with adding to his voluminous notebooks, filled with designs for machines and structures. This model kit reproduces one of those designs -- a flying pendulum clock! The pendulum's weight acts as the clock's power source. This kit assembles without the need for glue, and instructions in English are included. This is an assembly kit of a space exploration vehicle or other non-fictional mechanism.

Leonardo Da Vinci (born in 1452, died in 1519) was undoubtedly one of the most brilliant people of the Renaissance and is widely regarded as one of the most talented people in history. He was not only an exceptionally talented painter, author of such masterpieces as "The Lady with an Ermine" or "The Last Supper", but also an extremely prolific inventor and innovator. One of the areas of knowledge that this outstanding man was particularly interested in were issues related to the flight of a man in the air. He created numerous designs of flying machines in this matter, and among them one can find a design that, to a very remote extent, can be considered the progenitor of modern helicopters. The project assumed the construction of a wooden aircraft, driven by a spiral-shaped rotor, similar in shape to the so-called worm screw. The rotor would be constructed of wood and stiff cloth. The propulsion was to be provided by four men who would move on the platform at the bottom of the aircraft. It is worth adding that the first designs of this aircraft were probably created around 1480, but more mature sketches can be found in the so-called The Atlantic Codex, i.e. the collection of notes by Leonardo da Vinci from 1489-1492. In addition to many iconic works of art and inventions, the restless mind of Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519) was frequently occupied with adding to his voluminous notebooks, filled with designs for machines and structures. This model kit reproduces one of those designs -- a rotorcraft flying machine! Although Da Vinci's design is physically unable to achieve flight, you can easily see how this device contributed to the invention of the modern helicopter. The spring can be wound and the wings rotated after assembly.

One of his many inventive designs was a specific Leverage Crane, which used a ratchet mechanism and a rack and pinion mechanism. This crane was supposed to be able to lift materials of considerable mass, using a relatively small force acting on its mechanisms. The use of a ratchet mechanism also meant that the crane could only turn in one direction during rotation. It is worth adding that during the design of this device, Leonardo da Vinci proved to be a great expert on the principles of mechanics. In addition to many iconic works of art and inventions, the restless mind of Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519) was frequently occupied with adding to his voluminous notebooks, filled with designs for machines and structures. This model kit reproduces one of those designs -- a leverage crane! Attach the included weight to the cable and use the ratchet lever to lift it up. This kit assembles without the need for glue, and instructions in English are included. This is an assembly kit of a space exploration vehicle or other non-fictional mechanism.

Inspired by the principles of Leonardo Da Vinci, the G.E.T. Clock has incorporated the mechanism of the real time pieces. An escapement is a device in a clock or watch that controls the motion of the gear train and transmits the energy from the movement to the pendulum or balance wheel. A tourbillion is a portion in a mechanical watch and is used to increase the accuracy by minimizing errors due to the effects of gravity. No one will be surprised by the statement that Leonardo Da Vinci was interested in all types of mechanisms, including the then timers measuring the passage of time. He also created his own designs of mechanical clocks, dominated by the so-called pendulum clocks. Among them, there is also a timer with two mechanisms, one of which was dedicated to measuring hours, and the other - to measuring minutes. Both were connected with each other by a system of gears and ropes. It is worth adding that the sketch of these pendulum clocks can be found in the so-called The Atlantic Codex, i.e. the collection of notes by Leonardo da Vinci from 1489-1492. The USS Intrepid (CV/CVA/CVS-11) was one of 24 Essex-class carriers designed and built by the United States in the 1940's. These ships formed the back bone of the United States Navy's Fast Carrier Task Forces that carried the war across the Pacific Ocean and to the shores of the Japanese homeland during World War II. Intrepid was built by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, in Newport News, Virginia. Her keel was laid just prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. Launched in April 1943; she was commissioned in August 1943. After a shakedown cruise in the Caribbean during the fall of 1943, she headed west, arriving at Pearl Harbor on January 10, 1944. She almost immediately went into action, participating on raids of the Marshall Islands that began on January 29th. With the Marshall Island neutralized and US Marine landings in progress, Intrepid shifted her attention to the Japanese stronghold of Truk in mid-February. On the night of February 17, 1944, she was stuck with an aerial torpedo, which partially disabled her rudder. She was able to return to Pearl Harbor for temporary repairs by steering with her engines and erecting a jury-rigged sail that helped keep her on course. An injection molded, modernized angle-deck Essex Class carrier has been a 'holy grail' item for many ship modelers for a long time. It's well molded with crisp details.  Features Full-hull design with separate SQS-23 dome on bow (hinting at other versions coming in the future) Very straightforward construction Awesome photo-etched details under the elevators Positionable forward flight deck elevator Positionable port side elevator Positionable aft-starboard elevator Positionable crane Photo-etched radar dishes Includes 4 x A-4B/C Skyhawk 2 x E-1B Tracer 4 x A-1H/J Skyraider (identified in instructions as EA-1F) 4 x F-8C Crusader 4 x UH-2B Seasprite

COE m.1939 is a rare and historically significant truck that played a key role in the development of American commercial transport. Its innovative design maximized cargo space and improved maneuverability for urban environments. The defining feature of this model is the placement of the cab directly above the engine. This configuration shortened the overall length of the truck, allowing for a longer cargo area and a tighter turning radius, which was ideal for city driving and narrow streets. A 3-speed or heavy-duty 4-speed manual transmission was standard equipment.
