The 1978 Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo was developed by West Germany’s Zakspeed team for the DRM. With a lightweight 790 kg, wide-body aerodynamic design, it was powered by a 1,427 cc turbocharged inline-four producing 375 hp. The Capri Turbo claimed its first victory at the Nürburgring in 1978 and went on to secure wins and podiums in the 1979 season, becoming one of the most iconic Silhouette Formula race cars in DRM history. This R/C model assembly kit recreates the 1978 Ford Zakspeed Capri Turbo from the 1978 DRM (German Racing Championship), a series which was a part of the immensely popular Group 5 racing scene in the 1970s and 1980s. The car - developed for the DRM by West German racing team Zakspeed – has its wide and low form depicted by a polycarbonate body, with stickers included to recreate color sections in the livery and various sponsor logos. Side mirrors are composed of two parts, with a sticker for the mirror surface. Stickers recreate logos, rear combination lamps and more. The rear spoiler and wing are screwed onto one another, and attached to the body with double-sided tape and screws. Mesh design wheels are a 2-piece recreation, and paired with slick tires. The rear wheels are also a 2-piece design. Wheels and tires are 6mm wider at the back. Resin ball links in the steering linkage joints make for smooth, comfortable motion. Wheel hubs are shaped to look like brake discs. Mini Coopers have been automotive fan favorite machines for decades! This 1/10 scale radio control model kit recreates the version of the Mini Cooper built by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) as it existed between 1959 until the year 2000. Original Minis were built for four decades without model changes. It had a front-wheel drive layout which was rare at that time, and it featured compact mechanics and maximum interior space. With its design featuring the necessary bare minimum features, it helped contribute to this car’s iconic status. The recreated R/C version comes on the MB-01 chassis in the short wheelbase and front motor / front wheel drive (FF) configuration layout. About 5.3 million units of the Mini were produced from 1959 until 2000 - remarkably without major model changes - and this legendary little car even achieved second place in the Car of the Century award for the best cars of the 20th century. Its front-wheel drive layout was rare for its time, and it featured ergonomic body structure with compact mechanics and maximum interior space, as well as frisky performance. In 1961, the sporty Mini Cooper joined the line-up and with great racing success, the car gained even greater popularity around the world.
