Tamiya 56018 1/16 King Tige... $1,260.95
Tamiya continues to develop its 1/16 R/C Tank Series. The fourth full-option kit to make its appearance is the German Heavy Tank King Tiger. Not only can the model move forward and backward and turn with a great sense of power, but the turret can be rotated and the 88mm gun raised and lowered. To imitate the firing of the main gun and of front machinegun, light flashes while sound is heard. The sound of the engine has been recorded, with the assistance of the French museum of Saumur, from a real Maybach HL230-P30 engine of the only King Tiger kept in working condition in the world. Not only all stages of engine sound (idling through full throttle) but also all the metallic clanking of the tank tracks have been thoroughly recorded. Zimmerit coating, realistic and easy to apply During the second half of WWII, Zimmerit coating was applied on German tanks to protect them from the threat of magnetic mines. For this kit, the Zimmerit coating has been replicated with unique relief printed stickers. Thanks to these stickers, you can now represent accurately a late war King Tiger with great ease. The German King Tiger (Henschel Turret) The German Heavy Tank King Tiger made its appearance during WWII in 1944. The chassis front armor was 150mm thick with 80mm thick side armor and powered by a 700hp Maybach HL230-P30 engine. The Henschel and Porsche companies came up with rival turret prototypes. The first fifty tanks produced had Porsche turret whereas subsequent tanks were equipped with the Henschel designed production turret that featured many improvements over the first model. The King Tiger was armed with a 71-caliber 88mm gun that had enough power to pierce 150mm thick armor from 2,000m away. Between the beginning of production in Summer 1944 and March 1945, 440 units were completed. Due to the havoc wreaked by the King Tiger during the final German offensive on the Ardennes front in December of 1944, the Allied forces that moved in on Berlin would fear the King Tiger up until the very last day of the war. Features 1/16 R/C German Heavy Tank King Tiger assembly kit.  Overall Length: 640mm, Overall Width: 235mm. The massive form of the most powerful tank of WWII has been accurately portrayed.  88mm gun barrel replicated with aluminum.  Intricate tank tracks come pre-assembled.  Kit includes commander figure (upper torso), and decals for the portrayal of 3 different King Tiger Heavy Tanks Realistic Engine Sounds 2 types of engine starting sounds Besides using electric motor starter in general conditions, the King Tiger's engine was started using a crank starter on cold days to save batteries power. This model realistically replicates both of these procedures. When switching on transmitter first, the crank starting sound is heard, but when you switch on the receiver first, electric motor starting sound is heard. You can now feel like you are part of the tank crew as you decide which procedure to follow based on temperature conditions. Recording the actual engine sound The only King Tiger kept in working condition is displayed in the Musee des Blindes in Saumur, France. In order to record the actual Maybach engine sound, Tamiya's staff crossed half of the planet to come to Saumur. Not only all stages of engine sound from idling through full throttle, but also all the metallic clanking of the tank tracks as well as the crank starting sound and the electric motor starting sound have been thoroughly recorded. Hearing the 700hp Maybach V12 engine sound when running your King Tiger will provide you with an even more striking feel of realism. Requires R6/AA/UM3 batteries x8

The Leopard 2A5 featured replaceable wedge shaped armor on the turret, improved PERI-R 17 panoramic Commander's sight with thermal vision, spall liner on the turret interior for protection against splinters, all-electric gun control and stabilization system for easy maintenance and reduced noise, GPS navigation system, electro-pneumatic driver's hatch and a CCD camera mounted on the rear of tank for high-speed reversing. The Leopard 2A6 featured improved firepower including a 55 caliber 120mm smoothbore main gun utilizing kinetic energy LKE II ammunition for higher muzzle speed and lethality. The 2A6 has been employed by the German 403 tank battalion since March 2001, and is scheduled to replace all German 2A5 tanks by 2006. The use of the 2A6 continues to spread throughout Europe with the Netherlands, Spain and Greece adopting the 2A6 for their main battle tank. With continued improvements the 2A6 continues to set new standards as the world's best MBT. Widely recognized as the best modern day Main Battle Tank (MBT), Tamiya introduces the latest German Leopard 2 tank, the Leopard 2 A6, to the 1/16 scale R/C tank series. This model comes with DMD Unit T-07 for real action movement, lighting and digital sound effects. In order to further enhance realism, sound effects such as engine start-up, shut down, acceleration, discharge etc. have been digitally recorded from the real tank. Tamiya's biggest R/C tank ever, it's just like driving the real thing! Evolved DMD unit The T-07 DMD unit provides the 1/16 R/C Leopard 2 A6 with more features than any other Tamiya R/C tank. The T-07 unit matches engine sound (which has been digitally recorded from a real MB873 -Ka501 turbo-charged diesel engine) with tank movements, and controls various lightning combinations activated easily with transmitter. Turret rotation, gun elevation and firing sounds also add to the realism of this model. T-07 unit and 7.2V battery are mounted in the turret for easy and quick accessibility. Synchronized light and sound effects A sound speaker unit is mounted at the center of the hull, and a xenon flash tube is used to make gun firing more convincing . When fired, main gun recoils and then goes back smoothly to its initial position thanks to a gearbox in the turret. Actions are coupled with sound effects digitally recorded from the actual tank. High mobility transmission The R/C Leopard is powered by 2 high-torque Type 540 motors. A specially designed gearbox allows smooth power transmission at both low and high speeds. This system accurately imitates the transmission of the actual tank. One