$93.95
Norton Motors Ltd was founded in 1898 by James Lansdowne Norton, but it is from 1907, after Rem Fowler won on the Isle of Man TT racetrack, that the sporting tradition of this iconic British brand begins. Between 1930 and 1937 Norton won 78 of the 92 Grand Prix races. After World War II, expressly created for the competition from which takes its name (Isle of Man TT), the Norton Manx was born. In order to adapt it to the racetrack, it is the first one to opt for a double cradle frame (Featherbed), which, between 1947 and 1954, collects a long line of successes. The legendary single-cylinder Manx 500 was ridden to victory in the Isle of Man TT by the intrepid Geoff Duke, who was awarded for the World Championship in 1950 and 1951.

This U.S. Navy aircraft was one of the most famous and reliable air-planes of World War II. It replaced its predecessor, the standard Navy fighter Wildcat, which did not match the Japanese fighter Zero. The Hellcat, first introduced in 1943 was a highly manoeuvrable aircraft despite its extensive dimensions. The robust fuselage of this carrier-borne plane was able to absorb substantial damage. Hellcats were also utilized by the British Navy and after World War II, during the fifties, by the French Forces in Indochina.

The Saab JAS 39 Gripen entered service in the second half of the 1990s, representing a significant advancement over its predecessors, such as the long-serving Saab 37 Viggen. The Swedish air superiority and multirole fighter was soon developed in a two-seat version to meet the demands of advanced pilot training. This variant retained essentially the same high performance as the single-seat fighter, while offering greater operational flexibility, enabling it to carry out reconnaissance and ground-attack missions. The aircraft’s innovative aerodynamic design, providing excellent maneuverability, combined with strong flight performance, a maximum speed of Mach 2.0, and the capability to carry a diverse and flexible offensive payload, also contributed to its commercial success outside Sweden.

$18.95
The Macchi MC.205 is a development of the previous MC.202 Folgore, undoubtedly the best fighter plane used by the Italian Air Force during the 2nd World War. This aircraft, with a more powerful engine, offered excellent handling and good speed, although it had limited armament which, however, was increased during production with the addition of two 20 MM cannons. But the limits of Italian industry prevented production from reaching the necessary level for the war action requirements of these aeroplanes, and the quantity of machines delivered to the squadrons was insufficient to influence the overwhelming air-power of the Allies.

The British Aerospace Sea Harrier was a VTOL / STOVL (Short take-off and vertical landing) capable fighter, developed to equip the air arm sections of the British Royal Navy. It entered into service during the late ‘70s and early ‘80s with the main operational role of fleet air defence aircraft. In 1982 it was deployed on HMS Invincible and HMS Hermes during the Falklands war, fully demonstrating its operational effectiveness during the conflict. Unable to match the speed and flight characteristics of opposing aircraft such as the Mirage 111, it was nevertheless extremely manoeuvrable and reliable in all operating conditions. The Sea Harrier was equipped with an effective offensive armament capability, consisting of two 30mm ADEN guns installed in pods under the fuselage and by 4 sub-wing hardpoints to launch air-to-air missiles.

$78.95
While it maintains the familiar lines of the Hercules, a common sight in the worlds skies for decades now, the C-130J has been extensively re-designed. The most visible change lies in the use of two 4700 HP Rolls-Royce (Allison) AE2100D3 engines, with six-blade composite-material propellers that ensure silent running and low fuel consumption. High performance features include an excellent rate of climb and an extended range of action thanks to the new engines. An equally important development is the avionics: the cockpit, in fact, is equipped with new digital instruments and a Head-Up Display that provides the pilot with a constant stream of data without him having to look away from the cockpit window. The C-130J is steadily becoming the standard transport aircraft in many NATO countries, Italy included.

The A-26 Invader, a twin-engine attack aircraft designed and manufactured by the American company Douglas, exhibited extraordinary operational longevity. The first units reached the front lines during World War II in 1944, and later variants participated in all major conflicts of the 1950s and 1960s, such as the Korean and Indochina wars, and even the Vietnam War. The most widely produced version was the "B" model, distinguished by its heavy armament. The closed nose section housed between 6 and 8 Browning M2 .50 caliber (12.7 mm) machine guns, significantly enhancing its firepower. Due to the Invader's robust structural design, the nose could also be fitted with 20 mm or 37 mm cannons, as well as a 75 mm howitzer. Powered by two reliable Pratt & Whitney R-2800 “Double Wasp” radial engines, each producing 2,000 horsepower, the Invader could achieve a top speed of 570 km/h even at full operational load.

$ PRICE IN PROGRESS!
The KC-135 was designed by Boeing starting with the Model 367-80; this prototype was also the basis for the 707 civil airliner, as well as the 717 (a bit smaller), which was adopted by the USAF as their C-135. The aircraft proved to be very versatile and was adapted to many specialised uses. Its most important role, however, was as the KC-135 refuelling tanker. Eight different versions were manufactured, some with added capacities, for a total of 700 aircraft. They were continuously up-dated, not so much with equipment, but with different engines, going from the original J57 jet engines to the TF-33 and finally the CFM-56. The first KC-135s were pressed into service in 1957, and their baptism of fire took place just a few years later in Vietnam. Even though several were sold to the French, to Singapore and Turkey, it was the USAF which used them the most. Several hundred are still in service today.

$78.95
In the Cold War era the dream of every strategist was to own a bomber with the load capacity and autonomy of the B-52 able to fly faster than the B-58 and so the B-70 programme came into being. After years on the drawing board, and cutthroat competition between Boeing and North American Aviation, the latter’s design won the heated competition in December 1957, with an order for the first 30 aircraft to be in service by 1965. In 1959, however, it became clear that the still untested B-70 would not survive the new aerial combat scene technology and the programme was cut back to a minimum. Two prototypes were finally constructed, the first of which took to the air in September 1964, and the XB-70 Valkyries showed themselves able to fly at speeds exceeding Mach 3. Today they are considered by many scholars and airplane buffs to be the most beautiful aircraft ever constructed.

The JU-87 Stuka was the standard ground attack plane and dive bomber of the German Air Force at the beginning of WWII. In spite of its mediocre characteristics it achieved considerable fame through the psychological impact it had on the population and on the enemy forces. Never before has such massive employment of aircraft been experienced. The success of the Stukas during the first phase of the war was due to total air supremacy guaranteed by the Luftwaffe fighters which permitted the Stukas to operate without being disturbed by enemy aircraft. During the battle of Britain the myth of the JU-87 was re-dimensioned due to the supremacy of British fighter aircraft. Nevertheless the Stukas operated until the end of the war from the African theater to Russia.

The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is one of the most famous fighters in the history of aviation and also one with the longest operational life: its history began at the end of the 50s and ended, for some air forces, in mid 2000s. Its unique airframe, with slender fuselage and very little wing surface, made this aircraft ideal as an interceptor. Thanks to the thrust of its General Electric J79-GE-11A afterburning turbojet engine, it could exceed Mach 2,2 with an excellent rate of climb. But it wasn't very maneuverable and difficult to pilot.The F-104G Starfighter was produced on license by several European aviation industries. From the mid 60s, it became the standard interceptor for many NATO countries including Italy, Germany, Holland, Greece, and Turkey. The armament was basically the same found on previous versions, with a 20mm Vulcan cannon and the option to fit under the wings air-to-air missiles, bombs, or additional fuel tanks to increase the airplane's range.With time, reconnaissance duties were added to the traditional interceptor service. The F-104G was therefore fitted with a dedicated “Orpheus” reconnaissance external pod that gave excellent operational results.
