A two-rotor rotary engine was capable of 130hp, and the front midship layout gave the car optimum weight distribution, which was one of the secrets to its exemplary handling. In 1980, Mazda gave the RX-7 a minor model change, making the SE Limited model the most luxurious of the four types on offer. Creature comforts such as the sunroof and bucket type leather seats were joined by aluminum wheels, while lightening the car by over 30 kilograms and refining its nose further improved fuel efficiency.
