The North American F-86F Sabre fighter was one of the most extensively produced aircraft in America and spread to many other countries. Prototype XP-86 made its maiden flight on 1st October 1947. The Sabre was considered in its country of origin as “one of the all-time bests”. The E-3B Awacs (Airborne Warning and Control System) is an aircraft designed to detect low-flying enemy planes, which are difficult to distinguish from natural features on the ground. Its airframe is a civilian 707-320B which has been equipped with a rotating radome containing radar antennas and a friend enemy identification system. The E-3 Awacs is a command, control and communications center endowed with high survival capacity and able to overcome intense jamming. It was 1939, at the request of TWA, that the Constellation project was launched. This company wanted a 40-seater air-liner. The prototype took off on its maiden flight on the 9th January 1943 but, because of the war, the Constellation began its career under a military denomination - that of C-69 - and it equipped the AIR TRANSPORT COMMAND of the US Air Force. After the war, the two first civilian clients were TWA and Pan American. The latter company was the first to fly the Constellation on the New-York-Bermuda route. T.W.A., for its part, inaugurated on February 6, 1947 the first link between the United States and Europe. The prototype of the Mirage III E made its test flights on the 5th April 1961. It is a ground attack and tactical support version. The Mirage III R is a reconnaissance version and its nose cone is equipped with five cameras. The Mirage 5, especially designed for export, is an extremely simplified version of the Mirage III E. France and Great-Britain simultaneously started basic studies on a supersonic aircraft in 1956. These studies led in 1961 to two distinct projects which were combined on November 29, 1962, into a single project which assembled for main companies: Aérospatiale, BAC, Rolls-Royce and SNECMA. The first prototype 001 left the Toulouse hangar on the 11 December 1967. Concorde had already smashed altitude records (21,000 m) and speed (Mach 2.2). In 1950, the Boeing company began to study a four-engine aircraft with both civilian and military applications. On 14 May 1954, the Boeing factory in Renton produced a 367-80 which made its first flight on 15 July. This prototype will be used for the joint development of the KC-135 in-flight refuelling aircraft and the well-known Boeing 707 civil aircraft. On 15 October, Pan American ordered its first six jets, Boeing 707-121s. Subsequently, the Boeing 707 was developed in parallel with the different military C 135 and 137 versions, to give the 200 series, then the 300 series, which are very different. Built in nearly 1000 units, the Boeing 707 embodies the beginnings of contemporary air transport. Solid and reliable, this aircraft was very popular with both its crews and passengers. They were normally designed to accommodate 134 passengers in two classes. Air France‘s Boeing 707s have been named after castles. The „Château de Vincennes“ was the second of the 29 ordered by the French national airline. The Boeing 747 is a wide-body, long-range, passenger aircraft manufactured by the Boeing Company commonly known as the Jumbo Jet. The first Boeing 747 was flown on February 9, 1969, and production ended on December 6, 2022. The last machine in the 747-8F cargo version with the registration number N863GT was ceremonially handed over to Atlas Air on January 31, 2023. A total of 1,574 were produced in multiple versions. As ships and oil platforms grew in size in the 1970s, tugs had to be developed to support them. With an output of 22,000 hp, the tugs SMIT ROTTERDAM and SMIT LONDON, „sister ships“, were built in 1975 by the shipyard „De Merwede“ in Hardinxveld-Giessendam (Netherlands). For a long time, these two ocean-going tugs were the largest and most powerful in the world. They were specially developed to pull very heavy elements such as offshore platforms over long distances and in all weather conditions and to support ships in need. No matter in which ocean. Alongside the Pinta and the Santa Maria, the Nina was part of the fleet which Christopher Columbus thought would take him to India. In fact, he wound up discovering the new world (America). Flying Cloud was a clipper ship that set the world's sailing record for the fastest passage between New York and San Francisco, 89 days 8 hours. The ship held this record for over 130 years, from 1854 to 1989. Flying Cloud was the most famous of the clippers built by Donald McKay. Christoph Columbus, an Italian navigator living in Portugal, was fascinated by geography and wanted to open a new route to India by sailing westward. After the kings of Portugal, England and France had all refused to back his plan, Colombus turned to the Spanish monarchs, who appointed him admiral of an expedition comprising three caravels the NIÑA, the PINTA and the SANTA MARIA. After a voyage lasting more than month, Colombus discovered the Bahamas on October 12, 1492.

Developed from the L-749, the L-1049 Super Constellation first appeared in 1950. The transformation undergone by the L-749 was the longest extension ever made to a propeller airliner. The insertion of fuselage sections increased the length by 5,59 m. Other important modifications were the complete reinforcement of the airframe and the fitting of rectangular portholes, the increase of tank capacity and the installation of new engines. The first L-1049 was put in service on December 15th, 1951 by Eastern. TWA and Eastern Air Lines had the largest fleets of "Super Connie“ aircraft.

The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was the Luftwaffe‘s first real fighter-bomber. Thanks to its versatility owing to a modular construction, it gave birth to a large number of derivative models that enabled it to replace the Junkers Ju 87 (Stuka) as a support plane for troops on the ground, and the Messerschmitt Bf 110 as a fighter to combat the bombers. The Curtiss P-40 E is the successor to the Hawk 81 A, better known as the Tomahawk. It first took flight on 22nd May 1941 under the designation of Hawk 87 A. An order for 540 was made by Great Britain, who called it the Kittyhawk 1A, and other Commonwealth countries. A second order was made for 1500 planes for the US Army Air Force that used it under the name of Curtiss P-40 E who then sold them back to Great Britain in virtue of the land-lease agreement.
