TAMIYA (2522)

This is a Tamiya model replica of the British Achilles tank destroyer. The Achilles was a modification of the M10s which Britain received from the U.S., with the original 3-inch main gun replaced by the fearsome British 17 pounder. The vast majority of M10s were the M10 IIC variant, which was based upon the late-production M10 with distinctive enlarged turret-rear counterweight. Around 1,000 were produced between Spring 1944 and the end of WWII, the Allied forces making good use of it after the Normandy landings, benefiting from the power of the gun which allowed it to tear through Tiger I front armor. Catch the Buzz! The Hummel was developed by German designers in short time, intended to provide a quick boost for troops that had begun to struggle in the aftermath of their invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. Its chassis was a hybrid using parts from the Pz.Kpfw.III and IV, and the gun was the powerful sFH18/1 15cm piece that fired 43.5kg howitzer rounds distances up to and over 13 kilometers. Hummels joined the fray from 1943 in the showdown Battle of Kursk, and served through the second half of WWII. This TAMIYA model recreates the German WWII self-propelled gun Howitzer Hummel (Late Production). Its name translates to “bumblebee”. The Hummel was designed to fulfil demand for mobile artillery support for German tank units. Based upon the Geschützwagen III/IV (also used on the Nashorn), it sported an L/30 15cm howitzer and open top fighting compartment. Hummels were designed in 1942 and debuted on the Eastern Front in 1943; they were also seen in North-West Europe and Italy in the latter half of WWII. This highly detailed model artfully captures the form of the powerful Hummel, with its 15cm gun and open top fighting compartment. Three highly realistic figures are depicted in the act of loading shells. They are accompanied by a wealth of accessories in the kit. A closer-up look at the figures shows their M43 uniform and field caps. Howitzer shells have their stencils recreated via decals. There is plenty to look at in the fighting compartment, not least the gun breech and its sight, which moves in concert with the barrel. The massive gun moves smoothly thanks to poly caps and metal shaft components, and holds it place well when you have it at the desired angle. This close-up gives a look at the late production tracks, which have single-piece straight sections for an accurate, fuss-free finish. The integrated driving compartment is a late production Hummel-specific feature. Accessories such as spare track and travel lock add detail. A Borrowed Design After the effective annexation of Czechoslovakia by Nazi Germany in 1939, German forces were interested enough in the native Czech LTvz38 light tank that they took it on and ordered production under their own categorization of 38(t), a light tank with riveted, welded armor and a perky 3.7cm gun. Early production 38(t)s took part in the early German offensives of the war, and the 38(t) underwent continued development with 1,400 produced in total. Ausf.E and F 38(t)s had additional armor across the vehicle for better survivability and were deployed during the early stages of Operation Barbarossa as Nazi Germany once again invaded a neighbor, this time the Soviet Union. Features This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 132mm, width: 62mm. The 38(t) form with riveted armour plate is accurately depicted. Parts are included to recreate fender-top stowage boxes that were often added by units on the front line. Assembly type tracks feature single-piece straight sections for fine reproduction of upper run 'sag.' Engine grille mesh is rendered faithfully using a photo-etched component. Comes with a commander figure for installation in the hatch, and two Eastern Front marking options. This kit faithfully captures the form of the compact 38(t), specifically the Ausf.E/F variants used around the time of Operation Barbarossa. This historical model assembly kit depicts the German Tank Destroyer Marder I. The Marder I was one of the early German efforts to update a military that – despite crushing early successes against Poland and the Allied early in WWII – was in sore need of mechanization. Based upon the French Lorraine supply tractor, it was one of a number of commandeered vehicles pressed into German service. Around 170 were produced from May 1942, and their 7.5cm Pak40 anti-tank gun was a threat to Allied AFVs in France post-Normandy landings, and also on the Eastern Front and even North Africa. German Infantry Set In the middle years of WWII, most German Wehrmacht soldiers were issued with M36 uniform that was field gray with green collar, although some had the M40 with collar also in field gray. The uniform was rounded off with a helmet or cap, jack boots and - in many cases - suspenders for the trousers. Accessories such as pouches, canteen, shovel and more were usually carried, while weaponry depended upon one's rank: enlisted men would have the Kar98k rifle or MG34 machine gun, whereas non-commissioned officers wielded the MP40 submachine gun. Officers and machine gunners would frequently carry a pistol for self-defense. Tamiya's French tank model kits have become well known for their unique subject matter and superb historical accuracy. This kit recreates the R35. It was originally designed as a successor to the late-WWI Renault FT, and inherited its 37mm gun, paired with a cast turret and three-piece bolted cast hull. Around 1,500 were manufactured after its official adoption in 1935; they were one of the main pillars of the French attempt to resist the German onslaught during the Fall of France in May/June 1940. This historical model assembly kit depicts the German Pz.Kpfw.IV. It was a stalwart of the WWII effort, serving from start to finish of the conflict. Manufacture began in 1936 with the Ausf.A, and went through a number of specifications before what was perhaps the definitive short barreled variant started production in 