A Modern Great
GT racing has captured the imagination of race fans across the world, with cutting edge cars from famed marques such as Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi and more. That illustrious list also includes Mercedes and the German auto giant's Mercedes-AMG GT3, developed in line with the FIA's GT3 class specs. The AMG GT production car is used as a base, and given an aluminum space frame, carbon fiber body components, a mammoth rear wing, rear diffuser, front spoiler and other racy upgrades. Power is provided by a monster 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V8 mounted in the front. Delivery of the car began in 2016; in addition to gracing the Super GT series in Japan, the AMG GT3 has taken part in major races across the world. One of the highlights of its 2016 season was taking the Blancpain GT Series driver and team titles in HTP motorsport colors, a feat perhaps surpassed by an overwhelming display at that year's 24 Hours Nurburgring where Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars took the top four places.
This scale model assembly kit recreates the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT3 race car. It is a GT3 class spec customer sports car that was converted from the AMG GT road car by the Mercedes-AMG high performance division.

Its carbon fiber body overhauls the road car version and has a prominent grille inspired by the classic 300 SL. The race car is also fitted with racing essentials such as a large rear wing, air intakes, splitter, canards and diffusers contributing to its aerodynamics. All of these details are expertly detailed in the model kit to give the modeler the most accurate parts to finish the model.

Developed in response to a February 1937 request from the armed forces for a fighter excelling in speed, firepower and range, the P-38 Lightning would be a wildly successful design that had around 10,000 units produced and spawned numerous US ace pilots. While its design was constantly evolved from its maiden 1939 flight onwards, more powerful engines eventually overtook the P-38's cooling function, and output was limited to 1,250hp at higher altitudes. In August 1943 the answer to this problem appeared: the P-38J, which featured intercoolers moved from the wing leading edges to the underside of the engines. The superior cooling enabled use of its full 1,425hp even at high altitudes, while the newly-available leading edge space was not put to waste, being filled with auxiliary fuel tanks to improve the fighter's range.

Legendary Aircraft
The deployment of the F-4 Phantom II started in the early 1960s and over 5,000 were manufactured during its production run. The F-4 Phantom II was operated by not only the Navy and Air Force in America, but also other countries on account of its long range and superlative loading capacity. In 1952, the Navy desired a supersonic aircraft and while the F-8 Crusader produced by the Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc. was employed, the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation continued to develop a two-seater interceptor with powerful dual engines. This aircraft equipped four each of AIM-7E Sparrows and AIM-9G/H Sidewinders, and was officially adopted as the F4H-1 in December 1958 (which was later renamed the F-4A). The F-4B's production started in 1961 and its delivery began with the Fighter Squadron VF-74. In 1965, two F-4Bs shot down two North Vietnamese MiG-17 each, but the most enemy kills in the early stages of the Vietnam War were carried out by the F-8. However, from Operation Linebacker in 1972 onward, F-4 deployment increased and it was operated for air-to-ground strikes. After that, various kinds of F-4 aircraft were developed and some have even been in service with some countries for half a century.

Ready for Take-Off!
The F-14 Tomcat is a legend of the skies, which served between 1973 and 2006 and - with powerful radar and long-range missiles - was developed for carrier-based units. Its most prolifically produced variant was the F-14A, which itself was given a number of upgrades throughout its production; late F-14As (those produced from the late 1980s) featured a more reliable engine design, and notably, the AN/AXX-1 TCS camera pod, plus the AN/ALQ-126 ECM antenna ahead of the wing gloves. Some even had alterations to the fuselage allowing installation of the TARPS reconnaissance pod. From the early 1990s, the aircraft was capable of mounting bombs on its belly; in conjunction with the AN/AAQ-25 LANTIRN pod, these were laser-guided - the F-14A had evolved into a multi-role fighter. Carrier launches required a steam catapult, to which the aircraft would be harnessed with its nose lowered, variable sweep wing forward, and flaps and slats down. Numerous flight deck crew would be engaged in the launch, including a "Shooter," who gave the signal for take-off.
This model kit recreates the Grumman F-14A Tomcat. The F-14A Tomcat U.S. Navy Fighter is famous for being the first mass-production and the most-produced model among the F-14 series. This kit realistically depicts the F-14A Tomcat (Late Model) - in service from the late 1980s to the early 2000s- with wings featuring separate flaps and slats. The kit includes one crew figure and paper flight deck sheet for use on a super realistic diorama set.

Durable wing spar components ensure secure fit. Late model features such as chin pod with camera, antenna and so on are depicted.
Plenty of accessories are included: standard and laser-guided bombs, reconnaissance camera pod, and air-to-air missiles.
Parts accurately depict late model ejector seats and instrumentation.
Comes with 2 crew figures featuring late model standard flight uniform.

