Then, apply them over the base paints into areas where you want a brighter colour. Layer – Step 2 If you want to pick out details and make them pop then succssive applications of Layer paints, working from darker to brighter, will let you highlight areas so they stand out.

Aqueous Hobby Color is a paint line newly reformulated in 2020 and aimed to be a safer paint with a higher degree of user friendliness. Aqueous Hobby Color paint is water based, which means you will never run out of thinner/reducer – you can use regular water. Tool cleanup is also easier as you can use water. Aqueous Hobby Color paint does contain a mild solvent in it which helps a lot with the adhesion. Leveling capabilities of this paint are high, it provides a glossy finish with a light texture, creating an excellent paint finish.Gloss levels of the Aqueous paint can be adjusted using additives H-40 Flat Base can be mixed with any color and make the paint semi-gloss or even matte/flat. Mix ratio between 5% and 10% is recommended. Mr. Aqueous Hobby Colors are ready for a regular brush application. They are also airbrush friendly; however, it is recommended to reduce it before use with an airbrush. As we mentioned earlier, regular water can be used as a reducer, but for the best result we recommend using Mr. Aqueous Hobby Color Thinner (T-110 or T-111). Up to 150% of the reducer can be added to Aqueous paint for airbrush use. When spraying paints with an airbrush, 2-3 coats are recommended. For regular brush use 1-2 coats is enough. If painting a light color over a darker base surface, more layers of paint may be required.

Matt acrylic colors, water-based and especially formulated for airbrushing. The Model Air color range contains the most complete selection of the military colors used in recent history, including the colors of WWI, WWII and up to the present. Each color is based on extensive research by our experts of the existing and previous military references so as to offer the modeler the highest possible historical accuracy. Model Air is used directly or diluted with Vallejo Airbrush Thinner or Flow Improver. It is recommended to first prime the surface, and then apply Model Air in several layers. The colors dry very rapidly and form a homogenous paint film of extraordinary resistance while preserving even the smallest detail of the model. For airbrushing these colors, the compressor air pressure is recommended at 15 – 20 PSI or 0.5 to 1 kg. Model Air can of course also be applied with a brush. For correct airbrush maintenance we recommend using the Vallejo Airbrush Cleaner. Aqueous Hobby Color is a very safe paint which has a high degree of user friendliness. Aqueous Hobby Color paint can be diluted with water if desired, while paint brushes can be cleaned and washed out in water. Ensuring that this is before the paint is dry. The solvent contained in Aqueous Hobby Color paint is very mild. It provides a glossy texture and very good levelling qualities (i.e. the smoothness of coated film of paint), resulting in a very good level of painted finish. In particular, the gloss level achieved with the use of Aqueous Hobby Color gloss paints is excellent. Gloss levels obtained using gloss coat Aqueous Hobby Colors can be adjusted by using H-40 Flat Base - mix approximately 5% of H-40 Flat Base to convert gloss colors to a matt finish, or 5 to 10% for a semi gloss finish. The percentage of Flat Base used can be adjusted to vary the amount of gloss level obtained. It is not necessary to dilute Aqueous Hobby Color for brush painting as a basic rule, but if using an airbrush to spray Aqueous Hobby Color, dilute the paint with 100 to 150% Aqueous Hobby Color Thinner (T-110 or T-111). When brush painting, generally 1 to 2 coats are recommended, and 2 to 3 coats when using an air brush. If painting a light color over a darker base surface, more coats of paint may be required.

Specially designed for modelers, these waxes can be applied by brush, with the fingertip, with a cotton swab or ever with airbrush diluted with our Thinner and getting a fine surface. Once dried, it can be polished to achieve a metallic finish. Recommended to prime first and can be varnish with acrylic too. This is a wax base so It is recommended allow 48h to be completely dry.

It heightens the flexibility of the colors, and their adhesion to the surface. Does not yellow or change tonality of the color. Can also be used as a binder for dry pigment.
