The Tornado arose from a collaborative project between Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom to produce a multi-role high-performance combat aircraft. The introduction of the Macchi MC 202 Folgore was a significant development for the fighter squadrons of the Italian Regia Aeronautica. Stylishly designed from an aerodynamical perspective, it was fitted with the powerful German DB 601 engine produced under license by the Italian aeronautical industry. The engine and overall aeronautical performance of the aircraft provided the Regia Aeronautica with a fighter capable of actively engaging Allied fighters. The flight performance compared to the previous generation of fighters equipped with radial engines, such as the Fiat G-50 and the Macchi Mc-200, was in fact much better. Manoeuvrable and fast (it was able to reach 600 km h), it was armed, in the early versions, with two 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns installed in the nose. Only in later versions were the armaments improved with additional machine-guns installed in the wings. The Macchi M.C. 205 Veltro is considered the best Italian fighter of World War II. The evolution of the "Folgore" retained the excellent aeronautical design of its predecessor and was equipped, like other fighters of the "Series 5", with the German Daimler-Benz DB605 engine. The powerful V12 engine, also produced under license by Fiat, allowed the Veltro to reach a maximum speed of 640 km/h. Fast, maneuverable, and well-armed, with 2 × 12.7 mm machine guns in the nose and 2 × 20 mm cannons in the wings, it was capable of fighting on par with the best Allied fighters of the period, such as the American P-51 Mustang. It entered service with the Regia Aeronautica in the early months of 1943. After the armistice of September 8, it was used, until the end of the conflict, by both the flight units of the Italian Social Republic and those of the Co-Belligerent Air Force. The kit will release the highest level of realism: new moulds made with the most advanced design and production standards, great attention to detail and the introduction of innovative solutions such as the cockpit with 3D decals. The M4 Sherman medium tank was undoubtedly the most widespread and utilized armored vehicle during the Second World War. The M4 formed the backbone of the American armored forces and was produced in numerous versions and variants. The first model to enter large-scale production was the Sherman M4A1, characterized by its rounded hull and cast turret. Early Shermans were equipped with a 75mm gun, later replaced by a high-velocity 76mm gun. The Sherman M4A1 entered service in 1942 and equipped the armored units of the United States Army in the early months of the war. However, its true strength lay in its design. The Panzerkampfwagen V “Panther” is widely recognised as one of the best tanks that was produced during World War 2. It was deployed as a direct response to the Soviet T-34 and KV-1 tanks on the Eastern Front, which were superior to  both the Panzer III and Panzer IV in terms of performance and armaments. Powered by a 700 horsepower V-12 Mayback engine, it was armed with the 75 mm KwK 42 high speed gun which was a very effective anti-tank weapon.  The Panther was designed with optimal armor protection, including inclined front armor. Its overall mobility, speed and armaments made the Panther one of the leading tanks of the period, and ensured its deployment on all of the main operational fronts, from the East through Italy and France. The Panzerkampfwagen VI  Tiger I is undoubtedly one of the most famous tanks of World War II. It was developed to provide the armored divisions of the Wehrmacht with a heavily armored and heavily armed tank to complement the more common medium tanks, Panzer III and Panzer IV, which were no longer effectively countering enemy tanks. Its primary armament consisted of the renowned and lethal long-barreled 88mm KwK 36 L/56 anti-tank gun. Installed in the turret and protected by a heavy 120mm shielding, it could penetrate the armor of any contemporary enemy vehicle even at long distances. Deployed on all major theatres of operation, it played an active role in German military operations in Normandy and the Western Front. Despite facing issues of reliability and deployment, the heavy tank, when operated by skilled crews, was always greatly feared by the Allied forces. Born to provide fire support to the German infantry according to the tactical concepts of Blitzkrieg, the SturmGeschütz III evolved during the war into new and more advanced versions with a different mission profile. On the Eastern Front, encounters with the more powerful and innovative Soviet tanks led to an expansion of its role, transitioning from supporting infantry squads to serving as an effective anti-tank armored vehicle. Simple and cost-effective in construction, it was one of the most produced vehicles by German industries until the end of the war. With the introduction of the "G" version specialized in the anti-tank role, the version armed with a 105 mm howitzer (Sturmhaubitze 42) was also introduced. The Panzer III development started in the mid-1930s with the specific goal to make it the backbone of the armoured battalions of the Wehrmacht, alongside a smaller number of heavier tanks (Panzer IV). Initially armed with a 37mm cannon, the Panzer III moved rapidly to a 50mm cannon and, in the upgraded versions (Ausf M and L), to the 75/24 gun with 64 rounds already used on the Panzer IV. At the beginning of World War II, the U.S. Army had lightweight and lightly armed vehicles, called "scout cars," for advanced reconnaissance activities. Developed during the war, the M-8 Greyhound armored car, characterized by increased protection and heavier armament, represented a turning point for the American army. The vehicle provided greater operational flexibility and could be more effectively used to support ground troops thanks to the 37mm cannon installed in the turret. First used on the Italian front, from Monte Cassino to Anzio, it later participated in the D-Day operations in June 1944. Although the terrain in Normandy proved challenging and demanding during the initial phases of the operation, later on the M-8 was particularly appreciated for its speed of movement and versatility in deployment. The M-20 version was developed from the M8 version for Military Police duties and command vehicle roles. In February 1943, to replace the now outdated KV tanks, the first prototype models of heavy tanks intended to equip the armored units of the Red Army were produced. The most notable of the tanks developed to counter the new and heavily armored German vehicles, such as the Tiger and the Panther, was the Joseph Stalin JS-2. Armed with the powerful 122 mm cannon installed in a centrally mounted turret, it was characterized by a cast steel hull, heavy armor, and the adoption of a 12-cylinder diesel engine with over 600 HP. The overall weight of the tank was 46 tons. It was employed in the battles that led to the recapture of Ukraine, operational activities in Hungary, and, in the final phase of the conflict, during the Battle of Berlin. The Saab JAS 39 Gripen entered service in the second half of the 1990s, representing a significant advancement over its predecessors, such as the long-serving Saab 37 Viggen.
