$43.95
From the perspective of a student pilot, the de Havilland Tiger Moth was a relatively stable and forgiving aircraft to fly, possessing few handling vices and being generally supportive of the odd silly mistake by the novice pilot. It quickly gained a reputation as being an ‘easy aeroplane to fly, but a difficult one to fly well’, qualities which seemed to make this the ideal aircraft to serve as a primary/basic trainer for large numbers of pilots destined to fly operationally during WWII.At the start of the war, the RAF had around 500 Tiger Moths in service, but would requisition hundreds more from flying clubs up and down the country. The De Havilland Tiger Moth is a British mixed training biplane with a fixed undercarriage. The prototype flight took place in 1931. The first production version, powered by the 120hp de Havilland Gipsy III engine, was the Mk.I. Soon after, however, the engine was changed to the de Havilland Gipsy Major with 130hp, and this is how the Mk.II version was created. Serial production started in 1933 and continued until 1944. The Tiger Moth was one of the RAF's primary training aircraft during World War II.Markings

E-75 Mech Twin 50mm Guns Assault Tank
The E-75 Mech Twin 50mm Guns Assault Tank is a specialized anti-infantry and light-armor combat variant of the E-75 Heavy Mech series. Retaining the Type G's turret design, this version replaces the 128mm high-velocity cannon with dual 50mm autocannons, significantly improving its ability to engage infantry, light vehicles, and lightly armored targets.
With a total production of approximately 400 units, this variant was designed to operate in supporting roles, providing rapid sustained fire against enemy forces while retaining the ability to penetrate light and medium armor. It proved to be effective in urban combat and combined arms operations, where its high rate of fire and maneuverability allowed it to outmatch conventional armored vehicles.
Development and Design
Following the deployment of the E-75 Type G, commanders identified a growing need for a mech variant that could effectively counter infantry formations while maintaining some level of anti-armor capability. The twin 50mm autocannon system was selected due to its high rate of fire, moderate armor penetration, and versatility against both infantry and light tanks.
This design allowed the E-75 Twin 50mm Assault Tank to serve as a mobile fire-support unit, rapidly suppressing enemy positions and engaging light armored vehicles and fortifications. While its 50mm cannons lacked the armor-piercing power of the 128mm main gun, they were capable of flanking heavy tanks and destroying them from the side, making this mech a valuable asset in tactical battlefield maneuvers.

The Ki-74-II Otokai is a high-speed bomber for the Japanese Army, developed and manufactured by Tachikawa Aircraft at the end of the war using technology introduced by German submarines. It was being developed as a long-range reconnaissance aircraft for the Soviet Union, which was considered a de facto enemy, but its specifications were changed midway through to a high-speed bomber capable of strategic bombing.
This "Otsukai" demonstrated better performance than expected in test flights, and the Imperial Headquarters made a plan for a counter-landing on Allied-controlled Saipan in cooperation with a ground landing force. A total of 14 of these aircraft were actually manufactured and distributed to independent squadrons.
During the Saipan Reverse Landing Operation, the 2nd Independent Squadron acted as a lead bomber and caused extensive damage to parked B-29s and the runway, but despite being supported by sufficient escort aircraft, they returned home. There were only three aircraft.
The reason for this is unclear, as many officials have remained silent other than to state that it was not a problem with the aircraft, but there is a belief within the Graduate School of Military History that even if the new American bomb were to be used at the cost of lives, it would be completely unacceptable. It is said that this was probably due to the pilot's intention to confirm the destruction.
After the war, a number of documentaries were produced stating that without this aircraft and Kabuto Kai's role in the Saipan Reverse Landing Operation, ``Japan could have become the first country in human history to drop nuclear bombs on humans.'' However, most of the programs end with the conclusion that ``the United States would never have used nuclear weapons against humans in the end anyway.''

Focke-Wulf Fast Bomber WWII LUFTWAFFE Secret Project F
In the tumultuous years of the 1940s, a shadowy project emerged from the corridors of innovation, shattering the conventional norms of aviation. The FW 1000, a jet fighter-bomber that soared beyond the boundaries of its era, was a testament to audacious vision and pioneering ingenuity.
What set the FW 1000 apart was not merely its propulsion system or weaponry, but its radical flying wing design—a sleek and seamless silhouette that challenged the very essence of conventional aircraft. Conceived as a triad of speed, range, and payload, the FW 1000 was a daring dream etched in the annals of aviation history.Over time, you can continue to expand your collection by adding new models, including limited-edition releases, special paint schemes, and models from ModelCollect
With a mind-bending top speed of 1000 kilometers per hour, the FW 1000 sought to redefine the limits of aerial velocity, pushing the boundaries of what was deemed achievable in the 1940s. Its impressive range of 1000 kilometers was no less revolutionary, envisioning a strategic reach that could alter the dynamics of military operations.
Yet, perhaps the most astonishing feat was the aircraft's payload capacity—a formidable 1000 kilograms of bombs. The FW 1000 was not merely a speed demon; it was a formidable force capable of striking with precision and power.

