The KC-135 is an aerial refueling tanker of the US Air Force that began operation in 1957 and is still in active service today after numerous modifications. Developed by Boeing, the total number of aircraft produced, including all types, exceeds 800. From the late 1970s, a modernization program was implemented, and updates were carried out, including engine replacement. Among these, the KC-135R is a type based on the KC-135A, with the engine replaced with a CFM56 turbofan engine, F108-CF-100, increased fuel capacity, and an auxiliary power unit (APU) added. Deployment began in 1984. A key feature is that the APU allows for engine starting and other operations even in locations without ground support facilities, expanding the range of operations.
This is a plastic model assembly kit that reproduces the KC-135 Stratotanker, an aerial refueling tanker operated by the US military. Specifically, it models the KC-135R/FR type. At 1/72 scale, it is a large model with a finished length of 580mm.