motor controls forward/backward movement and the other motor allows the tank to turn and rotate. Suspension comes equipped with torsion bars that give this model high mobility. Smooth turret and gun movement In order to obtain smooth rotation, the turret ring has been equipped with 20 steel balls. The newly designed system for gun elevation and recoil effect features a servo for more realistic movements. While rotating turret with gun in lowered position, the gun automatically raises and goes back to its initial position to avoid the engine deck, like the actual tank. Seven lighting combinations The R/C leopard 2 A6 features various workable lights such as headlights, tail lamps, brake lights, black-out lights and rotating light. Model features 7 lighting combinations, 4 for tank during combat operations and 3 during non-combat operations. Main gun and axial machinegun also flash when fired. Metal parts for accuracy Kit includes die-cast sprockets and lathe-turned aluminum gun barrel. The double-pin tracks, which are equipped with pads made out of rubber like the actual tank, come pre-assembled. Tamiya 56045 1/16 Centurion... $1,467.95
A Solid Presence By the end of WWII, the British military was developing counters for the powerful German Tiger and Panther tanks among others, and one of the designs they chose was the Centurion. Fitted with the 17 pounder gun initially, its sloped armor and Horstmann suspension set it apart rather from its British predecessors. Although it was not in time to be deployed in WWII, it was quickly pressed into live action in the Korean War, which broke out in June 1950 - more precisely, its Mk.III model was pressed into action, a variant which was upgunned to significant effect with the 20 pounder. The Centurion Mk.III was a key presence, to the extent of its being often named as the most effective fielded in the United Nations force. A number of further variants were developed in later years, as the Centurion served various European militaries and even equivalents in India and Israel. This R/C tank recreates the Centurion in 1/16 scale as a radio control model. The Centurion Mk. III was developed as a heavy cruiser tank to counter the powerful German Army tanks during WWII. The Mk. III was perhaps the most polished Centurion variant, equipped with the L/66.7 20 pounder long barrel gun. The A7V has additional hull front armor to increase its survivability, with reinforced suspension. Its L/55 120mm gun can take on enemy armor up to five kilometers away. Other design evolutions include a sight device to amplify vision in poor visibility, new tracks and a new turret rear basket. 104 existing tanks are to be upgraded to A7V spec, and units began receiving them in September 2021. This large scale 1/16 radio control tank recreates the German Main Battle Tank Leopard 2 A7V. Thanks to extensive research of the actual tank, Tamiya’s designers have faithfully depicted the updated square headlights, front additional armor plate and updated turret rear shape. Features Just like the full-size tank, this model has all-wheel independent suspension with torsion bars for superior mobility. Suspension arms are die-cast for higher quality and reliability. Pre-assembled tracks have inserted rubber pads. The gun barrel is aluminum, and the chassis is ABS plastic. The new DMD T-12 control unit provides a gun barrel control system. Features volume adjustment using transmitter, which was not possible before. Gun barrel control system controls gun elevation and turret direction, keeping the gun trained in a single direction. Control Unit uses 4 channels to control forward/back movement, sharp and pivot turning at any speed as well as gun elevation, recoil and turrest rotation. DMD control unit and battery pack are installed inside the turret. The pin-attached upper turret allows easy replacement of battery pack. Also, the magnet-attached hatch at the turret rear allows quick access to power and setup switches. Requires 4-channel transmitter  Battery pack and charger  Batteries for transmitter This accurate model has a design based upon extensive research of the full-size vehicle. The L/55 120mm smoothbore gun has an elevation range of around 30 degrees. Orange and white LEDs are used to simulate main gun and 7.62mm machine gun fire respectively. 20 metal balls in the turret ring give smooth 360-degree motion. Rotate the turret with the gun depressed and it automatically rises to avoid the hull, returning to its original elevation when clear. LEDs are used to illuminate various lights across the model. Realistic textural recreations of the front armor and mud flaps. Equipment such as caged headlights and the driving support system sensor head are accurately recreated. A closer look at the turret-top MG3 and the covered EMES 15A2 main sight. Take a look at the commander's portable display and the PERI R17A3 panoramic sight on its round base. Photo-etched parts recreate the turret side basket surfaces. Circular engine grille mesh sections are also photo-etched parts. There is plenty of detail to admire at the rear: grousers, antenna case, spare track racks and the central driver system sensor. Tow cables are plastic parts. The plastic lower hull offers superb attention to detail. The suspension utilizes metal torsion bars. The additional mine protection on the front underside is also recreated. Plastic double-pin tracks are pre-assembled with integrated pads. Die-cast arms and drive sprockets give super durability. Bump stoppers have metal springs. The precision aluminum gun barrel removes the need for cleaning up of parting lines. Photo-etched parts recreate engine grille mesh, side basket surfaces, rear basket surfaces and more. The rear gearbox unit employs two type 540 motors. Power transmission mechanics follow those on a full-size tank: one motor controls forward/reveres, and the other control right and left track speed. The DMD T-12 control unit controls the motors and coordinates lights and sounds with actions. The speaker unit faithfully recreates sounds of the engine and various other actions in conjunction with model motion. The model battery pack is housed centrally in the turret: access it by releasing turret side armor and removing the top.

