The JAS-39 is the new Swedish multi-role fighter presently being delivered to the Air Force. It is under serious consideration by former East-bloc countries, South American countries and others. The Spitfire is certainly the most famous and best known fighter aircraft of World War II. Winning many dogfights of this conflict, the plane was first developed in the 1930s. It underwent a continuous evolution and improvement of its aerodynamic features as well as its engine and armament made it last with numerous air forces until after the appearance of the first jets. The Lockheed AC-130 Spectre is an armed tactical support version of the C-130 Hercules. The AC-130 initially replaced AC-47 and AC-119 in the supporting role during the war in Vietnam. USAF used the AC-130 for close support, area interdiction and force protection. Close air support roles include supporting ground troops, escorting convoys, and flying urban operations. Air interdiction missions are conducted against planned targets and targets of opportunity, whereas force protection missions include defending air bases and other facilities. The AC-130 Gunship arrived in South Vietnam on 21 September 1967 and began combat operations that same year. After the conflict in Vietnam, the U.S. Air Force designed a new range of these aircrafts basing on the C-130 H version, equipped with far more powerful engines, with four-blade propellers and upgraded versions of the navigation and night vision. The AC-130H called “Spectre” were used in all the conflicts involving the U.S. Force of the last decade and, after further upgrades, they are still used in the conflict in Afghanistan.

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was one of the best aircraft produced during World War II. Manufactured in more than 20,000 units starting from 1941, it was, alongside the Messerschmitt Bf 109, the most renowned fighter aircraft of the Luftwaffe. In its early versions, such as the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8, the fighter was equipped with a BMW 801 D-2 double-row radial engine with 14 cylinders, delivering 1,700 horsepower, enabling it to reach a top speed of 653 km/h. Over time, designers capitalized on the successful aerodynamic structure of the aircraft, achieving what can be considered its ultimate evolution. The adoption of the powerful liquid-cooled Junkers Jumo 213 12-cylinder engine necessitated a revision of the aircraft's design, resulting in an elongated nose. The D version was aptly nicknamed by Luftwaffe pilots as "Langnasen-Dora" (Long-nose Dora), but once in flight, they immediately appreciated its characteristics and capabilities. The FW-190D was indeed capable of competing on equal terms with the most modern Allied fighters, such as the renowned P-51D Mustang. The Rafale is a fourth generation fighter aircraft manufactured by Dassault Aviation for French Air Force. Featuring a large delta wing and canard wing, and two powerful engines mounted in the tail section and a single, large rudder. It is designed to be used by the Air Force, where it replaced the Mirage F1 and 2000 and the naval aviation were replaced the Etandard F-8 Crusader. The French Navy Rafale M were extensively used in the operations conducted on Libya in the first half of 2012 alongside the variants used by air force. The kit allows you to make a flight deck section of a modern aircraft carrier. The Black Hawk is the U.S. Army’s front-line utility helicopter used for air assault, air cavalry and aeromedicals evacuation units. It is designed to carry 11 combat-loaded air assault troops and it is capable of moving a 105 mm. Howitzer and 30 rounds of ammunition. First deployed in 1978, the Black Hawk’s advanced technology makes it easy to maintain in the field. The Black Hawk has performed admirably in a variety of missions, including air assault, air cavalry and aeromedicals evacuations, including Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq. In addition, modified Black Hawks operate as special operations platforms.

The result of the project is the "Typhoon" that is one of the best air superiority fighter in the world. Its aerodynamic design is characterized by the canard-delta wing. Thanks to its two Eurojet EJ200 turbofan engines the Typhoon is able to reach a maximum speed of Mach 2. The on board technology, enhanced by the fly-by-wire control system, allows to obtain a great maneuverability in air combat duties. Produced by the Italian company C.R.D.A. (Cantieri Riuniti dell'Adriatico), the CANT Z 506 Airone (Heron) was a triple-engine, low-wing floatplane characterized by an extraordinary reliability and robustness. It entered in service in the second half of the ‘30s. Despite the fuselage and the wings based on wooden structures, the Airone was able to operate in very bad weather conditions. It was used by Italian Regia Aeronautica as bomber and long range maritime reconnaissance aircraft. It was also used to perform search and rescue duties on the sea. The good flying performance are proved by the extraordinary longevity. Some “506” examples survived in post-war service until 1960 and they have been used as S.A.R. planes by Italian Air Force. The A-10 Thunderbolt II was developed by Fairchild Republic in the seventies with the purpose to create, accordingly the needs of USAF, a powerful aircraft capable to perform close air support missions including attacking tanks and armoured vehicles. The Thunderbolt II is heavily armoured and exceptionally tough. It is characterised by the two General Electric turbofan engines and the adoption of one of the most powerful aircraft gun ever flown : the 30 mm. GAU-8/A Avenger Gatling. Thanks to its eleven underwing