Tamiya 78019 1/350 Japanese... $81.95
The World's Largest "Submarine Carrier" The I-400 was a submarine the likes of which the world had never seen before. At the time of their completion, the I-400 and her sister ships were the largest, and arguably the most advanced submarines in the world. With a 122m length, 12m width, and 6,560 ton displacement, their size rivalled that of destroyers of the time and their amazing endurance could allow them to traverse the globe one and a half times. Loaded with 3 Seiran bombers, the planned attack on the Panama Canal was only moments away from reality. Diverted to attack the gathering Allied invasion fleet at Ulithi, the war ended before the submarines could launch their strike. However, the I-400 class submarines' technological advances were recognized and it can be said that they helped influence the development of nuclear ballistic submarines after the war. Features 1/350 scale assembly kit model. Length: 348.5mm Hull comprised of upper and lower sections for ease of assembly. Hangar features realistic interior details and can store 3 Seiran aircraft. Parts included for 2 Seiran aircraft with wings extended, which can be posed on the catapult or on the included display stand. Large set of precision-made photo-etched parts included for the ultimate finish. Features such as the crane and antennae can be posed in extended or retracted positions. Hook 'em up, Tow 'em out! It was a clash that would shape the future of Europe and the rest of the world for years to come. The Allied Liberation of Europe began on the June 6th, 1944, on the beaches of Normandy, and lasted until Germany's surrender on May 9th, 1945. The Sherman tanks of the US Army began their steady advance into the European mainland, wrenching Europe piece-by-piece from the clutches of Germany. However, the massive tanks of the Wehrmacht such as Tiger and Panther would prove overpowering against the agile, yet considerably smaller Shermans. One of the major factors that allowed the Allies' advance to continue despite this disparity in power was the quick recovery and repair of battle damaged tanks. That is where the M26 Armored Tank Recovery Vehicles and their brave crews came in. The M26 first saw action on the Italian Front of 1943, and was later broadly used in the inland advancement of the Allies following the Invasion at Normandy. In all kinds of weather, in the middle of the night, or under a barrage of enemy fire, the repair crews continually fulfilled their duty to recover and repair damaged tanks. Features Tamiya is proud to release the M26 Armored Tank Recovery Vehicle as a 1/35 scale assembly model kit. Overall length: 225mm, overall width: 106mm. Weighty feel of full sized vehicle very apparent in 1/35 model. Slide molding techniques used to recreated the cabin as one highly detailed piece. Window armor can be modeled in the open or closed position. Tandem winch and crane overflow with realism. Vice, welding equipment and other accessory parts recreated in outstanding detail. The "A-arm" rear support can be assembled in one of five angles. Kit features abundant use of metal parts such as photo etched parts, pipes, and chains. Chrome plated and transparent parts used for various lights. Rubber tires with real tread pattern. Six types of decals are included, as are four figures (two types) for the cabin and two standing figures.

The Unique Match-Up During the WWII, the Finnish Army utilized captured Soviet tanks as their significant armament. Among these was the BT-42 assault gun which the Finnish Army created by pairing the hull from a captured Russian BT-7 Model 1937 light tank with a British 114mm howitzer and a redesigned BT-7's large boxy turret. 18 units were produced from 1943 to 1944 and they were deployed to the Svir River region to attack the Russian bastion. Tamiya 35252 1/35 German Ki... $58.95
Tamiya presents a 1/35 scale model of the King Tiger as it appeared during the final German offensive on the Ardennes Front. Also included in the kit is the DKW NZ350 military motorcycle. The thick armor and powerful 88mm gun of the King Tiger's Henschel turret struck fear in the hearts of all Allied troops that had the displeasure of facing this beast of a tank. In true Tamiya style, the King Tiger's fearsome image is captured in this model. Overflowing with detail, the kit features two different types of gun mantles (model can be assembled with stepped and sloped mantle), as well as parts for the accurate replication of the DKW NZ350's engine. Small headlight and other features seen on the motorcycle during the final stages of World War II are reproduced. Great for making the perfect Ardennes diorama. Tank commander, tank crewman and orderly figures (3 figures in all) have also been included in this kit. The German King Tiger (Ardennes Front) Development of the massive King Tiger began in February 1943 to counter the increasing threat of Russian Tanks. A more powerful cannon was added, upgrading from the L56, 88mm of the Tiger I to the Type 43 L71, 88mm high velocity gun. The