The JSF Joint Strike Fighter program was set up to develop a new fifth-generation all-weather multirole combat aircraft able to replace the existing United States and NATO strike-fighters. The aerospace industry team led by Lockheed Martin generated the single-seat, single-engine, F-35 Lightning II. It adopts stealth technology and it is characterized by the trapezoidal wings and by the use of the most advanced hi-tech materials and avionic systems. Developed to perform air superiority, close air support and ground attack missions, it has been design in different configurations. The F-35A is the conventional takeoff and landing variant, the F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing variant and the F-35C, with foldable-wings, has been developed to be used from conventional deck carriers. Thanks to its operational flexibility, the advanced on-board technology and the impressive project innovation, the F-35 lightning II will be a reference aircraft in the twenty-first century military aviation.

The North American P-51 Mustang is undoubtedly one of the most iconic aircraft in military aviation history and is widely regarded as the best piston-engine fighter of World War II. The P-51 was developed in a remarkably short time and was built around the Packard V-12 engine, capable of delivering over 1,600 horsepower, allowing the Mustang to exceed 700 km/h. The P-51D, the most widely produced variant, was armed with six 12.7 mm Browning machine guns mounted in the wings. It was extensively employed on the European front, primarily escorting bomber formations but also serving as a fighter-bomber for ground attack missions. The Mustang was flown by some of the most renowned American aces of World War II, who showcased its exceptional performance and operational capabilities.

The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb was a pivotal variant of the iconic British fighter aircraft during World War II. Introduced in 1941, it featured a strengthened wing structure capable of housing two 20mm Hispano Mk II cannons and four .303 Browning machine guns, enhancing its firepower. Powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 engine, the Mk.Vb achieved a maximum speed of approximately 360 mph (580 km/h) and had a service ceiling of around 34,000 feet (10,400 meters). This model played a crucial role in the Battle of Britain and subsequent campaigns, serving with both the Royal Air Force and Allied air forces. Over 3,900 Mk.Vb units were produced, making it one of the most widely used Spitfire variants.

Immediately after the Second World War, the American company Republic, began working on a new turbo-jet fighter-bomber. F.84 Thunderjet was developed on a simple but effective design with a large frontal air intake, straight wings and a robust tricycle landing gear. Thanks to the General Electric / Allison J35 turbo-jet engine, F-84 Thunderjet was able to reach 1,000 Km / h. It was armed with six 12.7 mm machine guns and it could carry an offensive load of nearly 900 kg. The F-84G, entered production in 1951, is one of the latest versions of the Republic fighter-bomber. In addition to the USAF it was used by many NATO countries, including several fighter-bomber squadrons of Italian Aeronautica Militare, in accordance with the Mutual Defense Assistance Act.

$ PRICE IN PROGRESS!
The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is an American, single-engine, metal-framed, low-wing fighter-attack aircraft with a classic tail. The prototype first flew in 1938, and serial production took place in 1938-1944. The last of the Hawk family, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, was, apart from the Republic P-47 and North American P-51 Mustang, the most widely built American fighter. By the time production ended in December 1944, the number of aircraft had exceeded 15,000. The development of the design began in 1937, when the prototype airframe of version 75 was adapted to accommodate the Allison V-1710-11 inline engine with a power of 1,167 HP. The aircraft became the first American design capable of flying at a speed of over 483 km/h. The version for the RAF was called the Tomahawk Mk IIA. The aircraft had self-sealing fuel tanks and two 7.7mm machine guns mounted in the wing. The Tomahawk MkIIB had American radio equipment and were armed with six 7.7mm machine guns. Some American P-40s were modernized in 1941 for reconnaissance duties. They received the designation RP-40. At the same time, work was underway at Curtiss on the conversion of the Hawk 81-A. The changes included the installation of an Allison V-1710-39 engine with 1,167 hp, providing constant power to an altitude of 3,563 meters, adaptation to the installation of four 12.7mm machine guns in the wing and the installation of an under-fuselage unit that could be used to carry one 227 kg bomb or a jettisonable additional fuel tank. The US Army placed an order for these aircraft in September 1940, assigning them the designation P-40D. Over the next three years, Curtiss made every effort to expand the P-40's capabilities, creating numerous new versions of the aircraft. Despite these efforts, the Warhawk's performance was lower than that of contemporary Allied and Axis fighters. Technical data (P-40E version): length: 9.66 m, wingspan: 11.38 m, height: 3.76 m, maximum speed: 580 km/h, rate of climb: 11 m/s, maximum range: 1100 km, practical ceiling: 8800 m, armament: fixed - 6 M2 machine guns, caliber 12.7 mm, underslung - up to 900 kg of payload.
Limited reissue of the Academy 1/48 scale Tomahawk IIb kit with markings for four RAF aircraft used in North Africa: one flown by Pilot Officer Jack Bartle of 112 Sqdn., one flown by Flight Lieutenant Clive Caldwell and two flown by Pilot Officer Neville Duke.

The JU-87 dive bomber is certainly one of the best known aircraft of WW2. The characteristic "gull wing” aircraft gained great notoriety at the beginning of the war, and is considered, together with the Panzer Divisions of the Wehrmacht, as defining symbols of the Blitzkrieg. During the war, new versions with differing operational profiles were introduced. The Ju-87G was developed as an "anti-tank" version of the Stuka, to counter the vast array of enemy armored vehicles deployed on the eastern front post 1943.The Stuka “ace” Hans Ulrich Rudel proposed the addition of two 37 mm Flak 18 cannons housed in underwing pods to better counter this developing threat. With this configuration the Ju-87G "Kanonenvogel" proved extremely effective in the hands of experienced pilots.
