Hasegawa's great 1/350 Yukikaze kit, re-released as it appeared during Operation Ten Ichi-Go, the suicidal final mission of the battleship Yamato and its escorts to sail to Okinawa to attempt to turn back the Allied forces. The Yamato and most of her escorts were lost to US Naval aircraft en route to Okinawa, but the Yukikaze survived. This is a variant of the fine Hasegawa Yukikaze it was released in 2006, including parts necessary to build her as she appeared during Operation Ten Ichi-Go. The kit also includes a soft metal 1/350 US Navy TBM-3 Avenger torpedo bomber. Very poignant box art featuring the Yukikaze in the foreground with the hazy figure of the Yamato off in the background, sailing off to its destiny on the way to Okinawa. The Soya was a Japanese icebreaker, research and supply vessel from the Second World War and the post-war period. The unit was launched in February 1938. At the end of the service, the ship was 83.5 m long, 13.5 m wide, and had a displacement of about 4,100 tons. The maximum speed was 12-13 knots. The Soya was originally built to order for the Soviet Union as a commercial vessel adapted to navigate the northern waters, with floating ice. Its original name was Wołoczajewiec. One year before its decisive victory in the Battle of Tsushima, the Japanese Navy fought the Battle of Yellow Sea (August 1904), and won a marginal victory against the Russian Fleet, trying to break through the blockade at Port Arthur. The Russian Fleet returned to Port Arthur having lost its flagship, but the Japanese Fleet also suffered heavy losses.  Hasegawa has recreated the Mikasa's early appearence with this new model. While it contains much of the same tooling as the previous version ("Battle of Tsushima"), this kit includes additional parts for the "fighting top", with 4.7cm guns for two masts, and ventilators with round air intake covers.

Here's an incredibly detailed model of Japan's Antarctic observation ship, the Soya. This edition of Hasegawa's excellent Soya kit depicts the Observation 2nd Corps version of the ship, following up on their previous releases of the 1st and 3rd Corps versions. Also includes one DH-2 Beaver aircraft and two Sikorsky S-58 helicopters. The helicopters are cleverly molded in clear plastic, with the intricate tail framework replicated with decals. The bridge is also molded in clear. Metal rod and chain round out the realistic detailing items.  Includes a very nice stand! A great model of an interesting and unusual subject!

JMASDF's Abukuma class DE is categorized as a coastal guard ship but has displacement tonnage of 2000t and the wide variety of weapons as Harpoon SSM launchers, 20mm CIWS, 76mm gun, ASROC SUM launcher & torpedo launchers as to the fleet destroyer. Abukuma(DE229) is the name ship and Jintsu(DE230) is its second ship. Hasegawa's new model is the two-in-one kit and depicts the completion state of the ships. As the new tooling kit, it achieves the excellent molding standard of nowadays. Hull parts is splitted in half. A set of decal for two ships is provided for the white lines painted on the deck ship names and numbers.

An aircraft carrier in virtually all but name, the DDH Izumo "Helicopter Destroyer" can carry up to 28 aircraft and is the largest vessel launched by Japan since the end of WWII. IJN Heavy Cruiser Nachi was the second of four Myōkō-class heavy cruisers built for the Imperial Japanese Navy — the other ships of the class being Myōkō, Ashigara and Haguro. She was named after a mountain in Wakayama Prefecture. The ships of this class were 659 ft long and capable of 41 mph. They carried two floatplanes, their main armament was ten 203 mm (8.0 in) guns in five twin turrets. This was the heaviest armament of any cruiser class in the world, at the time they were built. Nachi was in Manila Bay on 5 November 1944 when she was attacked by three waves of US planes from the aircraft carriers USS Lexington and Ticonderoga of Task Force 38. In the engagement, Nachi was hit at least nine times with torpedoes as well as rockets. She was broken by two big explosions into three parts and sank in the middle of a large oil slick. A newly tooled waterline kit of the heavy cruiser Furutaka ("Ancient Hawk" in Japanese), the namesake of its class. Decal sheet includes markings for both the Furutaka and its sister ship, the Kako.

The Tenryu-class, completed shortly after World War I, is the forerunner of the Imperial Japanese Navy's light cruisers. At the outbreak of the Pacific War, the second Tenryu-class ship, the Tatsuta, was part of the 18th Squadron of the 4th Fleet and fought alongside the Tenryu. This kit was designed based on the latest historical research and has been reborn as a highly detailed, precision model utilizing current mold technology. The bridge, aft mast, and motorboats, which differ between the Tenryu and the Tatsuta, are accurately  recreated. The direction of the linoleum clamps on the upper deck is based on the latest historical research and is applied vertically.
