British forces in the 1991 Persian Gulf War were able to rely on a significant asset in the Challenger 1, its awe-inspiring 120mm main gun accounting for numerous Iraqi T-72 tanks, and the crew protected ably by front and side composite and reactive armor.
This kit can be assembled to recreate a Challenger 1 used by British forces, or also NATO troops. Nylon mesh is included to recreate the baskets encircling the turret. Two highly realistic figures are included; one depicts a bescarfed commander in desert conditions, while the other captures a commander in the distinctive NATO cold-climate uniform.

Although its purpose was to provide aerial defense against Allied aircraft attack from a grounded position, it was also seen used with trucks and other land vehicles as well on warships. Features of the model including the skyward aimed gun barrels, ammunition cartridges, operating handles, pedals etc. have all been realistically reproduced. “Queen of the Desert”
The Matilda was developed as a heavily armored infantry tank and was the British Army's main tank in North Africa during WWII. She swept aside Italian opponents and was respectfully called the “Queen of the Desert” by German forces. During Operation Battleaxe to lift the siege of Tobruk in June 1941, German forces famously used their 88mm AA guns in the anti-tank role as they were the only effective counter against Matildas which could be found. The Matilda has written her name into the history books as a highly effective tank which continually proved her worth during many fierce battles throughout North Africa.

The first M4 Sherman production model was designated the M4A1, and possessed a distinctively rounded cast hull. A total of 6,281 M4A1 tanks were produced between February 1942 and December 1943. Armed with a 75mm M3 cannon and powered by a 350hp Continental air-cooled R975-C1 radial gasoline engine, the M4A1 was capable of top speeds of 38.9km/h. Early versions had the M34 gun mount with narrow shield, while the 3-piece gear housing was changed to a 1-piece design in later production runs. Applique armor was often added to the upper hull and turret in order to improve protection. The M4A1 served with many armies on various fronts, including with the British 8th Army in North Africa, where it contributed to the victory at El Alamein.

One of the most successful tanks fielded by the British in WWII, the Cromwell compared favorably with tanks of similar weight such as the Sherman and Panzer IV. Most were armed with the 75mm Q.F. Mk.V/VA, which was based on the 6 Pdr. but chambered to fire American ammunition. This was a very good dual-purpose gun, able to destroy enemy anti-tank guns at long range, or penetrate the frontal armor of a Panzer IV at normal battle ranges. However it was less effective against German heavy tanks. The Cromwell first saw action during the Normandy campaign, where it was at a disadvantage as it could not use its superior speed and agility, but this changed after the fighting moved to open country. Cromwell tanks made some spectacular advances in their pursuit of the Germans across Northern France, Belgium and Holland. The Cromwell served again in Korea and was finally retired in the late 1950's.

The Zuikaku was seen as one of the best-balanced aircraft carriers in the Pacific War. Commissioned in September 1941, she had been planned after the Japanese exit from the Washington Naval Treaty in 1936 and was as such not subject to some of the limitations it imposed, being built in-line with Navy demands. Together with her sister ship the Shokaku, she formed Carrier Division 5 and took part in the Pearl Harbor attacks of December 8, 1941, during which all of her aircraft made it back. In April 1942 she would sink the HMS Hermes in the Indian Ocean and that May she accounted for the USS Lexington in the Battle of the Coral Sea. Thereafter she served in fighting around the Solomon Islands and the South Pacific, before meeting her end at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944.

America's first tank destroyer, the M10 was mounted on a Sherman hull and had an open-topped turret carrying a 3-inch (76.2mm) cannon capable of penetrating 8.8cm of armor at 1000m distance. Due to the need for high mobility, the M10 wore relatively thin armor plating. However, auxiliary armor could be added easily using the bolts located on the turret and hull. Facing its baptism of fire against the Germans in Tunisia in 1943, the M10 Tank Destroyer went on to serve in Italy, Western Europe and the Pacific.

For the 2005 WRC Monte Carlo Rally, the Subaru team entered the upgraded Subaru Impreza as used in the latter half of the 2004 season. Despite suffering brake troubles, 2003 champion Petter Solberg was able to keep up with the leaders after the first 2 days.
