AOSHIMA (1208)

Teruzuki is the 2nd vessel of the Akizuki-class destroyer. She was commissioned on 7th March 2013, as a multi-purpose destroyer following the "Murasame-class" and the "Takanami-class". The name of the ship was from IJN destoryer of "Teruzuki". The upper structure of the ship features stealth capabilities. The radar of the 3-FCS-3 fire control systems on the helicopter Hangar and the Stern flap giver her a particular look. She is armed with a wide range of weaponary - the main gun is Mk45 5inch fitted forward in the vessel, Type 90 ship-to-ship missiles (SSM), Mk41 vertical launch system, two 324mm HOS-303 triple torpedo tubes and two 20mm Phalanx Block1B CIWS. Besides the destroyer is equipped with new anti-torpedo system, such as FAJ, MOD and Type 4 towed torpedo decoy, expected to safeguard the other Aegis guided warships of the JMSDF. Nisshin was initally developed as a seaplane carrier/high speed minelayer, but later motifications were made for the ship to carry Type 'A' midget submarines. It was equipped with 3 14cm twin guns and large Type 1-2 Model 11 catapult, usually operated as a fast transport. The ship was launched on 27th February 1942. The namesake of the first class of battleships in the world fitted with 16" (40.64cm) guns, the 42,850-ton displacement IJN Nagato was commissioned in November of 1920 and served in the Pacific conflict alongside the IJN battleship Yamato. After sustaining damage during the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the Nagato returned to Yokosuka Naval Base where she was relegated to coastal defense duties, ending her IJN career with the distinction of being the only Japanese battleship still afloat at the end of the war. She met her end as one of the target ships in the Bikini Atoll nuclear tests, surviving the first atmospheric detonation but sinking after the following undersea detonation. Aoshima's new release of the Nagato is finely molded in gray plastic and is a waterline model, depicting the Nagato as she appeared in 1944 during the Battle of Leyte Gulf.

Chitosa was a light aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II, and was first laid down as a seaplane tender in 1934. Although Chitose was speculated to carry Type A midget submarines, she underwent conversion to a light aircraft carrier at Sasebo Navy Yard in 1943, and was recommissioned on Nov. 1, 1943, and saw several naval actions. She was sunk by a combination of naval bombers during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Molded in gray plastic, and includes clear parts and decals.

Carrier Chiyoda began as a seaplane carrier. Due to the loss of carriers at the Battle of Midway, she was converted to light carrier in 1943. She was at the Battle off Cape Engano in October 1944, and on October 25, Chiyoda was sunk by a combination of naval bombers, cruiser shellfire and destroyer-launched torpedoes. The MIM-104 Patriot is a modern US medium-range surface-to-air missile system. The first prototypes of the MIM-104 Patriot missile appeared in the late 1960s, and entered the line in the US armed forces in 1981. The latest versions of the MIM-104 missiles can engage air targets at an altitude of up to 25 km and at a distance of up to 160 km, and can carry a warhead weighing up to 90 kilograms. In the US Army, the Patriot system is often built on a wheeled chassis - most often the M983 Oshkosh trucks. The MIM-104 Patriot system was developed by Raytheon to replace the MIM-23 Hawk and MIM-14 Nike Hercules missiles. Work on it began in 1961, and the trial - successful - firing dates back to 1969. However, shortly thereafter, the US armed forces changed the requirements for the system and decided that it would use the Track-via-Missile (TVM) system, which assumed the self-collection of information about the target by a missile already fired. This requirement significantly increased the level of difficulty of the entire undertaking and significantly extended the work. It was not until the end of the 1970s that it was possible to meet the high demands of the American armed forces, and from 1981 the MIM-104 Patriot system began to enter the line. The Patriot system was originally designed as a theater air defense system to fight enemy aircraft, but since the early 1990s, with the introduction of the MIM-104C missile and the use of much more advanced guidance systems and radars, the system has achieved the ability to combat enemy ballistic missiles short and medium range. The system was used in combat primarily in Operation Desert Storm in 1990-1991. The operators of the Patriot system, in addition to the US armed forces, are also, among others: Greece, the Netherlands, Israel, Japan and Germany. The system is also offered to Poland as part of the Wisła program. Joining Aoshima's 1/72 Military series is the PAC-3 Launcher! The PAC-3 is the third upgrade in the line developed by Raytheon in the USA. This model comes with both the launcher and the tractor, based off the JASDF variant. The JGSDF Type 73 heavy tank transporter, also called the "Type 73 Semi Trailer," is a 3-axis MBT transportation trailer assigned to five active armies and logistic support regiments of the JGSDF. The maximum loading capacity is 40t, and the maximum road speed is 60km/h, with a characteristic high profile for rough terrain. This vehicle is mainly used for transporting Type 74 and Type 10 tanks, and can only be seen at night time due to the Vehicle Restriction Law. This model kit recreates the engine and frame of the tractor, and even the underside of the semi trailer chassis authentically based on the intense study of the real vehicle. The landing gears are supplied with two sets, in folded and extended positions, which can be replaced even after assembly. This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit. Type DD51 is the type designation of Japanese diesel locomotives from the post-war period. Locomotives of this type were produced in the years 1962-1978. In total, 649 units of these rail vehicles were built. The weight of a single locomotive was 84 tons, and its length with buffers - 18 m. The locomotives were adapted to the 1067 mm rail gauge. Their axis arrangement is B-2-B. The DD51 locomotives were developed to complement the Japanese rolling stock of the D51 and C62 steam locomotives. They were characterized by both higher power and higher maximum speed than their predecessors. The engine, which is the "heart" of the DD51 locomotives, was developed as a far-reaching development of the engine used in the DD13 locomotives. It is worth adding that the production of these locomotives was carried out by several large companies, primarily: Kawasaki, Hitachi and Mitsubishi. In April 2016, there were still 29 locomotives of this type in use in Japan. The long-awaited standard color version of the popular 1/45 scale DD51 is now available.
