The F-4 Phantom II was originally conceived as a carrier-borne fighter for the U.S. Navy in the late-1950s but was eventually also adapted by the U.S. Air Force and Marines in addition to the air forces of many other countries. This model kit can depict the first variant used by the U.S. Air Force, the F-4C, as well the subsequently upgraded F-4D.

The U.S. Air Force implement a realistic training program called “Red Flag” to improve both pilot air combat skills and survival rate. At Red Flag, pilots are divided into both friendly and hostile forces, with the latter called “Aggressor” which have specially selected pilots at the helm. Making up the core of these “Aggressor” forces are F-16C Block 30, 32, & 42 aircraft which are dressed up as Soviet MiG and Sukhoi aircraft with distinctive blue and brown camouflage patterns. Also, the U.S. Navy's hypothetical enemy force is called “Adversary” and use the F-16N aircraft with training held at their Navy Fighter Weapons School, famously known as “TOPGUN”. The North American P-51 Mustang is an American, single-engine, long-range fighter and attack aircraft with a classic tail and all-metal construction. The flight of the prototype took place on October 26, 1940. The P-51 Mustang has earned a reputation as one of the best, if not the best, WWII fighter. Replacing the Allison V-1710-39 engine from the first project with a Rolls-Royce Merlin motor (P-51 Mustang Mk.Ia version) made the Mustang, like never before, reached perfection. A Little Japanese Gem
The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was the Japanese Navy's mainstay fighter throughout WWII. The A6M5 (Model 52) variant followed the A6M3 (Model 22) and was developed to counter the ever more powerful American fighters. This variant featured an exhaust system which provided a small amount of thrust and rounded wingtips which improved dive and roll performance as well as maximum speed. It was first introduced in the autumn of 1943 and went on to serve valiantly until the end of the war.

The Nakajima B5N is a Japanese three-man bomber-torpedo aircraft in the low wing configuration of the Second World War. The flight of the prototype took place in 1937, and it was put into service a year later. The B5N was a response to the requirements of the Imperial Navy for the new on-board torpedo plane. Work on the construction, led by Katsuji Nakamura, continued in the years 1935-1937. When the war in the Pacific broke out, the B5N was an aircraft better than competing Allied machines, especially the TBD Devastator. The most widely produced version of the aircraft was the B5N2 Model 12, which was created in December 1939 and which used a new engine - Nakajima NK1A Sakae 11 with a power of 970KM. B5N planes took part in many battles in the Pacific and performed very well in the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway. From around 1943/1944, these aircraft were transferred to aviation schools and served as kamikaze aircraft. About 1150 copies of all versions were produced.

The British Sopwith Camel, a wooden biplane fighter aircraft from World War I. It owes its nickname to the "hump" in front of the pilot's cockpit, which housed machine guns. The Camel was the successor to the successful Sopwith Pup fighter. The first flight of the prototype took place in December 1916, and deliveries to front-line units began in the summer of 1917. The first series batches required great skills from the pilots and showed an asymmetry of flight characteristics unseen in other Allied machines. Over time, however, the Camel gained a reputation among pilots as a very maneuverable, solid machine with a good rate of climb. It was a worthy rival for German machines from the Albatros or Fokker factories. Several versions of the Camel were created during the war. The most important of them are: F.1 - fighter, F.1.3 - night fighter, TF1 - attack aircraft (Trench Fighter), 2F.1 - carrier-based fighter. Thanks to the start of serial production by eight different aircraft manufacturers, it was possible to produce as many as 5,490 machines during the war. The Ilyushin Il-2 Shuturmovik was the Russian military's main ground-attack aircraft during WWII. It was so important to the Russian war effort that Joseph Stalin personally intervened to ensure a high rate of its production. Over 36,000 examples were built by the end of the war, making it the most produced military aircraft in aviation history. The aircraft was characterized by armor that was integrated into its airframe to provide protection for vital areas such as the cockpit, engine, and fuel tank. Production of the single-seat version of the Il-2 began in March 1941 but severe losses led to the development of a two-seat version with a rear gunner. A version which featured outer wing sections swept back at 15-degrees for a better center of gravity was introduced in late-1943. Together with the T-34 tank, the Il-2 contributed greatly to the eventual Russian victory.