Airfix 11007 1/48 Fairey Ga...
$99.99
An aircraft that must surely be considered one of the most distinctive types to have ever seen Fleet Air Arm service, the Fairey Gannet was as capable as it was unique and was significant as the only post-war military contract to be won by the famous Fairey Aviation Company. Arguably the most unconventional Fairey designed aircraft to enter full production, the Gannet was developed in response to a 1945 Royal Navy requirement for an advanced carrier-based, turboprop-powered anti-submarine hunter-killer, one which was rugged enough to withstand the rigors of operation at sea.
Intended to counter the recent expansion of the Soviet submarine fleet at the start of the Cold War era, the Gannet was equipped with all manner of the latest electronic detection equipment and if an enemy submarine was detected, it could be marked, tracked, and if necessary, attacked, using bombs, depth charges, rockets, and air-launched acoustic torpedoes.
One feature of the Gannet which helped to give it a unique appearance was the adoption of its powerplant, the innovative Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba. This arrangement saw two gas turbine engines mounted side by side in the nose of the gannet, sharing a common gearbox, but both operating independently, each engine driving its own coaxially mounted, contra-rotating propeller. In addition to this, the engines could run on kerosene and even diesel fuel, which was safer to handle and less refined than traditional aviation fuels.
This arrangement provided Gannet crews with more than enough power for carrier operations, with the reassurance of two engines when embarking on long ocean patrols. Once in flight, the pilot could shut down one of the engines to conserve fuel and whilst this would reduce the Gannet's maximum speed, it would extend its loiter capabilities. Usually, a pilot would alternate engine use during a long patrol, running each engine for around an hour before swapping to the other engine - the engine mounted on the port side drove the front propeller.
Another unique feature of the Gannet's design was its bi-folding wing system, something which was designed to allow this large aircraft to operate safely and to be stored aboard one of the Royal Navy's relatively small aircraft carriers. When a pilot engaged the wing unfold, this ingenious system not only prepared the wings for flight, but also automatically connected all flight control systems, hydraulic connections and fuel pipes to the main system, without any ground crew intervention.
In operation, there are reports that the Gannet was so rugged a design that when one aircraft lost the outer sections of both wings after performing a particularly violent manoeuvre, the aircraft still managed to make it back safely to its home carrier, something which can only have endeared the aircraft to its crews still further.
The Fairey Gannet would prove to be an extremely rugged and highly effective anti-submarine aircraft, one which could carry an impressive array of offensive ordnance and one which was able to attack submarines either on the surface, or when submerged and trying to evade its attentions. Well-liked by air and ground crews alike, 348 Gannets would eventually be produced and in addition to serving with Britain's Fleet Air Arm, the aircraft would also see service with the navies of Australia, Germany and Indonesia.

Fighter jets have continued to develop since they were first seen in late WWII, to the point where modern day aircraft such as the F-35 Lightning II and F-22 Raptor are often called "fifth generation" fighters; qualities such as their highly advanced stealth characteristics and network connectivity set them apart from earlier fighters. Developed under the Joint Strike Fighter Program (JSF), the F-35 integrates multiple functions into its design and there are three types at the time of writing: the F-35A conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) aircraft, the F-35B short take-off, vertical landing (STOVL), and the F-35C, with its larger wing and tail; across these three variants, the F-35 can accomplish various missions without impacting upon its observability and exemplary maneueverability. Multiple sensors are at the heart of its advanced capabilities, and the wealth of data harvested is shared via multifunction advanced data link, helping provide the crew with outstanding information via a large cockpit display and the helmet-mounted display system. The F-35's maiden flight was in December 2006, and deployment with air arms in the U.S., Italy, Japan and more is planned, as the aircraft appears set to take on a major role in the defense landscape in years to come.