1941: the Ausf. F. It had reinforced armour and updated hull designs, as well as an L/24 75mm gun. 470 Ausf.F Pz.Kpfw.IVs were manufactured between May 1941 and February 1942, mainly seeing action on the Eastern Front and in North Africa and taking on enemy armor such as the Soviet KV tanks and the British Matilda. The KV-1's Bigger Brother In December 1939 the KV-1 was officially adopted by the Soviet military; it was followed by the KV-2, a heavier design based upon the KV-1 chassis, but upgunned to a 152mm howitzer with the intention of breaking enemy strongholds; in order to accomodate the larger gun, the KV-2 was given a remarkably tall turret. Around two hundred were produced, and supply to the military began in July 1940. The following June, Nazi Germany invaded and the KV-2 - while suffering a number of breakdowns - took part in Soviet resistance against the invaders, their 152mm guns and impressive survivability enabling some amazing feats, helping stem the tide. During World War II, the M18 Hellcat was a tank destroyer developed by the United States Army to compete with powerful German tanks such as the Tiger and Panther. Equipped with a high-powered 76mm tank gun on an open-top turret that emphasizes search power. To secure space inside the turret, the main gun loading section was laid out with the barrel rotated 45 degrees. In addition, the compact body has been pursued to be lighter, and an automatic transmission and the first torsion bar suspension for American tanks have been introduced. The star-shaped 9-cylinder gasoline engine mounted on the rear of the car body demonstrated a maximum speed of over 80km / h, making it the fastest tracked vehicle in World War II. Production of the Hellcat began in July 1943, welcoming its first line on the Italian front in 1944. After that, he was dispatched to the Northwestern Europe and the Pacific front, and defeated German tanks one after another with hit and away tactics that utilized high-speed performance and firepower. It contributed to the victory of the US military as a pioneer in anti-tank combat. Features M18 Hellcat 1/35 scale, plastic model assembly kit. Overall length 192 mm, overall width 80 mm. Based on actual vehicle coverage, the height-reduced body is equipped with a powerful 76mm tank gun, and the fearless style is reproduced with a rich sense of reality. The texture of the canvas cover attached to the mantlet is also realistically expressed. The headlight lens is a clear part. For complicated suspension, parts are integrated to make it easier to assemble. The single pin type track is a connection type with a straight part integrated. A full-body image of a standing tank soldier and two types of markings for vehicles deployed on the Italian front at the end of World War II are set.

Tamiya 1/35 German Tank Panzer IV Ausf.G (Early Production) - New Variation with Long-barreled Gun! This addition to our legendary 1/35 Military Miniature Series depicts the Ausf.G variant of the long-serving Pz.Kpfw.IV. Ausf.G tanks were equipped with long-barreled KwK 40 L/43 guns after fighting with Soviet armor demonstrated the obsolescence of the Wehrmacht’s short-barreled weapons. In-depth research at the German Tank Museum in Munster contributed to this highly accurate kit. Includes three figures with rolled up sleeves and one figure with standard clothes. An Elite Team From the second half of 1944, the M1943 field jacket replaced the M1941, which had been used through most of the early U.S. involvement in WWII; simultaneously, double buckle boots were also introduced. A soldier would typically carry a canteen, ammunition pouch, scope, poncho and more, with the average infantry equipped with a firearm such as the M1 Garand, BAR M1918A2 or a M1A1 sub-machine gun. Officers wielded an M1 carbine. Scout teams would carry a handy talkie radio. This set recreats an infantry scout team of five, which will make a superb project by itself, and can of course be used in a diorama or vignette. Features This is a 1/35 scale figure assembly kit. Parts recreate soldiers from the second half of 1944, wearing the M1943 field jacket: a commanding officer with M1 carbine surveys the scene, two standing soldiers have an M1 Garand and BAR respectively, a further soldier kneels with the stock of his M1 on the ground, and one soldier is pictured with the handy talkie. Comes with a wide range of crisply molded small arms. Decals are included for recreation of various rank insignia. This set creates a late-WWII scout team in great detail. Since the first units were acquired in 2016, the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF)'s Type 16 has seen deployment across the Japanese archipelago. This eight-wheeled vehicle is capable of an impressive 100km/h and sports a rifled 105mm gun offering superior accuracy, and is intended to serve in the JGSDF's rapid deployment units. Feedback from units operating the Type 16 has been incorporated in its continuous evolution, in the case of C5 vehicles (those purchased in the 2020 fiscal year budget) resulting in a turret-rear air conditioning unit (carried over from the C4 design). Some C5 Type 16s were even given winches to aid in recovery of knocked-out vehicles on the field. Features This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length; 248mm, width: 85mm. This model kit recreates the German Tank Panzerkampfwagen I Ausf.B. Although Germany had been forbidden to develop tanks after the defeat of WWI, it developed the Panzerkampfwagen I under the name of "agricultural tractor" to deflect suspicions of rearmament, and the Pz.Kpfw.I became a mass- produced tank. The engine on the Ausf.B was upgraded to 100hp, nearly double the 57hp of the Ausf.A. Also, it had a 40cm longer hull, and a pair of 7.92mm MG13 machine guns were equipped. While the Pz.Kpfw.I was developed for training, it first saw live action in Spain during the Spanish Civil War and was widely used in various situations such as the invasion of Poland and the Eastern Front.