Tamiya 60766 1/72 Focke-Wul...
$17.95
Development of the FW190 series began in the Autumn of 1937, under a contract issued by the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (Air Ministry) for a single seat fighter to supplement the Messerschmitt Bf109. Two proposals were submitted by Kurt Tank, the technical director of the Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau (aircraft factory). The proposal using the then new BMW 801 aircooled radial engine was chosen. This tough and powerful engine was placed in a robust airframe and provided superb handling, well balanced control, and brisk acceleration. It entered service in 1941, flying alongside the Bf 109 and it soon took control of air superiority over the English Channel. Establishing itself as a mainstay fighter of the Luftwaffe, it outperformed the contemporary Spitfire Mk.V's in almost every respect and maintained this advantage until the arrival of the Spitfire IX in July 1942. The Fw190 fighter underwent constant improvement throughout its life. The A-3 version used the improved BMW 801Dg engine that produced 1,700hp. Armament was increased from four to six guns, consisting of two rapid firing MG151's in the wing roots; two MG FF's outboard of the landing gear and two fuselage mounted MG 17 machine guns. Throughout WW2, many Luftwaffe squadrons allowed personal pilot markings and distinctive squadron insignia to be used, plus lower cowl, wing tip and rudder color additions to the original paint schemes.

Lighting Strikes!
The P-38 Lightning was developed by Lockheed in response to a 1937 proposal from the United States Army Air Corps. Its twin V12 engines were housed one each in twin booms that stretched back to the tailplane, flanking a central nacelle containing the cockpit and weaponry. A combination of superb range, firepower and carrying capacity ensured that the P-38 was a superior fighter-bomber, and it made a considerable impact after joining fighting in Europe in 1942. It was also active in the Pacific War from late that year, its escapades including the shooting down of Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto in 1943 that provided a significant morale boost for the Allied cause.
Features
This is a 1/48 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 240mm, width: 330mm.
Exhaustive studies of actual P-38 aircraft enabled this precise recreation of the distinctive twin boom aircraft form, with particular highlights being early model slimline engine cowlings, wing shape and rounded canopy design.
Integrated landing gear bay and wing spar parts ensure sturdy assembly and accurate recreation of angle. Choose between P-38F and P-38G canopy designs, with each able to be assembled open or closed.
The detailed cockpit features recreations of the control wheel, bulletproof glass plate, rear-mounted radio equipment and more.
One-piece tailplane horizontal stabilizer slides on and is secured by rudder components.
Metallic finish decals are used on main and nose landing gear strut cylinders.
The nose has depictions of four 12.7mm machine guns and the 20mm cannon.
Weights are included to ensure correct balance of the model when on display.
Comes with a seated pilot figure, two marking options and an informative background information leaflet in four languages.
The highly realistic pilot figure was created using the latest 3D scanning techniques, and seating it in the cockpit will add plenty of extra realism.
Parts are included for 150- and 300-gallon drop tanks. P-38Gs in Operation Vengeance carried one of each, and can be recreated.
Choose whether to assemble this kit with the ladder in extended or stowed positions, with dedicated parts in the box to recreate either.
The slimline engine cowlings are captured with aplomb. Special decals are used to recreate the mirror sections on the inner faces.
Inside the box, modelers will find a comprehensive decal sheet to recreate markings, plus masking stickers to aid with the canopy paint job.
Landing gear sections feature a sturdy design, with plenty of detail to admire on the depictions of their interior workings.
A full color painting guide is included in the kit to ensure that you have all the information needed to accurately finish your very own P-38 masterpiece!

A Pearl Harbor Escort
The Abukuma was a smartly designed 5500 ton light cruiser completed in 1925 as the sixth ship of the Nagara class. Armed with seven 14cm guns and four dual 61cm torpedo launchers and with a top speed of 36 knots, she had significant offensive capabilities. During a training exercise in October 1930, the Abukuma lost its bow, so it became the only ship in the Nagara-class to have the high double curved bow for better seaworthiness. While undergoing modernization, the Abukuma was fitted with powerful two quadruple 61cm torpedo launchers. During the Pacific War, it served as the flagship for the 1st Destroyer Squadron and as an escort for the Pearl Harbor attack force. She also took part in "the miraculous operation," the withdrawal from Kiska. Abukuma's luck ran out in October 1944, when she met her final fate at the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
Abukuma Specifications
Displacement: 5,170 tons (At time of construction)
Length: 162.15m, Width: 14.17m
Propulsion: 4 steam turbines.
Speed: 36 knots
Armament: 14cm guns x7, quadruple 61cm torpedo launchers x2
Features
This is a 1/700 scale plastic assembly kit of the Japanese Light Cruiser Abukuma.
Length 230mm. Classic design with long, narrow hull and 3 funnels accurately reproduced.
The hull divides into left and right parts. The Abukuma was the only ship with a double curved bow in the Nagara-class. The ship's fine details like the telegram lines are realistically reproduced.
Model depicts the ship as she appeared at the time of Pearl Harbor, with quadruple torpedo launchers, seven 14cm guns, various anti-aircraft equipment, and a uniquely shaped shelter-style deck.
The 140mm guns and catapult can turn freely.
It would be interesting to compare the Abukuma to other 5,500 ton light cruisers in the Kuma-class and Nagara-class.
Completed in 1925, the Abukuma was the last ship in the Nagara-class of light cruisers/destroyer flotilla leaders and took part in many major naval engagements in the Pacific War. Due to a collision with the cruiser Kitakami during an exercise in 1930, the Abukuma featured a different bow shape than her sister ships and was thus easily distinguishable. Fast and well-armed with seven 140mm guns and eight torpedo tubes, the cruiser first saw action in Chinese waters, protecting transports near Shanghai. It then acted as flagship for the destroyers that escorted the Pearl Harbor carrier strike force in December, 1941. The Abukuma was also present at several battles in the South Pacific as well as the Aleutian Islands, before finally being sunk off the coast of the Philippines by U.S. aircraft in 1944.