TAMIYA
Tamiya 56048 1/16 M4 Sherma... $1,174.95
The Sherman tank was a staple of the Allied effort in WWII, with a total of about 50,000 vehicles produced, among which were a host of different variants such as the M4 Sherman 105mm Howitzer, a variant used in fire support. The M4 hull featured rolled steel plates, and it employed a 9-cylinder air-cooled radial engine in the rear which powered the front sprockets via a 5-speed transmission with reverse; the 105mm gun fired howitzer rounds, smoke rounds and incendiary ammunition. The late production vehicle had horizontal vertical spring suspension (HVSS) and 840 units were produced, providing infantry support and taking part in assaults on enemy strongpoints from Europe to the Pacific Theater. Controlled Differential Steering System In WWII, the average tracked vehicle used a clutch brake system, whereby the sprocket on the turning side was braked to create a difference in speed between the tracks and let the vehicle turn. While it did enable pivot turns on the spot by completely stopping one track, it required considerable skill to operate, not to mention the fact that it experienced mechanical power loss and a tendency to overheat the brakes. On the other hand, the M4 Sherman used a controlled differential system that braked a sprocket wheel via a differential gear: as the turning side track slowed, the other track sped up, leading to smooth turns and in one fell swoop both minimizing mechanical loss and negating brake overheating issues. This system was also employed on the M24, the M8, and the M2 high speed tractor, vehicles which all contributed to the eventual success of the Allied WWII campaign. Features This is a 1/16 scale R/C model assembly kit. Just like the actual tank, the model uses a controlled differential steering system. Metal components are used for drive sprockets, suspension arms and idler wheel bases. The horizontal vertical spring suspension (HVSS) uses metal coil springs. Pre-assembled plastic tracks use metal pins and connectors. Mechanical Steering System A differential gear transfers power from the Type 540 motor. When the tracks rotate at the same speed the model moves in a straight line, turning as the track speeds differ: transmitter commands cause servo movement, which in turn slows the turning side track via one of the brake discs in the differential. A planetary gearbox in the differential unit speeds up the unbraked track. Requires 2-channel R/C system R6/AA/UM3 batteries for transmitter Battery pack & charger The compact, rather tall form of this Sherman was thanks to its use of a 9-cylinder radial engine. A close up on the turret and its realistic depiction of cast metal surfaces. The loader's hatch (turret left) is a moving part, and the commander's hatch on the cupola can be assembled open or closed. A commander figure in M1 helmet is included in the kit. The detailed M2 heavy machine gun even has a separately molded ammunition case.   Metal barrel and cover for the hull front machine gun are separate parts for even more realism. Plenty of accessories are on hand: shovel, jack, axe and more. They are separately molded parts. Lots more accessories are on show here, too: from K-ration boxes to ammunition cases and Jerry cans. Decals are used for markings on the cases. The upper hull is attached via this catch on the chassis. A duralumin frame gives the model excellent durability. The central battery is flanked on the right by the motor, and on the left by the servo. The steering system uses a planetary differential gear in a setup close to that of the full-size tank. Tough plastic tracks have metal pins and connectors and come pre-assembled. The drive sprockets are die-cast components. The operational HVSS suspension uses metal coil springs. The model is controlled in the same way as an R/C car.   Take control with a standard wheel and trigger type 2-channel R/C unit (sold separately).