chassis front armor was 150mm thick with 80mm thick side armor. The Henschel and Porsche companies came up with rival turret prototypes. After the trial production of 50 tanks with the Porsche turret, the Henschel design, with its extremely thick armor that measured 185mm on the front and 88mm on the side panels, was adopted for mass production. The Henschel turret itself was revised mid-way through production, from a stepped gun mantle to a smooth one. Due to the havoc wreaked by the King Tiger I during the final German offensive on the Ardennes front in December of 1944, the Allied forces that moved in on Berlin would fear the King Tiger up until the very last day of the war. As for the DKW NZ350 military motorcycle, production began in 1940. However, this German military motorcycle experienced mid-production changes when resources became limited towards the end of the war. DKW NZ350's at that time were seen with smaller headlights and thinned-out fenders. About the model Tamiya presents a 1/35 scale model of the German King Tiger accurately portrayed as it appeared during the final German offensive in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium. Total length: 294mm, total width: 108mm. Henschel design turret recreated in superb detail.Kit includes parts for two different types of gun mantles- stepped and smooth. Turret's rear escape hatch can be opened and closed after assembly. All other hatches can be assembled in the open or closed positions. Kit includes DKW NZ350 German Military Motorcycle recreated as it appeared during the latter stages of World War II with smaller headlight and thinned-out fender. Three figures included: Tank commander and orderly wearing leather jackets, and tank crewman.

This Support Came With Fire Power! During the middles stages of WWII, most German military vehicles had trouble providing adequate support to troops, therefore the N type tank was built to help solve this problem. The N type tank replaced its Marder III main battery with a 7.5cm gun which could fire high-performance high-explosive bursting projectile shells. From June 1942 through to August 1943, existing J, L, & M models also received these upgrades and 663 tanks were fitted, and another 37 were also upgraded later in 1944. In the summer of 1942 these tanks appeared on the battlefield with their highly explosive shells, and they proved to be highly efficient in their role of reinforcing the ground troops. They were deployed into newly organized heavy tank battalions, to make up for the lack of Tiger I tanks. As a support tank, the N type was easy to manage and very reliable, and in the latter half of WWII it fought at many fronts. Features This is a 1/35 plastic assembly model kit of the German Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf.N tank. Length 154mm. The short barrel 7.5cm gun has been realistically reproduced. Tamiya 35282 1/35 French Ba... $79.95
Defender of the Republic On May 15, 1940, the German invasion of France was in its 5th day. This story takes place at the town of Stonne, in northeastern France, south of Sedan, and involves a clash between units of the Grossdeutschland Regiment and B1 bis tanks from the French 3rd Armored Division. Lieutenant Beck Broichisitter of the 14th Anti-Tank Battery, who was there that day, directly experienced the fierce French counterattack. With enemy gunfire erupting from all sides, conditions in the German lines turned to chaos. Grenadiers from various companies had been left scattered and leaderless, with disabled and destroyed vehicles littering the area along the village street. Still the attack did not let up, and soon 6 B1 bis tanks, accompanied by numerous infantry, bore down on the German lines. Hurrying the 37mm anti-tank guns into position, commanders issued orders to fire, but the powerfully armored French tanks were very difficult to stop. In order to deal with the increasingly tense situation leading up to the outbreak of WWII, a decision was made to modify and improve the existing B1 tank, giving rise to the B1 bis. Distinctive features included the large 75mm gun turret and strengthened front armor. The engine was also upgraded to bring the tank up to contemporary standards. The French government tasked individual suppliers with producing key parts, which caused problems and greatly reduced the number of tanks that were built. Although these and other strategic failures inhibited the B1 bis tank"s ability on the battlefield, it was greatly feared by German soldiers who encountered it. Featuring strong firepower and defense, the B1 bis could more that hold its own against the tanks of the Wehrmacht during individual combat. Never before modeled as 1/35 plastic injection kit by any maker, the unique and distinctively shaped French B1 bis tank is now available from Tamiya"s 1/35 MM Series! Featuring small, one-man turret and large tracks going around the entire hull the B1 bis tank"s design evokes that of an earlier era, promising a fascinating and enjoyable modeling experience. Features 1/35 scale