Hasegawa 1455AU 1/72 P-51D ... $25.95
The North American P-51 Mustang is an American, single-engine, long-range fighter and attack aircraft with a classic tail and all-metal construction. The flight of the prototype took place on October 26, 1940. The P-51 Mustang has earned a reputation as one of the best, if not the best, WWII fighter. Replacing the Allison V-1710-39 engine from the first project with a Rolls-Royce Merlin motor (P-51 Mustang Mk.Ia version) made the Mustang, like never before, reached perfection. The single-seat fighter impressed with its maximum speed, range, maneuverability, and powerful weapons. The combination of all the most important parameters for the assessment of the aircraft made the Mustang prove itself in virtually every role entrusted to it: it gained air superiority, escorted, carried out reconnaissance missions, attacked ground targets. The class of design is evidenced by the fact that the Mustang remained in active service until the 70's! One of the most important versions was the P-51D, based on the P-51B. It received a drip cab fairing, ensuring excellent visibility, and a new engine - Packard V-1650-7, which significantly improved performance. Technical data (P-51D version): length: 9.83m, wingspan: 11.28m, height: 4.08m, maximum speed: 703km / h, rate of climb: 16.3m / s, maximum range: 2755km, ceiling practical: 12800m, armament: fixed - 6 12.7mm M2 machine guns, suspended - up to 908 kg of bombs or 10 127mm HVAR rocket launchers. Features 1/72 scale accuracy Detailed Merlin engine USAAF markings Bubble canopy configuration

The first flight took place in April 2014, and the first aircraft achieved good resultsduring in-house testing, recording a speed of over 491 km/h. Minor modifications were then made, including changing the propeller from two to three blades and reducing the rigidity of the elevator control system, and the aircraft was handed over to the Navy in September, where inspections began. Since 1995, Hasegawa has been completely retooling their line-up of Zeros. They started with the Model 22 and 32, and now move on to the two earlier versions, the Model 11 and 21. These kits share landing gear and some other small parts with last year's kits, but the wings and fuselage parts are completely new. The Model 11 was the debut version of the plane that was used from land bases in China. It had no carrier gear. The Model 21 adds the tailhook and other parts to allow ship-based operation. That was the version of the plane that was used in the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Hasegawa's fine late-model Stuka in the "tank buster" version made so famous by Hans Rudel. Those big cannons are a simple, three-piece construction. Gun muzzles are solid, though, so you'll probably want to get out your pin vise and drill them out. Excellent all-around detail.

Features The cockpit, landing gear bays, and surface detail are amazing. Besides the Butterfly (Fowler) flaps, and the fine inner detail recreated there, they've added a cute, new feature to this kit -- rolling wheels! The kit employs poly-caps in the wheels so that they can turn after assembly. The prop uses a poly-cap, too, so it can spin and be removed after you've finished the kit. The talk from review modelers here in Japan who have already built the kit is that it assembles quite nicely, too, with the landing gear being particularly easy to build. Markings are included for two different aircraft, both in the green scheme seen in the beautiful Shigeo Koike box art.

Hasegawa offered up what is easily the best model of the Zero ever produced with their early-type Model 21, etc. kits in 1997. Now, they've turned their attention to their dated Model 52 kit and given it entirely new wing and fuselage parts. The company's pride in what is the most famous Japanese aircraft ever built shows through! Detail is absolutely brilliant throughout -- you won't need any resin detail sets for this one. No fit problems at all. Markings for a 302nd Naval Flying Group plane flown by Ens. Sadaaki Akamatsu, and a 653rd Group plane flying off Zuiho. Shigeo Koike box art. Highly recommended. The Ki-43 was originally considered as a "written-off" design until September of 1940. The need for a longer range fighter to participate in the Singapore campaign resulted in the design being reworked and accepted in May 1941. Initially it stood up very well against the old Buffaloes, Hurricanes and P-40s, but as the war dragged on, the Spitfire and P-38 eventually proved to be more than it could handle. With only two 7.7mm and one 12.7mm machine guns it was a drastically under-gunned. A wonderful airplane to fly but with no armament and armor it became another target. The IJA however continued use of the aircraft right up to the end of the war due to it's ease of maintenance and high efficiency. Hasegawa has packed this kit with the quality they are known for. Beautiful fine engraved panel lines, a cockpit with fantastically detailed sidewalls and panels, Even the tail wheel is poseable. By looking at the parts breakdown it obvious that other versions of this aircraft will be done. Markings are included for two aircraft - the first is from the 64th Flight Regiment flown by Major Tateo Kato in Burma during the spring of 1942. The second is the 1st Flight Regiment Commanders aircraft flown by Major Kinshiro Takeda in October 1942.
