The McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom is a long-range, twin-engine, two-seater multi-role fighter designed for operations in difficult weather conditions. The flight of the prototype took place on May 27, 1958, and serial production began in 1961. Originally, the F-4 was intended only as a stormtrooper, but from 1955 on, the design work went towards meeting the US Navy's need for a new on-board fighter. The F-4 Phantom turned out to be a very successful machine, produced in several versions, exported to many countries and produced under license. The first versions are models from A to D intended for fighter-bombers. The next version is the F-4E, produced since 1967 as a long-range fighter. Reconnaissance versions were also created: RF-4B, RF-4C and RF-4E. The latest versions are the F-4F and F-4G Wild Weassel - these are electronic warfare planes and designed to fight the enemy radars. The F-4 took part in the Vietnam War, the conflicts in the Middle East (1967, 1973) and the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988). In total, 5,057 F-4 Phantom aircraft were built. The Boeing AH-64 Apacheis an American twin-turboshaft attack helicopter with a tailwheel-type landing gear and a tandem cockpit for a crew of two. Nose-mounted sensors help acquire targets and provide night vision. It carries a 30 mm (1.18 in) M230 chain gun under its forward fuselage and four hardpoints on stub-wing pylons for armament and stores, typically AGM-114 Hellfire missiles and Hydra 70 rocket pods. Redundant systems help it survive combat damage.
The Apache began as the Model 77 developed by Hughes Helicopters for the United States Army's Advanced Attack Helicopter program to replace the AH-1 Cobra. The prototype YAH-64 first flew on 30 September 1975. The U.S. Army selected the YAH-64 over the Bell YAH-63 in 1976, and later approved full production in 1982. After acquiring Hughes Helicopters in 1984, McDonnell Douglas continued AH-64 production and development. The helicopter was introduced to U.S. Army service in April 1986. The advanced AH-64D Apache Longbow was delivered to the Army in March 1997. Production has been continued by Boeing Defense, Space & Security. As of March 2024, over 5,000 Apaches have been delivered to the U.S. Army and 18 international partners and allies.

The McDonnell-Douglas / Northrop F / A-18 Hornet is a carrier-based combat and attack aircraft capable of operating in all weather conditions. The roots of the F / A-18 go back to 1974 and the prototype of the F-17, which was of interest to the US Navy command that year. The contract for the serial construction of the aircraft was concluded in 1976. In order to speed up the work, Northrop entered into cooperation with McDonnell-Douglas. As a result, on November 18, 1978, the test flight of the prototype took place, and a year later - successful landings on the aircraft carrier. Since 1982, the aircraft has been delivered to linear units with General Electric F404-GE-402 engines as the propulsion unit. The aircraft is produced in several versions. They are characterized by an increased length of the fuselage, wingspan and their area. They also have new General Electric F414 engines and significantly expanded and modernized avionics. They were first presented in 1995. The EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft was also created on the basis of the F-18. All versions of the F/A-18 met with the favor of pilots, are characterized by a low failure rate, ease of operation and very good flight parameters. Hornets took part in the operation against Libya in 1986 and Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Entering service with the US Military in 1960, the F-4 Phantom II began as a fleet defense fighter for the USN. In 1963, the aircraft was adopted as the USAF’s lead fighter bomber. It was a Cold War icon with its large size, breaking fifteen world records, holding onto five of those records into 1975. The McDonnell-Douglas (Boeing) AH-64 helicopter was selected as the winner in the competition with Bell's YAH-63 in December 1976. The name Apache stuck to the helicopter in 1981. This highly efficient machine has four-blade rotors driven by two General Electric T700-701 turbine engines with a capacity of 1696HP. The vestigial wings are fitted with conventional trailing edge flaps, and a plate tail improves longitudinal steering. The two-man crew takes seats one after the other in the armored cabin. The pilot's seat is in the rear, and the weapon operator / gunner is in the front. The key to the universal use of the helicopter are the TADS systems on the gunner's stand and the PNVS systems used by the pilot. The TADS is a target-tracking laser marker and rangefinder set and a forward-facing infrared sensor that is duplicated by the normal optics. The PNVS system is a developed FLIR system that allows you to pilot a helicopter just above the ground in order to prevent or delay detection by the enemy's anti-aircraft defense. Apache helicopters took part in the operation in Panama in 1989, during the Desert Storm in 1991, or the last conflict in Iraq (2003). At the end of 1990, the construction of a new version of the helicopter began, equipped with a Martin / Westinghouse Longbow millimeter radar installed above the head to control the weapons. It is used to control the Rockwell AGM-114 Hellfire anti-tank missiles. The Mitsubishi Ki-67 Type 4 Heavy Bomber, known to the Allies by the codename “Peggy,” was one of the most advanced Japanese twin-engine bombers of World War II. Introduced in 1944, the Ki-67 was designed for both strategic and tactical bombing, with performance that outclassed many earlier Japanese bombers. It was fast, relatively well-armored, and had self-sealing fuel tanks—features uncommon in most Japanese aircraft of the time. The Ki-67 could carry bombs or torpedoes, making it suitable for both land and naval missions, and it also saw use in kamikaze operations near the end of the war.
Hasegawa first released their 1/72 scale Ki-67 Type 4 “Hiryu” kit in 1999, and it remains as the only kit in 1/72 scale of this aircraft, accurate and well-regarded model. The F-35 was the most eye-catching new fighter jet over the past ten years. With the unmatched R&D capability of the Skunk Works, the American Lockheed Martin Corporation has undertaken the R&D and production of the United States’ fourth-generation fighters. After winning the U.S. Air Force Advanced Tactical Fighter Program (ATF) in the 1990s, Lockheed Martin has developed and produced the F-22. Is there any aircraft as unorthodox and unconventional in appearance as the Dornier Do 335?
Of course there was, but the Do 335 was to be a mass-produced fighter-bomber aircraft that would have entered regular service. What made this aircraft an interesting proposition was its configuration. This was indeed a two-engine design, but centred around an unusual push-pull design. That in itself might make the aircraft sound like a non-starter, but the Do 335 was arguably one of, or THE fastest piston-engine aircraft that ever saw service, as the design eliminated the traditional parasitic drag element that was typical for a standard two-engine design layout. It was also very versatile. Conceived from the outset as a multirole machine, this adaptable design could be used as a straight fighter aircraft, and also as a night-fighter. Bombs could also be carried in an internal bay, and if you required a heavy fighter, then this was possible by mounting two MK103 cannon in two wing-mounted pods that protruded from the wing leading edge (HK Models kit #01E07).
The Do 335 was also a robust and highly manoeuvrable machine, and one that could actually cope with a rear engine failure. It was also one of the few aircraft of the time that was fitted with an ejection seat. Should this need to be used, the canopy, rear pro- peller and upper tail fin would be blasted away by the use of explosive bolts, preventing the pilot from striking them on his way out. Another unusual feature of this aircraft was the cruciform tail layout. A downward pointing fin was included, which would hopefully negate any possible rear propeller damage that could result from an awkward landing. First flown in 1943, the project wasn’t without its problems. Whilst the aircraft was in- herently stable on both ground and in the air, due to the rear engine resting behind the centre of gravity, it did suffer from some technical issues that were never overcome, such as a weak undercarriage. Despite the great hopes that the Germans had for the Do 335, like many of their wonder designs, it simply came too late to make any difference, with only 37 being built by the war’s end. Allies evaluation of this Do 335 ‘Pfeil’ showed that it was an excellent performer and could have been a serious opponent, had it not been for Germany’s lack of production capability and onerous bureaucratic and person- al in-fighting. The subjects of this kit release are the proposed B-6 night fighter variant, and the M17 night fighter prototype that had been completed under the French custody after the end of World War II.

