The FV18001 Mk. 1 utility vehicle, widely recognised for its compact size and off-road performance, was a critical asset to the British Army in the post-war and Cold War periods. Derived from the civilian Land Rover Series I, the military version was modified to meet rugged operational demands and was deployed globally in roles ranging from patrol duties to liaison tasks. Its enduring design paved the way for successive generations of military Land Rovers. This detailed 1/35 scale kit from Gecko Models represents the late production version of the British FV18001 Mk. 1 80-inch 4×4 utility vehicle. Based on the iconic Land Rover design, this vehicle served the British Army with reliability and adaptability across a wide range of roles, from troop transport to communications and reconnaissance. The Universal Carrier is a tracked multipurpose transport vehicle developed based on the Bren Gun Carrier. It was widely used by the Allied forces during World War II for transporting personnel and supplies, as well as for towing artillery. Additionally, there were variants designed for infantry support, equipped with Vickers heavy machine guns, Bren light machine guns, and Boys anti-tank rifles, as well as self-propelled mortars that carried 3-inch mortars and their crews. Production of this vehicle began in 1940, and by the end of production in 1960, approximately 57,000 units had been produced in the UK alone, with around 28,000 units produced in Canada. It was also manufactured in many other countries, including Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, making the exact total production number unknown. Furthermore, the Soviet Army received 2,008 units through Lend-Lease between 1941 and 1945, mainly used in reconnaissance units.  This is a plastic model kit. Designed in 1935 Hawker Hurricane Mk.I was the first modern fighter airplane which was made for the Royal Air Force. It was created by Sydney Camm – the chief designer of the Hawker Siddeley Company. Although its design was similar to earlier Hawker’s planes (fuselage framework of round tubes and metal and fabric surface), it made great quality change for the Royal Air Force Fighter Command. The most important features were closed cockpit, rectractable undercarriage and big firepower – 8 7.7mm Browning machine guns. Its heart were famous Rolls Royce Merlin II and III engines. The first Hurricanes started replacing older biplane fighters (i.e Hawker Fury, Gloster Gauntlet and Gladiator) in December 1936. At the outbreak of the second world war 16 squadrons were operational. The Hurricanes sent to France drew first blood in combats with German Luftwaffe. After bloody struggle in France and Norway Royal Air Force Fighter Command had to face the enemy over England. As there were more Hurricane squadrons than Spitfire ones during the Battle of Britain, Hawker’s fighter should bear a name of “Defender of the Empire” Hawker Hurricane was also the first type of British fighters used by Polish day fighter squadrons formed in the United Kingdom before introducing more modern Spitfires. With the production growing more Hurricanes were sent to other parts of the British Empire where British forces faced Germans and Italians – to Malta, East and North Africa. Legendary PZL P.11c is known as a defender of Poland in September 1939. It has been created three years after the death of Zygmunt Puławski, designer of the gull-winged PZL fighters family. The „c” version has been designed by Wsiewołod Jakimiuk as a development of the first production version, the PZL P.11a. Modifications included fuselage front (truss construction instead of stressed-skin), raising of the pilot's seat and lowering the engine, which improved visibility from the cockpit. Power unit was stronger, 600 hp variant of the British Bristol Mercury version, license produced in Warsaw. Armament was strengthened with two additional machine guns in wings and racks for four bombs. Jakimiuk introduced also completely new rounded fin shape and longer streamlined fairing behind pilot's head. First P.11c from the ordered batch of 150 airframes reached the units in 1935. Air force re-armament process was never fully finished due to creation of the new squadrons. As a result, almost all the fighter wings went to the war with PZL P.11 in both „a” and „c” versions and three squadrons had to use obsolete PZL P.7a. P.11c in "Kresy" Squadrons Last units equipped with P.11c were the new squadrons: 152. EM from the 5th Aviation Regiment (Wilno) and 161. EM from the 6th Aviation Regiment (Lwów). They were formed to defend Polish Eastern Borderlands (Kresy) from active Soviet infiltration. In summer 1938 there were big exercises held in Volhynia to prepare against possible Red Army attack. The squadrons also sent temporary detachments to Border Protection Corps (K.O.P.) outpost in Sarny in Volhynia. In 1939 Campaign 152. EM was attached to the Army Modlin and 161. EM (and 162. EM with P.7a) to the Army Łodź. In 1939 the „elevens” fought the Germans since 1st September morning till the evacuation forced by the Soviet aggression on 17th September. Despite being already quite obsolete and inferior in speed and armament even to the German bombers, thanks to extraordinary maneuverability and pilot's skills P.11 fighters managed to effectively oppose the enemy, sometimes even to win in dogfights against fighters. While the losses have been high, 35 airworthy PZL P.11c were evacuated to Romania. These planes have been confiscated by Romanians and joined their PZL P.11band f and P.24 fleet. Since 22nd June of 1941 the „elevens” marked with yellow crosses took part in the war against Soviet Union, remaining in frontline units till the September 1943! New tool model of famous P.11c. Dragon item 6664 is a new combo set that includes both an Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.D and a 7.5cm PaK 40. Notably, it's also a 2-in-1 kit, allowing customers to assemble either a standard Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.D towing a 7.5cm PaK 40, or an Sd.Kfz.251/22 with the 7.5cm PaK 40 mounted on the fighting vehicle. The interior configurations of both fighting vehicles are faithfully reproduced respectively. This versatile kit meets the latest upgrade standards for the Sd.Kfz.251, featuring Ez-Track, an aluminium gun barrel, a 3D-printed muzzle brake, bonus early-type individual tracks as an option, metal width indicator poles, and three types of tarpaulin as bonus items. The kit provides customers with multiple configuration options to suit their diorama planning needs.

Dragon has already released a 1/35 scale kit of the American M4 Mortar Carrier, and has now backed it up with a new kit of its successor, the M21 Mortar Motor Carriage. The M21 had a number of improvements over the M4, chief of which was the vehicle being based on the longer M3 halftrack chassis. This extended length allowed the mounted mortar to fire towards the front (rather than rearwards as on the M4), and permitted the .50-cal machine gun to be mounted in a pedestal near the rear of the vehicle. The main armament of the M21 halftrack was obviously the M1 81mm mortar, which was supplied with 97 rounds. Another distinctive feature of the M21 was the fitting of stowage racks along the external sides of the fighting compartment. The M21 Mortar Carrier was used by both US and Free French forces during WWII. Dragon’s new 1/35 scale M21 kit is well appointed. The new rear door on the hull can be posed open or closed, while the fighting compartment itself is brand new to replicate the M21’s unique configuration. The whole of the open-topped fighting compartment is fully detailed, including a brand new M1 mortar with aluminum tube. The internal ammo racks are filled with newly tooled mortar rounds ready for firing. On the outside of the fighting compartment are brand new stowage racks, and here Dragon has come up with a neat solution. The external mine racks come as a pre-molded option with all the mines in place, or alternatively, a full set of individual mines can be affixed as chosen by the modeler. These separate mines come with photo-etched parts to provide heightened detail. To ensure this M21 is ready for action, Dragon also throws in a bonus driver figure. As can be seen, Dragon’s M21 has an exhaustive set of specifications that allow modelers to create a model full of individual flair!
