The 4x4 which was ahead of its time From the request of the Japanese army, the world's first light weight 4x4 vehicles were developed and named "Kurogane". From December 1937 after various improvements, a new type was produced. It carried 3 passengers, had a 1,400cc 33 horse power air cooled V two type cylinder engine. It had front wheel independent, rear wheel leaf spring suspension and large tires. From 1930 to 1939, about 4,800 vehicles of various types were made. The lightweight 4x4 Kurogane was used for reconnaissance and communication in China, South East Asia, and the Pacific. Features This Japanese 4x4 Light Vehicle Type 95 Kurogane is a plastic model assembly kit. Length 75mm. Has a distinct roundish individualistic style. Palm-Top Blitzer The Panzer II Ausf.A/B/C variants were the mainstay tanks of the German Panzer Divisions during the Blitzkreig operations of early-WWII. They were compact (4.8m long, 2.2m wide) tanks equipped with a 140hp gasoline engine, which enabled a maximum speed of 40km/h. Although they were lightly armed with only a 2cm main gun and a 7.92mm machine gun and even their frontal armor was a mere 15mm thick, they provided valiant service during the Polish and French campaigns when the German Army had a shortage of the more capable Pz.Kpfw. III tanks. In particular, many Pz.Kpfw. IIs which saw combat in France were modified with extra frontal armor plating. A Borrowed Design After the effective annexation of Czechoslovakia by Nazi Germany in 1939, German forces were interested enough in the native Czech LTvz38 light tank that they took it on and ordered production under their own categorization of 38(t), a light tank with riveted, welded armor and a perky 3.7cm gun. Early production 38(t)s took part in the early German offensives of the war, and the 38(t) underwent continued development with 1,400 produced in total. Ausf.E and F 38(t)s had additional armor across the vehicle for better survivability and were deployed during the early stages of Operation Barbarossa as Nazi Germany once again invaded a neighbor, this time the Soviet Union. Features This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 132mm, width: 62mm. The 38(t) form with riveted armour plate is accurately depicted. A Nifty Design Japan Ground Self Defense Force units were first provided with the highly mobile, well-defended Light Armored Vehicle since 2002, and it has proven a successful design capable to speeds up to 100km/h thanks to its 160hp diesel engine. It was deployed in Iraq from 2004, and subsequent vehicles were updated with lessons learned from the hard service there, featuring updates such as a rear bracket for fuel cans and the spare tire. The New Kid in Town Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) units began receiving the eight-wheel Type 16 Maneuver Combat Vehicle in 2017; it is expected to form a central part of the Rapid Deployment Regiments called for in a mobile Japanese defense policy. It certainly fits the bill, with a top speed of 100km/h thanks to a 570hp engine, and can utilize public highways as well as being airlifted. The distinctively modern turret is equipped with a domestically designed L/52 105mm rifled gun, capable of accurate fire on the move; it is anticipated that Type 16s will be able to both provide supporting fire and take on enemy armor. One such variant was the M4A3E8, which was one of the final Sherman types and thus had the benefit of design improvements developed from experience in battle. This model kit recreates the M551 Sheridan Armored Reconnaissance/Airborne Assault Vehicle (AR/AAV). The M551 was designed as airdrop capable armor with wading capabilities, a key concept as the U.S. took on the role of global policeman post WWII. With an aluminum hull and rolled steel turret, it weighed just 15 tons, but had impressive firepower in the shape of the M81 152mm gun/launcher, which could fire standard rounds and MGM-51 Shillelagh missiles. A Hard Hitter Developed for infantry support during WWII, the Assault Tank IV married the trusty Pz.Kpfw.IV chassis with a simple fighting compartment featuring 100mm of front and 50mm of side armor, plus a high-powered 15cm gun that could defeat 160mm of 30-degree armor from 5km. Its variants can largely be grouped into early, mid and late production types, the latter of which was most numerous with 160 examples manufactured between May 1944 and March 1945. Feedback from crews of earlier Brummbärs had led to new a fighting compartment design and cupola, plus partial use of steel road wheels. This is a 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit model of the British Tank Churchill Mk.VII Crocodile. The Churchill design was the result of a chastening experience for British forces in early WWII, a more modern design that could be produced quickly to make up for armor shortfalls after the Dunkirk evacuations. The Mk.VII variant was up-gunned with a 75mm gun and had improved armor up to 152mm thick! The Crocodile is one of the most notable “special” variants of the Churchill. It had an 80-plus meter range flamethrower in place of the front machine gun, towing its fuel and compressed nitrogen propellant in a trailer behind.

Seek & Destroy The famed Tamiya 1/35 Military Miniature Series welcomes the first major U.S. tank destroyer - the M10 - into its ranks. This versatile AFV was developed largely to give U.S. forces a potential counter to the German armor tactics which proved successful in the early stages of WWII. It utilized the successful M4A2 Sherman chassis with diesel powerplant, and mounted the 76.2mm gun in an open-top rotating turret; the hull featured extensive use of sloped armor, kept thin so as not to hinder maneuverability. Where It All Began - The First Panther The Ausf.D was the debut variant of the famed German WWII tank Panther. The Ausf.D was followed by improved Ausf.A and G variants, and while the Panther was unable to stop the tide from turning against Germany it nonetheless revolutionized German armored vehicle design, and remained on the front line until the end of hostilities.