Tamiya 61114 1/48 Grumman F...
$136.95
From its first test flights in 1970 through to its retirement in 2006, the F-14 Tomcat is a carrier-based fighter that has captured the imagination; its variable sweep wing allowed automatic adjustment for optimum performance and an impressive combination of speed and maneuverability. It had a powerful AN/AWG-9 fire control system that could use AIM-54 Phoenix missiles to take on multiple targets from range. 477 of the 632 Tomcats supplied to the U.S. Navy were the early F-14A variant; their delivery to units began with carrier squadrons in 1973, and its combat debut was in the 1975 evacuation from Saigon. It was later in action in conflicts in Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan. Seventy-nine F-14As were also supplied to Iran before the 1979 Islamic Revolution and some still remain in service today.
This specific model kit depicts the F-14A Tomcat variant. The F-14A was the initial two-seat, twin-engine, all-weather interceptor fighter variant for the U.S. Navy. It first flew on December 21, 1970. As a U.S. Navy fighter it fulfilled the dual roles of long range interceptor and air superiority fighter, and later bomber. Deployed from 1974 to 2006, it successfully employed a "swing wing", which offered variable sweep. The F-14A, which covers most of the early variants, was the most prolifically-produced variant of the Tomcat. 79 were exported to Iran before U.S.-Iranian relations began to deteriorate, and later took part in the Iran-Iraq War.

Airfix A06014 1/72 Heinkel ...
$58.95
First flying in 1935 when Germany was banned from building bombers under the Treaty of Versailles, the Heinkel He111 was at first disguised as a fast transport plane. However its real purpose soon became clear when it was used as a bomber during the Spanish Civil War. The early variants proved to be capable fast bombers with only small numbers being lost to enemy action.
By the start of the Second World War the He111 had undergone some major changes, resulting in the P model. The engines were now more powerful Daimler Benz DB601 units, and there was an enlarged glass nose section housing the majority of the crew. This afforded them excellent visibility but made them very vulnerable.During the Battle of Britain the P variant was being phased out, but it continued to serve in some numbers. Against the modern RAF fighters the He111 now suffered from a lack of speed and defensive armament. Before being switched to night duties the He111 formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe's bomber force, but did suffer some heavy casualties.

The Hawker Hurricane was the RAFs most vital fighter in the early years of WWII. These tough, partly fabric covered monoplane fighters put in a valiant defence against the numerically superior Luftwaffe during the Blitzkrieg. Although slower than the Messerschmitt Bf109, and with a less destructive armament, the Hurricane was able to turn tighter and absorb considerable punishment.

An aircraft that is undoubtedly one of the most significant in the history of aviation, the Hawker Siddeley Harrier GR.1 was developed from the Hawker P.1127 experimental aircraft produced to test the possibilities of V/STOL vectored thrust flight. These aircraft would successfully master the transition from hovering to forward flight and back to the hover, despite several of the development aircraft suffering accidents during testing. The prospect of a viable V/STOL aircraft proved to be of great interest to both the British and US military, who funded further development of the aircraft. The new 'Jump Jet' was an instant hit with the British public, who marvelled at the ingenuity of their aviation industry, which was once again proving to be the envy of the world. As the consummate display performer, the Harrier was always a popular display item with Airshow crowds, with the two forming a bond which would last right through the Harrier's long service career. In the eyes of the British public, no Airshow was complete without a display from Britain's world-leading Harrier.Entering Royal Air Force service in April 1969, the operational flexibility offered by the Harrier GR.1 ensured the aircraft would never find itself too far away from potential conflict hotspots. Not confined to operating from military airfields, Harriers could be concealed in forest clearings or dispersed to sections of motorways, or even school playgrounds, but with the intention of keeping their location concealed from the enemy. With many of these early Harriers deployed in West Germany, they would act as a significant deterrent against Eastern Bloc aggression, potentially lurking in many undisclosed locations, poised to strike against attacking Soviet armour at a moment's notice.Specifications

Representing the primary production variant of the Messerschmitt Me262 jet, the A-1A was the fighter-bomber version of the aircraft desired by Hitler, capable of being used as an interceptor, or configured to carry bombs and air-to-air mortars on nose mounted pylons.
With the aircraft’s powerful nose mounted cannons used to devastating effect against the massed formations of USAAF bombers attacking Germany, the offensive firepower of the jets could be further enhanced by the addition of R4M ‘Orkan’ (Hurricane) rocket packs under each wing.
Mounted on rudimentary racks made from wood, twelve R4M stabilised rockets could be carried under each wing, each one capable of bringing down an enemy bomber.
