Tamiya 35372 1/35 KV-1 Russ...
$75.95
A Weighty Adversary
The Soviet KV-1 was officially adopted in 1939 and went through a number of variants. Model 1941 KV-1s employed the 76.2mm ZIS-5 gun, which could tear through the armor on contemporary German tanks; its early production variants had a welded turret with armor up to 75mm thick, and hung tough in fierce fighting with German armor following the Nazi German invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, contributing to the Soviet resistance that would eventually turn the tables and push back the German advance.
Soldiers were modelers, too?
It is said that German front line troops were provided with wooden and paper models of the KV-1 in a scale of around 1/20, to help identify the tanks and formulate counter-strategies. This kit includes a version in miniature 1/35 scale on the painting guide to cut out and use in dioramas of tactical meetings and the like.
The bulky KV-1, which helped in the Soviet defense against the feared Wehrmacht war machine, is captured in detailed 1/35.
The latest 3D modeling techniques were used to ensure a highly detailed finish with rough cast textures and weld lines.
A commander torso figure is included, depicted in uniform typical of the 1941-2 years. Goggles use clear components.
The model's wide tracks have realistic depiction of upper run 'sag.' Early production road wheels are recreated.
A separate part is used to capture the driving compartment applique armor. Lenses on the lights are clear parts.
Hatches and fender-top stowage cases can be assembled open or closed, making this model adaptable to any scene you can imagine.
Length: 198mm.
This model kit recreates a WWII Soviet subject. Its considered an important design in the history of armor, as it was developed concurrently with the T-34 medium tank. Armed with a powerful 76.2mm ZIS-5 gun and continually updated to improve its survivability, it served through to the end of WWII.
Features
1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit.
Early 1941 model is depicted.
Completely new design, with no parts brought over from previous kits.
Early 1941 features such as welded turret and early production road wheels are accurately rendered.

$225.95
Back from the Brink
The P-51D Mustang is viewed by many as one of the most successful aircraft of WWII, but this unique design with laminar flow wing still had plenty to offer after that conflict had ended. In 1950, by now having been re-named the F-51D when the U.S. Air Force was separated from the Army in 1947, it was called into action in the Korean War; airfields on the Korean peninsula were ill-suited to jet aircraft and the F-51D still had the necessary range and ordnance to roll back the years and do the job as a front line fighter.
Considered by many the most capable WWII fighters, the Mustang was also active in the Korean War, and this model creates one such F-51D. Renamed from the P-51D to the F-51D to go along with the creation of the US Air Force, the Mustang seemed set for gradual retirement as the jet aircraft took center stage. With the outbreak of hostilities on the Korean peninsula, however, that all changed. United Nations forces were hard pushed in the early stages of the war, and USAF P-80s were unable to land in areas where there were frequently no proper runways. The F-51D stepped in and performed admirably in a ground attack role as the United Nations forces pushed back.

Tamiya 14136 1/12 Kawasaki ...
$63.95
Beast on the Streets
2014 was a vintage year for fans of Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki as it saw the announcement of the Ninja H2 at the Milan Motorcycle Shows (EICMA), a bike whose name can be traced back to 1971 and the popular 750-SS/Mach IV (H2) street bike. In the modern H2, Kawasaki designers strove to provide hitherto unexperienced acceleration, and they certainly pulled out all the stops with a powerful combination of a 998cc inline-4 engine and centrifugal supercharger, mounted in an elegant trellis frame and providing an impressive 200hp. The body is also a work of aerodynamic art, with an upper cowl featuring ram air intakes and bottom chin spoiler plus a stylish single headlight. Mirrors have a cut-off design to ensure they contribute aerodynamically, and plenty of electronic rider aids are also on offer. The special Carbon spec of the Ninja H2 released in 2017 had carbon fiber upper cowl, an enhanced 205hp engine and many other upgrades.

This is a 1/12 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 174mm, width: 76mm, height: 96mm.

Screw-attached upper and side cowls can be removed from the frame after completion. The model in this image is without fuel tank.
Decals are included in the kit for the recreation of the carbon fiber upper cowl which is referred to in the bike's Carbon designation.
The light on the angular tail section is recreated with a combination of clear and metal-plated parts. Muffler and exhaust are also plated.
Separate parts are included in the kit to recreate the duct that connects the ram air intakes at the front to the supercharger further back.
The trellis frame is a lesson in elegant design, and is recreated in style here. The airbox atop the engine is also rendered realistically.
This close-up on the rider's position shows the metal transfer mirror surfaces, and instrumentation depicted using accurate decals.
Synthetic rubber tires have realistic tread patterns to add an extra layer of detail. A maintenance stand is also included in the kit.

Modifications included removing third seat, adding twin-mounted 20mm guns behind cockpit canopy angled up at 30 degrees and underneath fuselage angled down at 30 degrees. The Gekko proved successful against B-17 and B-24 bombers, and continued to fight until the end of WWII. In March 1943, she became flagship of Admiral Raymond Spruance, Commander Fifth Fleet which consisted of Task Force 58 plus 130,000 marines and army troops. Leading the giant fleet, she participated in most of the major Central Pacific campaigns. In March 1945, she was severely damaged and returned to Mare Island for repairs. During the two-month period of repairs, her equipment was renewed and much improved with the latest radar, electronic gun sights and new Curtiss Seahawks. After the repairs, she loaded secret cargo and personnel at San Francisco, and sailed for Tinian Island on July 16, where a B29 bomber base was located, and arrived there to unload the cargo and personnel on July 26. From the severity of the Cold War Era arms race, Russia came to emerge as the world's second largest naval power. Meant to oppose the Aircraft Carriers of the powerful U.S. Navy, the Russian Navy created a new type of Guided-Missile Nuclear Submarine known as the Oscar class. Massive Oscar-I Class submarines were first employed in 1982. Later, the Oscar-I submarine would evolve into the even larger Oscar-II Class, with an awesome displacement tonnage of 18,300 tons and total length of 154 meters. Despite their gargantuan size, Oscar-II Class submarines were capable of high-maneuverability and silenced movement. In January 1995 the 10th submarine of the Oscar-II series, the K.141 Kursk, went into commission with Russia's Northern Fleet and was assigned to defend the country's northern borders. Like other Oscar-II Class nuclear submarines the Kursk had two-layer construction consisting of an 8.5 diameter pressure-resistant inner hull as well as an external hull. The approximately 3.5-meter space between these two hull layers housed twelve 550km-range SS-N-19 anti-ship cruise missile launch tubes on each side. To accommodate these missile launchers the 154m-long Kursk was built extra-wide, and this behemoth of a nuclear submarine became known for its total girth of 18.2 meters. The Kursk sank five years later on August 12th, 2000. This incident would mark the most tragic episode in all of Russian submarine history. At 11:30 am, 140km off the naval port of Severomorsk (Northern Fleet Headquarters), an explosion of unknown cause sent the Kursk 100m underwater to the bottom of the Barents Sea. Despite efforts of the Russian Navy, as well as British and Norwegian rescue crews, the 118 men on-board, including the captain, could not be saved.