What is the "Wild Weasel"? A special aircraft whose main mission is to suppress enemy air defense networks.
The Wild Weasel IV is a successor to the F-105G, a modified F-4C designed specifically for SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defense) missions. Its main mission is to use various sensors such as the AN/APR-25, -26 and ER-142 to locate enemy SAM (surface-to-air missile) site tracking/guidance radars or radar waves emitted from radar sites and their location, and then attack them with anti-radar missiles such as the AGM-45.It is nicknamed "Wild Weasel" because it resembles a weasel crawling on the ground in search of prey.

The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is an American, single-engine, metal-framed, low-wing fighter-attack aircraft with a classic tail. The prototype first flew in 1938, and serial production took place in 1938-1944. The last of the Hawk family, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, was, apart from the Republic P-47 and North American P-51 Mustang, the most widely built American fighter. By the time production ended in December 1944, the number of aircraft had exceeded 15,000. The development of the design began in 1937, when the prototype airframe of version 75 was adapted to accommodate the Allison V-1710-11 inline engine with a power of 1,167 HP. The aircraft became the first American design capable of flying at a speed of over 483 km/h. The version for the RAF was called the Tomahawk Mk IIA. The aircraft had self-sealing fuel tanks and two 7.7mm machine guns mounted in the wing. The Tomahawk MkIIB had American radio equipment and were armed with six 7.7mm machine guns. Some American P-40s were modernized in 1941 for reconnaissance duties. They received the designation RP-40. At the same time, work was underway at Curtiss on the conversion of the Hawk 81-A. The changes included the installation of an Allison V-1710-39 engine with 1,167 hp, providing constant power to an altitude of 3,563 meters, adaptation to the installation of four 12.7mm machine guns in the wing and the installation of an under-fuselage unit that could be used to carry one 227 kg bomb or a jettisonable additional fuel tank. The US Army placed an order for these aircraft in September 1940, assigning them the designation P-40D. Over the next three years, Curtiss made every effort to expand the P-40's capabilities, creating numerous new versions of the aircraft. Despite these efforts, the Warhawk's performance was lower than that of contemporary Allied and Axis fighters. Based upon our popular 1/48 Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat (Item 61034), this kit authentically recreates the FM-1 featuring four machine guns with both the U.S. Navy and Royal Navy markings and one sitting pilot figure.
The deployment of the Grumman F4F-3 Wildcat, which was one of the main U.S. Navy carrier-based fighter, started in 1940, and in 1942, the F4F-4 was introduced into service. This aircraft employed a foldable wing for efficient use on flight decks while 12.7mm machine guns were increased from four to six. With its bulletproofing, rigid fuselage and its pilots' tactics, the F4F-F was more than equal to the Zero fighter. Although the F4F-F gave its position to aircraft equipped with 2,000hp-class engine such as the F6F Hellcat and F4U Corsair after WWII onward, this aircraft, which was suitable for use on small flight decks, constructed its presence as the aircraft to be deployed on escort carrier and to enhance air force. While the Grumman focused on the F6F production, Eastern Air Lines took over the production of the F4F-4 variant which was called as the FM and its first production variant FM-1 was mostly the same as the F4F-4 except for decreased (from six to four) machine guns. The Wildcat was introduced to the Royal Navy and was known as the Martlet (fictitious bird often seen in the English coats of arms). This aircraft continued to see action as anti-submarine patrol and convoy escort until the end of war.

With over 30,000 produced, the Messerschmitt Bf109 is the most prolifically manufactured fighter in history; of its variants, the G-6 was the most numerous at 13,000 aircraft.
In response to improving Allied foes in the air, Bf109 G aircraft had the more powerful DB605 engine, and from the G-6 were equipped with dual 13mm MG131 machine guns that required the distinctive bulges on either side of the cockpit cowling known as "Beule." Some were even given a 20mm cannon gondola under each wing for further improved firepower.
The Bf109 G-6 was deployed on both the Western and Eastern fronts, in particular dominating Soviet adversaries as it continued in service through to the end of WWII.

