Hornby R30506 OO BR Class 10 10119 'Margaret Ethel-Thomas Alfred Naylor' Diesel Locomotive
HORNBY
Hornby R30506 OO BR Class 1... $ PRICE IN PROGRESS!
This BR Class 10 is a stunning example of a non-standard locomotive, beautifully displayed in OO gauge model form. With sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings, this blue diesel locomotive is a highly detailled design for your model railway collection. The BR Class 10 was a variation on the standard BR Class 08 shunter, fitted with Blackstone engines and GEC traction motors. Built at Darlington and Doncaster, 146 were produced between 1955 and 1962, but due to their non-standard nature, they were withdrawn early, between February 1967 and June 1972. Built as D4067 in 1961 at Darlington, this locomotive initially worked at Darnall, Sheffield, followed by Langwith Junction and Shirebrook. Withdrawn in 1970, it was sold to the NCB and used at Betteshanger Colliery in Kent. It moved to Loughborough in 1980 for preservation and has been numbered 10119 and named after the owner’s parents. Add the Class 08 'Colchester TMD' model locomotive to your diesel collection in this elegant blue livery. With sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings, this is a delightful, highly detailed model. Built at Crewe Works, this standard 350hp diesel electric shunter started life in November 1959 as D3760 and was allocated to Dannycraig depot at Swansea in South Wales. Under TOPS it was renumbered to 08593 and, in the 1990s, it was reallocated to Colchester where it received a retro-style red-lined BR livery with early ‘cycling lion’ emblem and its old number D3760. It was also named ‘Colchester TMD’ which was applied in a cursive hand-writing style. It became part of the EWS fleet and, by 2010, it was withdrawn and then stored. It was acquired by Railway Support Services at Wishaw in 2016. A lovely addition to any OO gauge layout, this BR Class 61XX Large Prairie Locomotive is gorgeous in green. With sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings, this is a deligtful, highly detailed steam locomotive. The ‘61XX’ Class was a direct development of the earlier ‘5101’ Class by Charles Collett, with a total of 70 locomotives turned out at Swindon Works between 1931 and 1935. The main difference was an increase in boiler pressure, which was raised to 225psi and gave a consequent increase in tractive effort. No. 6126 entered service in October 1931 and spent much of its career based along the main Paddington to Bristol line, with postings at Slough, Southall, Reading, and Didcot. Its last shed was Oxford from May 1964, where it was withdrawn in December 1965 and sent for scrapping at Cashmore’s in Newport. Our highly detailed Large Prairie Locomotives feature sprung metal buffers and NEM tension lock couplings for smooth running and effortless rake creation. This Class 5101 model sports a lovely green livery and is a delightful addition to any steam collection. Designed for suburban and local passenger services, 140 of these large ‘Prairies’ were built at Swindon between 1929 and 1949. These locomotives were a development of Churchward’s 1903 ‘31XX/51XX’ Class overseen by GWR Chief Mechanical Engineer, Charles Collett. New to Chester West shed, 5153 entered service in March 1930 and enjoyed a career that lasted almost 35 years. After moving to Newton Abbot in the 1940s, it had a spell at Kidderminster before reaching Leamington in 1964, which was its final shed, withdrawal coming just three months later. It was scrapped in June 1965. For the first time, Stephenson's Rocket is presented as a solo locomotive, with a sleek yellow livery, fixed metal buffers and chain couplings. This highly detailed, diminuitive locomotive model is a must-have model for steam collectors, due to its historical importance and incredible model engineering. This historically important locomotive was built in 1929 to participate in the Rainhill Trials, a competition set-up by the promoters of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway to find suitable motive power for its opening the following year. Built to the order of his father George (who was the L&MR’s principal engineer at the time), ‘Rocket’ was designed by Robert Stephenson and built at his Forth Street Works in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The design was the most advanced in its day and ‘Rocket’ won the Trials. The locomotive then became one of four that took part in the L&MR’s opening parade in September 1930. Display the bold logo of Glenochil Yeast Factory on this 88DS model locomotive. This diesel features NEM tension lock couplings and a lovely green livery. The 80/88hp Ruston & Hornsby 4wDM was a reliable machine and ideal for the modest demands of smaller industrial concerns. Several found use in Scotland shunting rail-connected whisky distillery yards – in this case the yeast factory alongside the distillery of the same name, located just south of Menstrie in Clackmannanshire, where sidings connected with the Cambus-Alva branch line. Works No. 245030 was built in 1947 and worked the factory yard until 1969, when it was sold to William Kerr Ltd in Stirling. It moved to Babcock & Wilcox Ltd., boiler makers in Renfrew, in 1971, where it remained until about 1978, then presumably scrapped. Built as the replacement for ‘Princess Royal’ Class 4-6-2 46202 ‘Princess Anne’, which was destroyed in the Harrow and Wealdstone rail disaster of 1952, the Riddles-designed ‘Pacific’ was intended as the first of a new batch of modern locomotives that would serve BR for many years to come. Completed at Crewe in 1954, plans to build more were turned down by the Railway Executive because the design was too expensive and complex. As a result, ‘Duke of Gloucester’ remained unique, with its three-cylinder configuration and Caprotti rotary cam-driven valve gear. It had an operational life of just eight years, being withdrawn in 1962. One of its cylinders was saved for display in the National Railway Museum, while the other was removed to balance the locomotive before going for scrap in South Wales. It was, however, saved in 1974 and a restoration lasting 13 years ensued, including building new cylinders from scratch. When it returned to steam it became a regular on the main line and during 2025 returned from its latest overhaul, once again hauling steam specials to the delight of enthusiasts. In 2000, a new 66/6 sub-class was created with a lower gear ratio version enabling heavier trains to be hauled, albeit at slower speeds. A total of 25 were put into service by Freightliner, numbered 66601-625 and some of these have since moved overseas for use with Freightliner Poland. Used mainly on oil, aggregate, and cement trains, 66601 is one of 22 still operating in the UK and, on 18th March 2025, was turned out at Eastleigh Works in a new green ‘Freightliner 60’ livery. We've faithfully recreated this locomotive in RailRoad model form, keeping plenty of detail but incorporating more durable features, making it ideal for a busy model railway layout. Plus, this locomotive model has been pre-fitted with a DCC sound chip for the most authentic experience.