assembly model of the French B1 bis Realistically depicts tank's tall profile, 75mm gun and side armor panels covering suspension mechanisms. Hull parts are made using slide molding and feature accurately depicted hex bolts. Newly-designed track parts require no cement to assemble and snap together easily by hand. Commander's and driver's periscopes are moveable, as is the 75mm main gun. Choice of two types of fenders and exhausts, combined with 4 sets of markings allows construction of each possible combination. Includes realistic metal tow-chain, and 1 tank commander figure. Comes with colorful painting guide and four types of marking decals. Reverse side of painting guide features an exciting article about the exploits of B1 bis tanks facing German Panzers

TAMIYA
Tamiya 35239 1/35 German 18... $93.95
"Famo" When a tank became inoperative, the Recovery Platoons were informed of the condition of both the tank and the surrounding road surface. Tanks such as Pz.Kpfw.III and Pz.Kpfw.IV could be towed by a single 18 ton heavy half-track, but heavy tanks such as the Tiger I or Panther required three or more towing vehicles. In that case, about 5 meters of wire rope was used to link each of the half-tracks together. Except for emergency situations, a draw-bar was used for the tank/half-track linkage instead of wire rope. After the linkage was complete, a commander and signalman boarded the lead half-track, directing the other half-tracks by a series of hand signals. Largest Half-Track in the German Army Detailed information on the finished FAMO is presented one month after the initial report of the mock-up. The FAMO was the largest half-track in the German army, and the model reflects the size and detail of this behemoth. Combine with the Panzer III, IV, Tiger I and Panther for a variety of diorama possibilities. Did Somebody Call a Tow Truck? In the wake of Blitzkrieg advances made by the Wehrmacht at the outbreak of WWII, the recovery of damaged or broken tanks from the battlefield proved relatively simple. After securing an area, reinforcing divisions could easily send inoperative vehicles back to the homeland for repair via railway. However, in the seesaw battles with the British Army in North Africa and against the Russian Army on the Russian front, the quick replenishment of tank strength became an indispensable element of Wehrmacht battle strategy. The utilization of the 18 ton Heavy Half-Track “Famo” proved fundamental to this strategy. The proposal for the development of the Wehrmacht half-tracks was first made in 1932. Originally, three half-tracks, designated by their towing capability (5 ton, 8 ton and 12 ton) were designed, until 1936, when a light 3 ton vehicle and a heavy 18 ton vehicle, the largest one in the Wehrmacht, were also added. The 18 ton half track was mainly developed for the towing of 21cm and 24cm artillery howitzer and of course for tank recovery. It could also be used for the transport of over 30 troops. Features 1/35 plastic assembly kit of the largest half-track in the German Army. Overall Length: 243mm, Overall Width: 75mm. Highly detailed model captures the size and tank-towing power of the FAMO. Realistic treads and suspension. Synthetic rubber front tires and steerable front wheels for maximum realism. Rear gate and storage doors can be assembled in the open or closed position. Tank towing drawbar included. Can be assembled with or without engine side panels, revealing fully detailed engine. Engine can be assembled outside of FAMO. Eight figures (four variations) included.

Tamiya 35177 1/35 German St... $50.95
A very rare variant of the much feared Tiger I heavy tank, was the ‘Sturmtiger’ assault weapon that mounted a gigantic 38cm caliber mortar on the tank chassis. Development was initiated in August 1943 and was intended for uses against heavily fortified areas. Th short barreled L/5.4, type RW61 mortar was originally developed by Rheinmetall-Borsig, for the German navy’s land-based protection against an enemy submarine attack. In order to withstand the heavy recoil of up to 40 tons, the Tiger I’s sturdy chassis was selected. A decision was made to use only those chassis/hulls that were sent back from the front, so that new production of the tank would not be affected. A fighting compartment was formed of a boxlike superstructure which was bolted to the lower hull itself. Its armor plate measured 150mm thick at the front and 80mm on the sides. Later, a steel ring counterweight was added to the mouth of the mortar barrel on some vehicles to make elevation aiming easier. The mortar’s huge self propelled rocket projectile was 149cm long and weighed 330kg. For loading these heavy rockets aboard, a hand cranked crane was mounted to the right aft side of the upper hull. Due to the rocket’s size, storage space was very limited and only 14 shells could be carried. Conversion production of the Sturmtiger began in August 1944, and by the end of December a total of 18 units had been completed and sent to the front for action during the final stage of the conflict.