An Ambitious Design
The F-35® Lightning II is an ambitious project that aims to provide - in a single overarching design - aircraft tailored to three different services' distinct needs; that it does in the form of the F-35A (for the Air Force), F-35B (Marines) and F-35C (Navy). Perhaps the most stunning of the three is the innovative F-35B, which was designed to succeed the AV-8B Harrier II, and is a short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) aircraft thanks to a lift fan installed between the cockpit and the engine, plus the 3 Bearing Swivel Module mechanism. Rather impressively, it also manages to combine extremely low observability characteristics with exemplary situational awareness provided by the numerous sensors across the aircraft. The Spirit of the Horten Brothers Revived Through SWS!
From a young age, the Horten brothers were fascinated by gliders and flying wing aircraft. Under the guidance of Dr. Lippisch, designer of the Me 163, they pursued flying wing prototypes, culminating in the formal adoption of the Ho 229. Although several high-performance variants were planned, none saw combat before the war ended. Among these, the two-seat night fighter was considered the most practical. It featured a narrow tandem cockpit, with a radar operator seated in the rear, and a FuG 220 Lichtenstein radar antenna mounted on the nose, same as the He 219, for night interception.
The SWS kit faithfully recreates this advanced concept as the Ho 229 B Nachtjäger, based on detailed research from actual He 219 and Luftwaffe night fighter documentation. Even under the pressures of late-war Germany, the Ho 229 B exemplified bold and forward-thinking design. Now, through SWS, this “Bird of prey of the Luftwaffe” can take flight once more in your aircraft collection.
Jumo 004 engine
The world's first practical axial-flow turbojet engine, used in combat. In SWS kit, its internal structure is reproduced in such detail that you can see clearly how the air flows from the intake port into the engine and is transformed into thrust.
Landing gear (nose gear, main gear)
Since flying wing aircraft cannot be equipped with high-lift devices, they inevitably have a higher landing speed and have to rely to some extent on the nosewheel to maintain a level landing. As a result, like the Ho 229, the Ho 229 B is equipped with a huge nosewheel the same size as the Do 335's main wheels, and the landing struts are also thick and sturdy.
Cockpit
As a two-seater night fighter, the cockpit was narrow from side to side, with two tandem seats arranged side by side, and the radar operator sat in the rear seat.
FuG 220 Liechtenstein radar antenna
It is equipped with the same engine as the He 219.
Mk 108 30mm cannon
Two additional guns are mounted on each side at the base of the left and right wings, giving a total of six heavily armament guns, including two Mk 103 guns!

The Ho 229 B: Outstanding Features at a Glance!
1 Jumo 004 engine
The Jumo 004 engine: the first axial-flow turbojet used in combat. Axial flow fans, also known as propeller fans, are characterized by their high airflow and low pressure, making them ideal for cooling and heat dissipation. The SWS kit meticulously reproduces the internal structure, demonstrating how air is drawn in through the intake port and transformed into propulsive force within the engine.
2 Wing Internal Fuel Tank
Two tanks (four in total) are installed on each side, one in the front edge of the wing and one inside the wing. This configuration enables long-distance flight!
3 MK 103 30mm cannon
Same as Ho 229, it is equipped with two cannons (one on each side) at the base of the main wings!
4 MK 108 30mm cannon
Two additional guns (four total) have been added to the base of ③ and ④! If attacked by two types of cannons (six total), even a bomber would be no match.
5 Cockpit
The two-seater night fighter features a narrow front-rear tandem cockpit. The rear cockpit has a radar scope.

The canopy has been changed to a long, two-seat type.

This flying wing design lacks vertical stabilizers, reducing radar reflection. Carbon-based paint enhances stealth. The wings were made of wood and incorporates a 1.05° washout to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency.

