In May 2017 it was decided to give the Bundeswehr Leopard 2 tank an upgrade in the form of the Leopard 2 A7V; building upon the A7 variant, the A7V has additional hull front armor to increase its survivability, with new running gear to compensate for the extra weight. Its L/55 120mm gun is a carryover from the A6 variant which - when using the latest ammunition - can take on enemy armor up to five kilometres away. Other design evolutions include a sight device to amplify vision in poor visibility, new tracks and a new turret rear basket. 104 existing tanks are to be upgraded to A7V spec, and units began receiving them in September 2021. Features This is a 1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 320mm, width: 110mm.  The powerful form of the Leopard 2 A7V with additional front armor plate is faithfully captured, based upon extensive research of the actual tank.  Mud flaps are depicted on the turret rear sides, as they are in combat situation.  Tracks are snap together assembly type.  Photo-etched parts are used to recreate engine grille mesh and turret-side basket sections.  The kit comes with commander and loader torso figures; choose their headwear. 3 marking options are included. The complex, highly modern form of the Leopard 2 A7V is recreated in detail, without the assembly process becoming overly complex. The model depicts the tank with rear panel mud flaps folded up and stowed on the turret rear sides, as it appears in combat. Plenty of detail abounds across the turret and hull. At the rear, there are depictions of the spare track link racks, sensor head and more. Separately molded tow cables offer a fuss-free paint job. Choose whether you give the commander and loader figures helmets or berets. Decals for national marks and different rank insignia are provided. Photo-etched parts for the turret side baskets give a crisp finish. At the turret rear are the climate control unit, NBC system and various stowage cases. The creases and folds of the waterproof sheet are masterfully molded. Take a closer look at the front with its additional armor, angular headlights and guards, sensor head, fender-front hooks and more. The driver's hatch is a moving recreation, sliding left and right as on the full-size tank. Photo-etched engine grille mesh parts add further detail. Engine deck caution notices are decals. The mine defense module under the front of the hull is accurately depicted. Tracks are split into upper and lower halves. Curve sections are assembled link by link.

The Yorktown's Faithful Protector The USS Hammann (DD412) was commissioned in August 1939, the fourth ship in the 1,500-ton Sims class of destroyers. Her hull had a raised sheer strake to protect from higher waves, while the use of a single funnel allowed a large area at the stern for her impressive ordnance. She was equipped with four 12.7cm guns, four single 12.7mm machine guns and eight torpedo tubes. After rescuing survivors of the stricken aircraft carrier USS Lexington in the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942, the Hammann screened another aircraft carrier, the USS Yorktown, in the Battle of Midway in June of that year. While attempting to salvage the Yorktown, which had been badly damaged by Japanese aircraft, she was torpedoed by the Japanese submarine I-168, and swiftly sank. She received two battle stars for her service in two major naval battles of WWII. Features 1/700 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 151mm.