The legendary U.S. Air Force P-51D Mustang originally used a Hamilton Standard propeller, but shortages forced the U.S. to fit some models with an Aeroproducts propeller. They were renamed the P-51K and mainly assigned to the Asian Theater. The P-51K and P-51D possessed both speed and the ability to fly long-range missions, and could serve as bomber escorts or attack enemy ground installations themselves. In 1948, the US Department of Defense placed an order with Boeing to develop a new strategic bomber with a lifting capacity and range exceeding all existing ones, capable of attacking targets anywhere on the globe. The result of this order was the design of the XB-52 aircraft with 20 ° slant wings, equipped with 6 turboprop engines. A Unique Aircraft
The Corsair was originally developed by the American company Vought in response to a February 1938 request for proposal for a carrier fighter aircraft by the U.S. Navy. Designed to surpass even land-based fighters, it featured a 2,000hp engine and massive 4-meter propeller and - most memorably - a unique inverted gull wing. This first version of the Corsair (which means "pirate") was given the nickname "birdcage" due to the large frame sections used in the canopy structure. Thrown into front line action from February 1943 onwards, the aircraft took part in the U.S. military's counter-offensive which was based in the Solomon Islands; it was mainly used by the U.S. Marine Corps and used an advantage in speed and armor over the Japanese Zero fighter to prove a valuable weapon in the arsenal of the U.S. military.

Drawn up as a high speed, unarmed bomber, the twin engine De Havilland Mosquito fulfilled that role and so many more for the RAF and other Allied air forces during WWII, taking advantage of performance so astonishing it earned the aircraft its nickname: Wooden Wonder. With a highly complex P&W R-2800 engine generating 2,000hp, a 4-meter propeller and striking gull wings, the Corsair was certainly a memorable aircraft; it was effective, too, and was one of the mainstays of the U.S. Navy. The F4U-1A variant was assigned to units from Summer 1943, and featured upgrades such as a semi-bubble canopy (to improve previously limited visibility), plus the ability to carry bombs of up to 1,000lb. It saw a large amount of action in fighting with the Japanese Navy around the Solomon Islands; the Corsair continued to serve through the Korean War in the guise of further variants, the bomber capability pioneered by the F4U-1A proving a most effective addition to the aircraft's inherent ability.

Starting from the great success of the C.R. 32 “Freccia” biplane, which proved its reliability and operational efficiency during the Spanish Civil War, Fiat developed the new C.R. 42 “Falco” at the end of the 1930s. The new single-seat biplane fighter retained the fixed landing gear and open cockpit of its predecessor but introduced several innovations, such as an entirely aluminum and steel structure covered with metal and fabric. Its air-cooled radial engine, the Fiat A.74, allowed the C.R. 42 to reach a top speed of 400 km/h. The aircraft was characterized by exceptional maneuverability, highly appreciated by pilots, but suffered from the inherent limitations of the biplane configuration, which hindered its operational performance compared to more modern and powerful monoplane fighters.