Flying wing aircraft, which cannot be equipped with high-lift devices to enhance lift, inherently require higher landing speeds. Due to the difficulty of landing at a high angle of attack (the angle between the line of sight and the horizontal plane), they must maintain a level attitude during touchdown. Consequently, landings rely more heavily on the nose landing gear. Like the Ho 229, the Ho 229 B has a large nose wheel—same size to the Do 335’s main gear—and reinforced struts to withstand the impact of takeoff and landing with high-thrust jet engines.Notably, while real aircraft tires typically bear the manufacturer's logo, this model features a deliberately altered design with the fictional “OONTINENTAL” branding by Zoukei-Mura.
Control Surfaces and Deceleration Devices

In flying wing aircraft lacking conventional tail structures, control surfaces serve multiple roles, primarily for attitude control. The outer surfaces function as elevons—acting as elevators when moved symmetrically and as ailerons when moved asymmetrically. The center and inner surfaces, originally intended to operate similarly, appear to have been restricted to downward movement to facilitate nose-down control.
Deceleration systems include air brakes and a drag chute mounted on the underside of the rear fuselage. Drag rudders, installed on both upper and lower wing surfaces, serve the yaw control function of traditional rudders. When deployed, they generate asymmetric drag, slowing the corresponding wing and enabling directional control. These features exemplify the ingenuity embedded in the aircraft’s boomerang-like design.
Aircraft Comparison: Ho 229 vs. Ho 229 B
Airframe
The original SWS kit “Ho 229” is based on the unfinished prototype “Ho IX V3”, reconstructed as a hypothetical operational single-seat fighter-bomber, assuming it had entered combat. In contrast, the new “Ho 229 B” represents a two-seat night fighter model—one of the more practical designs among the proposed models.
Engine Cowling
Both models use the same Jumo 004 axial-flow turbojet engines, but their cowlings differ due to changes in nose design. The Ho 229 features a smoothly contoured cowling that blends into the upper fuselage and extends toward the front intake. In contrast, the Ho 229 B has a shorter, more sharply defined cowling, tapering forward and ending near the center of the upper fuselage.
Cockpit
The Ho 229 featured a prototype-style cockpit framed with pipes and metal panels, exposing the pilot to intense noise and vibration from the adjacent Jumo 004 engines. The nose gear was directly connected to the fuselage frame, leaving the pilot’s footwell open to the ground and subject to significant landing impact.
In contrast, the Ho 229 B adopted a tandem-seat layout, similar to modern combat aircraft, to accommodate night-fighting equipment, radar systems, and improved crew protection. The cockpit evolved into a bathtub-style enclosure with internal walls, reportedly planned to include armor plating on the bottom and sides. The nose gear was mounted to the reinforced cockpit floor, enhancing both structural integrity and pilot safety.
Airframe Shape
Both aircraft share the distinctive boomerang-like silhouette characteristic of flying wings. However, when compared side by side, the Ho 229 appears more compact due to its shorter nose, closely resembling a true boomerang. In contrast, the Ho 229 B features an elongated, sharply contoured nose to accommodate the tandem cockpit, resulting in a more pointed profile. This modification also extends the engine intakes forward. Combined with the nose-mounted antenna, the Ho 229 B presents a more unconventional and striking appearance.
Nose Antenna
A defining feature of the two-seat Ho 229 B is the nose-mounted radar antenna, which is not on the single-seat Ho 229. The Ho 229 B is equipped with the FuG 220 Lichtenstein radar antenna, used on the He 219, for night-time target acquisition. The SWS kit faithfully reproduces this delicate and distinctive component with precise angles and durability.
Armament
The daytime fighter Ho 229 was equipped with two Rheinmetall 30mm MK 103 cannons. The night fighter Ho 229 B added four more Rheinmetall 30mm MK 108 cannons, totaling six. Capable of downing U.S. bombers like the B-17 or B-24 with just four hits, this configuration represented formidable firepower for its time. The SWS faithfully recreates this hypothetical, heavily armed night fighter.
Markings
The Ho 229 B features two camouflage schemes typical of night fighters with two distinctive tail markings. These designs are based on the premise that, if the aircraft had been deployed operationally. Please enjoy your preferred color schemed and marking combinations.

