Under these circumstances, the 75mm anti-tank gun appeared with great expectations. Its performance was outstanding: it could penetrate 130 mm armor plate at a distance of 1,000 m using armor-piercing rounds and could fire 14 rounds per minute. focused on this high performance, the Marder II anti-tank self-propelled gun was built: an open-top fighting compartment configured on the body of the No. II tank, with a 75 mm gun mounted in it.