and under fuselage pillars, the A-10 can carry an impressive offensive pay-load. The A-10 was used in combat for the first time during the Gulf War in 1991 and it has showed its operational effectiveness destroying more than 900 enemy tanks. The Mikoyan MiG-29 Fulcrum is a twin-engine supersonic air-superiority fighter designed during the’70s to counter new American planes, such as McDonnell Douglas F-15. It entered in service in the Soviet Union Air Force in the early 80s. Thanks to its two Klimov RD-33 afterburning turbofan engines, the Fulcrum is able to reach the maximum speed of Mach 2,2. It is characterized by a very elegant and harmonious aerodynamic profile with a flat and wide fuselage and two vertical tail fins. The Mig 29 is armed with a 30 mm. gun in the port wing root and it can adopt a wide variety of air-to-air missiles ad the AA-8 “Aphid”, the AA-10 “Alamo” and the AA-11 “Archer”. It is widely used by the Russian Air Force and by the most part of Easter European Countries Air Forces. Among the others it has been adopted by the Indian Air Force. The B-52 Stratofortress is the most famous long range jet-powered strategic bomber in the aviation history. Produced by the American company Boeing since 1955 it has been, for a long time, a symbol of the Cold War. It has been, for several years, the backbone of the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command. The B-52 has been produced in a significant number of versions that has gradually evolved the successful project to better answer to the changing in operational needs. The “G” version is the most produced B-52 variant and it has been delivered to the S.A.C. wings from the early 60s. It has been characterized by a large number of changes implemented as a more strong structure, the adoption of new avionic systems and, important issue for a strategic bomber, the longer operational range thanks to the increased fuel capacity and the possibility to adopt external fuel tanks. The multirole combat aircraft Sukhoi Su-34, NATO code name "Fullback", is a Russian twin-engine, twin-seat able to perform strike, interdiction, ground and naval attack duties. It has been developed, on the reliable design of the fighter Sukhoi Su-27 “Flanker”, to replace the swing-wing Sukhoi Su-24 “Fencer”. The Su-34 is characterized by the large cabin where the two crew members, the pilot and the navigator/operator of weapons, sit side by side. Thanks to its two powerful Ljul’ka turbofans, the “Fullback” is able to reach the max speed of 2.000 Km/h. It can operate in adverse weather conditions and in very severe environments. It is armed with a 30 mm gun and thanks to its 12 hard points can carry an impressive variety of air-to-surface weapons and air-to-air missiles. The Russian company Sukhoi has also developed a dedicated version for export named Sukhoi Su-32 FN (Fighter Naval). Three specimens were tested by Indian Air Force in 2015. The Dassault Mirage 2000C is a single-seat air superiority fighter and it has been a reference point for the French aircraft production. Entered in service in the first part of 80’s, it maintained the typical “delta wing” aerodynamic design but, compared to the previous generation French fighters, the Mirage 2000 has adopted significant technical improvements. Thanks to its SNECMA afterburning turbofan engine, it is able to reach the speed of Mach 2.2. It has a great maneuverability and it can carry a various set of offensive weapons. The Mirage 2000C is often considered the first new generation fighter, produced in Europe, to be entered in operational service. The multirole Tornado is a twin-engine combat aircraft with a variable-sweep wing. This kind of aircraft is the result of a joint development project carried out by British, German and Italian companies. Although during its lifetime it has been used for several purposes (ground attack, electronic combat/reconnaissance, interceptor), its main role has always been to perform low-altitude penetrating strike missions. The A-6 Intruder entered service in the mid-60s as ground attack carrier based aircraft to replace the outdated planes as the propeller-driven A-1 Skyraider and the A-3 Skywarrior. The Grumman Corporation developed and designed the A-6A, based on U.S. Navy specifications, a twin jet-engine all-weather medium attack aircraft able to operate from the American aircraft carriers. The so called “Intruder” was characterized by a sturdy and robust fuselage and for the two seats side by side cabin configuration for the pilot and the weapons officer. The A-6E was the definitive attack version of the "Intruder" improved in avionics and attack systems, in particular in the version named TRAM, from the acronym of the laser target designation system, that allowed to be more effective to perform “all weather” missions and to be more lethal in detection and suppression of enemy targets. Thanks to its hardpoints under the wing the A-6E Intruder was able to load an impressive offensive armament as conventional bombs, Paveway laserg-guided bombs, Harpoon anti-ship missiles, HARM anti-radar missiles. The Super Sabre was one of the first supersonic airplanes to enter service with the U.S. Air Force during the fifties. Together with the single-seat version a double-seat version was developed to facilitate the transition and training of pilots of this new aircraft. The F-version was characterized for its extended fuselage to accomodate the second cockpit but had the same basic features as the single seater. During its life span the plane was extensively used in the Vietnam war during the sixties. The twin-seater was used as attack fighter against the North Vietnamese anti-aircraft missiles positions.