The Homeland Defense's last weapon!
May 1942. In order to intercept the strategic bombers coming from the enemy, the German Air Ministry required for the near future a ""special high-altitude fighter"" which specifications should be a pressurized cockpit and the capability to fly over 13,000m.
As a response to this request, the Focke-Wulf Company developed as an improved model of the already fighting masterpiece Fw 190 the ultimate jet-fighter, proud to fly over 10,000m at a high speed of 750km/h, and equipped with a liquid-cooled engine back and forth, a long fuselage and long, as wide, wings. The first prototype came out in August 1943. During the last days of the Great War, the ""Ta 152"", ultimate reciprocating jet fighter demanded for the Homeland Defense, was finally born.

The production of reciprocating fighters was stopped as war conditions continue going bad to worse, as well as the fuel reserves. Anyway the sole production allowed was the Ta 152 equipped with the Jumo 213 E that used B4 fuel since it was relatively easier to produce. It shows how the last hope of those days was entrusted with this machine. And here born the "H-0", the first mass production type with its fuel tank installed on the fuselage only instead on its wings. At first, the plane went without both, the GM1and MW50 output enhancer equipment. Its main feature is the big differences with the ""H-1"", like the internal structure as well as the position of the oil inlet and the inspection port. That differences have been reproduced in details with our SWS kit thanks to an intensive investigation of the documents about the real machine. The selected nose and propellers' shapes are the true value of SWS!
The liquid-cooled engine equipped Ta 152 has an extended nose to reach higher altitudes, which gives the airplane a very special outline. That shape has been thoroughly reproduced with our SWS kit, based on the information gathering on the real machine. The line of the nose upper surface going from the window shield to the engine cowling is stronger, while the louver and the breather-our of the crank case are also reproduced in their smallest details. Also, the wide wood-enforced Junkers VS9 propellers adopted a gear shaped oil motor serving as a power source to change the angles of the propeller pitches. They are made of 3 blades of 3.6m diameter each and rotating at a constant speed. Please fully enjoy the structure of the plane as well as the propellers' shape, ""soul"" of reciprocating planes, which have always been a main part of SWS.
Not only high-altitude performances, but also more firepower. That's the ""Jumo 213 E"" engine!
Junkers Jumo 213 E engine is a liquid-cooled V-shaped 12 cylinders SOHC engine, adopting a direct injection fuel-system without carburetor. The motor cannons could not be equipped on the 213 A installed on the Fw 190 D-9 because of a fuel conduction passing through the whole axis section in order to change the angles of the propeller pitches, but the fuel conduction has been redesigned in this 213 E engine allowing the installation of motor cannons, which is reproduced in the kit. As for the supercharger, it is a double level - three speed with air cooler placed just behind in order to cool down the pressurized air. Then, the structure of the shrouds located inside the circular radiators, and the pipes - preferred to MG 151 machine guns initially planned to be installed on the upper surface of the nose - conducting the fresh and compressed air to the cockpit, are easy to understand with this SWS kit.
Pilot life-support equipment in high altitudes!
The Ta 152 H-series has a pressurized cockpit, where high pressure starts running from an altitude of 8,000m and air is secured with a maximum pressure differential of 0.23 from 14,000m. The pressurized cockpit of the Ta 152 H series has a rough external panel covered with a steel frame, while an interior air pressure adjustment and airtightness are meant to keep the pilot safe. Literally life-supporting. Furthermore, this SWS kit represents the thickness of the bullet proof glass of the window shield equipped with a 70mm electric pressure heater on the front, and also the details of the fuel spout pipe for cleaning inside the triangular side structure. This and more is the core of what you can experience by building an SWS kit.
The long, big and beautiful wings, as well as the strong landing gears make up the charm of this high-altitude jet-fighter!
With the H-0, the fuel tanks were inserted only in the fuselage, while with the H-1 two fuel tanks and a 70L capacity water tank have been eventually installed on the inside of the left wing, and three fuel tanks have been placed on the inside of the right wing. You may see at a glance to the panel lines of the main wing surfaces, the differences with the H-1. Since the positions of the oil-pressurized cylinders are different between the two planes, the position of the torque arm-link of the aileron steerage mechanism is also different. Thanks to the SWS techniques reproducing rationally the inner and outer structure differences of both planes, these wings can be considered as the highlight of the Ta 152, along with the robust landing gears able to absorb the shock when landing from high-altitudes.
